Abbie and Jock had a very busy day today
compared to their Monday and Tuesday. The duo started their morning off with a
walk, accompanied by a new daycare friend Shadow. Right off the bat Jock was
interested in Shadow, and the pair played for the majority of the walk, causing
lots of tangles in the leashes. When it was group time the pair was thrilled to
spot Shadow outdoors with them too. Abbie took her time making her way into the
grassy yard, investigating the gravel yard along the way. Jock on the other
hand was full speed ahead to get into that grassy yard and meet up with Shadow.
Jock instantly began dancing around with Shadow, looking for a play buddy. Jock
started by slowly prancing around Shadow, pawing at his side and then slowly
backing away. Shadow stood still, taking in Jocks funny requests to play.
Finally, Shadow dove towards Jock, and then bolted off in the opposite
direction. Jock was absolutely thrilled to give in to his games and began
zipping after him. Before they made it to the other side of the yard, Abbie was
right on their tail. These three were zipping around the yard, so fast; it was
hard to get a good photo. Soon enough the entire group was joining in on the
games as well. There was a big swarm of dogs zipping and zooming in fast circles
around the yard, and Jock and Abbie were right in the middle of it. The duo was
so full of beans today and couldn’t have been more active for a cool fall day.
Towards the end of playtime Abbie and Jock met up with one another, and one on
one trotted around the yard at a brisk pace. They kept one another company
while investigating and then broke off to go hang out with some friends one
more before it was time to head indoors.
Timbits made a best friend today; Taylor,
the Springer spaniel. These two are a
match made in heaven, full of the exact same type of positive energy. It took
no time at all for this pair to meet up. They spotted one another from across
the yard and it’s like it instantly clicked that they were meant to be. They
went bolting straight for one another and the games started in the blink of an
eye. Timbits loved to pounce all over Taylor, while Taylor would lay on her
belly then slowly roll onto her back, letting Timbits take control of the
wrestling. Every once in a while, Taylor would pounce up and take off, looking
over her shoulder while sprinting away to ensure Timmy was following her. He
never once disappointed her, as he was always right on her heels. These two
sure could run fast, drawing a lot of attention to them. They sprinted around
the tunnel, over, and over, and over again until Timbits stopped dead in his
tracks and tiptoed back in the opposite direction to catch Taylor off guard. He
was successful, as she instantly lied down on her stomach showing him that he
got her good. They began romping around again which led to yet another chase.
This time, they got all the dogs in the yard zooming around with them. Shadow
and Pelley were especially keen to motor at full speed. These four dogs were
running so fast it was hard to keep up with the camera! Finally, Timmy and
Pelley took a break to catch there breath which was quickly accompanied by
Taylor and Coco. Coco had beed spending the first portion of her outdoor time
sniffing and exploring. She wasn’t to sure about all the crazy action going on
in the grassy yard at first so she slowly investigated the gravel yard before
making her way to my side in the grassy yard where she gladly accepted pats and
cuddles. She then made her way onto the picnic table, and was joined by a
couple of her playmates. She wasn’t too sure about all the attention on her has
she stood on the picnic table so she made her way down and that is when she met
up with Timbits, Pelley, and Shadow. As soon as Timmy had his sister join him
he began zooming around again in hopes that she would follow. Of course, she
bolted after him, trying to tame him. Her barking only got more eyes drawn to
her, causing all the dogs in the group to sprint in circles around the yard
together. Coco and Timbits were in the middle of the action, running as fast as
possible to try and out run their mates. No one won the race, in fact they all
ran out of breathe before anyone even made it significantly further ahead of
anyone else. Needless to say, Coco and Timbits were happy to head back to their
kennel for an afternoon nap to re-charge their batteries before their next
outing.
Shadow had an absolutely amazing day of
daycare today. He is such a happy, outgoing dog; resulting in every pup he met
enjoying his company. Shadow started the day off with a nice trail walk with
two other dogs, Abbie and Jock. Shadow was thrilled to meet up with dogs right
away and couldn’t focus on walking. He tried to play throughout the entire
walk, keeping Kinsey very busy sorting out the leashes as they walked along.
Come group time, Shadow was ecstatic to see 7 other dogs in the yard with him.
His eyes lit up and he flew into the grassy yard, without a worry in the world,
looking for some games to begin. Shadow started his time in the yard dancing
and prancing around one of our lovely boarding guests, Pelley. Pelley is a
happy, spunky, full of positive energy, fox terrier. There aren’t many dogs
that Pelley won’t play with, and Shadow was no exception. Shadow zoomed around
Pelley with his nose quickly moving around her, investigating her, to ensure
that she was a good match. Pelley doesn’t care to investigate her friends, she
is always keen to get going with the games. Shadow was pleased to be welcomed
so effortlessly, and gladly began to dance around with miss Pelley. Pelley
began to bounce backwards, while in a playbow facing Shadow. Shadow slowly
wiggled his way closer to Pelley, waiting for the perfect time to bolt. They
both froze in their footsteps, keeping their eyes locked on one another. I
finally took a step closer to them, which set them off, and they began to zip
around the yard at full speed. Both Pelley and Shadow were zooming across the
yard, bounding, with all four limbs in the air at a time trying to get as much
leverage as possible to speed them up. I was shocked to see these two spitfires
move so fast. Shadow was bolting left and right, dodging the other dogs and the
obstacles in the yard without a worry in the world. Pelley is queen of chase,
and was right on his heels the entire time. As Shadow was weaving through his
friends he got a lot of attention drawn to himself causing a couple of
group-mates to join in on their games. Jock and Abbie the Westie siblings began
to follow Pelley and Shadow on their extreme chase around the yard. It wasn’t
long before Taylor, Coco and Timbits were in on the action too. Soon enough, I
found myself very dizzy watching these 7 dogs sprint in circles around me with
the biggest smiles on their faces. After running and running for quite some time,
Shadow finally settled down. He then took his time to meet up with Jock and do
some dancing around with him. Pelley was keen to find Timmy and Taylor and join
in on their wrestling match in the grassy yard. Pelley then met up with some of
her other group-mates on the picnic table where she finished off her time in
the yard supervising her friend’s play around.
Pelley was in the mood for lots of pets today, no matter where we were. We started off in the reception area, where Pelley investigated the toy bin and the desk and then settled down for some love. When she got up, I decided to take her outside, where I hooked her up to the long line so that she could explore or we could play with some toys. After a quick sniff around, she once again settled down with her back to me and enjoyed a long session of back massage and scratches. When I got to the tops of her hips she started to dance happily from side to side. Our next destination was the lounge; I wasn't sure if Pelley had spent time in the lounge for her extra attention and thought this might be a treat for her. Sure enough, she roamed happily around the room, checking out the couches and under the end table but eventually she was right back at my feet, where we did lots more petting and scratching.

Dexter started things off on a calmer note
in the yard today. He had a lot of sniffing and exploring to do before finally
committing to joining in on games. Dexter had his nose to the ground motoring
around like he had an engine on his legs moving him along. He was zipping
around so fast it was hard to keep track of where he was. Finally, after a bit
of enticing, Dexter began to dance around with myself. His fun and games with
me drew attention to him, causing some of his group mates to head his way and
check him out. Dexter was more than happy to finally play around with some of
the dogs in his group. At first, Dexter met up with his usual Siberian husky
friend. This pair is funny, as Dexter loves to zip around and dodge Kodiak,
while Kodiak would much rather chase. They take turns playing the game they
want to play before one finally gives in to the other and they spend some time
doing one or the other. Later on Dexter was pleased to meet up with Cascabelle,
a lovely happy go lucky lab. I was surprised to see Cascabelle running around
with Dexter, as she usually prefers to play fetch on her own. However, today
she was keen to join in on some zipping and zooming with frisky Dexter. These
two darted around the long grass with one another, enjoying their time
together. Their ears were flopping around as they pounced back and forth
dodging each other with every bounce. Dexter was thrilled to have a mate play
the same type of game that he loves. Dexter continued these shenanigans for a
while until he decided he wanted out what the two goofy golden retrievers were
doing in the middle of the yard rolling around. Dexter loved watching them
wrestle and romp around. He dove in and out of their games while quietly
barking at them. I could ell his herding instinct was kicking in, however, he
wasn’t being too intense at all. After I called him off of barking he began to
wrestle around with these girls, practically flying over top of them bouncing
back and forth. His time with them was short lasted as his pal Kodiak begged
him for one more race around the yard before it was time to head back indoors.
Rex was very keen to make some new friends
in the yard today. He was first excited to see his big brother Fez accompany
him in his group. He briefly hung out with Fez and then made his way off on his
own to match up with some younger, more energetic dogs. It didn’t take long for
Rex to really hit it off with a Siberian husky in his group. This duo stood
facing one another at first, and then slowly tucked their head around one
another with their tails wagging a million miles an hour. Finally, Rex pounced
back and play bowed then bolted off looking for a chase. His mate was more than
happy to run after him, which go the games started. Rex lead his friend around
the yard and through the agility tunnel at a very fast pace. After this pair
made a fair share of laps around the yard, Rex took a break to check up on some
of his other group-mates. Rex was happy to find two cute girls rolling around
together. Rex wasn’t sure how to approach these two golden retrievers
wrestling, so he hovered by their side before they gave him the ok to join in
on their match. Rex wasn’t willing to roll around so he pounced around beside
them, playing referee. He continued on with these shenanigans until his husky
friend showed interest in Rex once more. This duo ran around the yard a couple
more times before Rex decided he would explore for the remainder of group time.
Fez and I enjoyed our regular morning walk
with senior friend, Merlin. These two love to sniff and explore everything the
trails have to offer. We slowly made our way around the back portion of the
loop, allowing them to stop and investigate whatever they pleased. Whenever Fez
would find a good smell, Merlin would make his way over to get his nose in on
it too, and whenever Merlin found a good smell, Fez would motor over to check
it out too. These two gentlemen make a great investigation team. Fez was happy
to see his brother in the yard today. At first, he tried to follow him around.
Rex finally gave in and gave his brother a couple nudges and kisses, before
making his way into the yard on his own to play. Fez was content to meet up
with his young, crazy, brother. Fez then made his way around the yard on his
own, checking out everything the yard had to offer. Fez was rather smitten with
a lovely golden retriever named Maggie, flirting by her side and giving her
kisses on her head. Maggie didn’t mind this attention at all and Fez was very
pleased about their company. Later on, Fez met up with myself to enjoy some
good pets and cuddles along with scratches behind his ears and down his neck
before he had back indoor to relax.
Ranger is always happy to spend a day with
us. He was pleased to enjoy a nice trot with Oban this morning, who also enjoys
a slow shorter walk. Come group time, Ranger was happy to make his way down the
hall and outside. On his way down the hall, he insisted on stopping at every
kennel to sniff the bottom, ensuring there were no kibbles or treats lying
around that he could snatch up. To his disappointment, the hall was very tidy
so he didn’t get a snack. In the yard today, Ranger was happy to slowly
investigate the yard. Ranger had a couple other older friends in his group who
kept him good company as he moseyed around the yard. When called, Ranger would
perk his ears up and look at me with bright eyes then trot over to me. Ranger
knew I either had a cookie, or pets and cuddles to offer, both of which are a
great option. Ranger was happy to get both numerous times throughout his
outdoor time. Towards the end of his group time he made his way into the back
of the agility yard where he met up with two younger, spunkier golden
retrievers, goofing around. Ranger was fascinated by them rolling around and
jumping all over one another. He stuck his nose in on the action, and they
weren’t shy to invite him in. Ranger politely declined the offer and head back
to the door where he patiently waiting to return indoors where he could get
comfy in his kennel and enjoy a nap.
Birdie started her last day with us with a
walk alongside her friend Rex. Birdie, Rex and Susan walked along the path at a
good pace, taking in the chilly morning air. After her walk, Birdie went and
curled up on her cot for a little break before it was time to head out for
group time. We made it out into the yard a little bit later on, and Birdie ran
excited circles around all of her doggie friends. The first dog to catch
Birdie’s attention was a husky named Justice. Justice was busy following his
nose around the fence and only looked up when Birdie came running over and
tumbled into him. This got Justice very excited, and soon enough he and Birdie
were off zooming around the yard as fast as their legs would carry them. Birdie
spotted a toy and stopped to have a chew on it and catch her breath. She
watched her friends as she lay in the grass, gnawing away at her blue and white
prize. The other dogs were starting to get more and more playful, Birdie
couldn’t help but spring into action. She pounced onto Justice once again, but
this time Bella the shepherd mix, Merida the golden girl, and Max the doodle
were all in the pile with her. Magic, the husky, also joined in the chase, and
led Justice into the tunnel. Birdie barked with excitement and jumped up on the
side of the structure, pouncing and pawing until her friends burst out the
other end. The huskies flew out of the tunnel and Birdie, Max and Bella took
off after them once again. Birdie finished up her group time with another
little chew on the blue and white toy.
Bella is such a sweet heart, and it’s so
great to see her every Wednesday! She started off her morning with a walk with
two doodle friends, Max and Finnigan. These three motored along the trail,
keeping their noses to the ground and following the path. Bella stopped a
couple of times to roll in the cool, dewy grass, but was quick to hop back up
to rejoin her walking buddies. Group time rolled around not too long after her
walk, and Bella was ready to roam the yard. She glued her nose to the ground as
soon as her feet left the doorway. Bella made her usual rounds of the yard,
checking to see if there were any new and interesting smells since she was here
last week. She had made her way to the corner of the wooden fence and the
building when she noticed Birdie and her boyfriend Justice bouncing around
together. Bella shot off like a bullet, running as fast as possible to catch up
and get in on the fun. Justice led the chase around the yard with his two
minions racing behind. The group ran straight into the tunnel, where Bella and
Justice danced around for a moment or two. I could hear them trying to get
around each other in the tunnel while it shook around. This was very intriguing
to the other dogs and they all stopped to watch. Suddenly, Bella and Justice
came barreling out of the same end of the tunnel and bolted across the yard
once again. This time, Birdie, Max, Magic and Kyah all followed suit and joined
the chase.
Benji joined two of his daycare friends on
a walk with Susan right away this morning. He was so very happy that he sang
the whole way around the trail to let everyone know! He’s such a cutie. Later
on we went out into the yard with some friends for group time. Benji took his
time to get acquainted with all of the other dogs and to get a good look at his
surroundings. Although Benji has been with us many times before, there must
have been lots of good, new smells to take in! He kept his little nose glued to
the fence line until I went over to give him a back rub. Benji gladly accepted
and stood there enjoying his pets and feeling the breeze in his hair. Our
relaxation time was interrupted, though, when Finnigan the doodle and the two
husky puppies went running past. Benji was feeling good and ready to play and
so decided to follow along and get in on the action. Finn and the puppies were
wrestling and rolling all over the place, and Benji waited until the perfect
moment to jump in, too. After a good few minutes of rough and tumble play,
Benji was ready to take a quick break and go see what the other dogs were up
to. He made his way around and said hello to Abby, Dudley, Resa, Isis, Sky and
Shelby. He was surprised to meet two full grown huskies in his group, but said
polite hellos before going back to investigate Resa some more. He’s such a
social butterfly!
It was great to see Bella and Jake bright
and early this morning! They sang with excitement when it came time to go for a
walk with Susan and their daycare friend, Benji. Bella and Jake never hesitate
at walk time, and headed straight to the end of their leashes to lead the way.
After some good sniffing and walking, these two were ready to take a break and
curl up on their bed until it was time to head out for groups. Bella was very
focused on exploring during her group outing today, and kept her nose tight to
the ground for almost the whole time! Jake, however, was in a more playful mood
and ran around, looking for a playmate. It didn’t take long for a friend to
take Jake up on his offer, and Resa, Finnigan and Isis started to chase along
behind him. Jake was very excited, and looked back to make sure the others were
still there before kicking it into high gear. The pack ran and ran, with the leader
changing with every lap around the yard. Jake slammed on the brakes and stood
to watch and catch his breath. He decided to take a few minutes to go over to
the fence to say hello to Bella. She was still very busy with her sniffing and
exploring, but she was also keeping a close eye on the husky puppies, who had
started to wrestle by the door. I joined Bella and Jake for some snuggles to
finish up our time together.
After breakfast this morning, Cara and
Brodie joined a terrier friend named Pelley on a walk around the path. It was a
cloudy morning with a bit of a breeze, so Cara and Brodie spent lots of time
with their noses pointed upwards, taking in all of the scents carried in by the
wind. After our walk time came to an end, Cara hopped up on her cot and rubbed
her face on her blanket while stretching out all the way. Brodie looking over
at her and followed suit, hopping up onto his own bed for a little stretch and
relaxation time. Once group time came around, Cara and Brodie parted ways for
the first little while. Brodie hung back by the door and the fence, sniffing
away at the rocks and grass growing through the cracks. Cara, on the other
hand, was ready to play! She marched right over to me and started barking
playfully. I grabbed the rope toy that I know she loves, and dangled it around
so that she could grab on. We played a good game of tug for a little while,
until Cara decided that she’d like to move on to another toy. I then went and
got the Frisbee, and tossed it across the yard and over the agility tunnel.
Cara went flying after it, and even almost grabbed it out of the air! She
wasn’t quite fast enough, though and started to paw at the toy on the ground.
This caught Brodie’s attention, and he raced over to see what his sister was up
to. Cara still hadn’t managed to pick up the Frisbee, so Brodie gave her a
helping paw and nuzzled his nose underneath. Cara carried the toy around like a
prize, and Brodie hopped along behind her, eager for his turn. After the next
throw, Brodie got his wish and took his time to walk around with the toy to
show off to all his friends.
Abby and Dudley had a very relaxed day
today. They seemed to be feeling a little cozy since the day started out cloudy
and chilly. When I went to give them breakfast this morning, they were cuddled
up together in their bed of blankets and stuffed toys. Abby hopped down off of
the bed and Dudley reluctantly stretched and joined his sister for their meal.
After a little time to digest, I went back to get Abby and Dudley ready for their
morning walk. The pair were happy to see that their friend Ringo was joining
them out on the trail. Abby and Dudley waddled along, taking in all of the
smells on the trail as we made our way around. Later on, it was time to head
outside for our group outing. Dudley was taking it super easy today, and opted
to hang out along the fence for the first little while. He watched as the other
dogs played with some toys, and then decided to come and see Abby in the grassy
yard to get a better view. Abby was happy to have Dudley by her side, and the
pair stuck close together. I invited Abby to join me on the picnic table, and
of course she did. Dudley sat down by my feet and I gave him some pets, while
Abby sat on my lap. Eventually they decided to go back out and do some more
exploring around the yard before it was time to head inside for a snuggle on
their cozy blankets. Abby is quite the little climber! She loves to get up on everything, especially if she has to navigate multiple levels. She hops up onto the armchairs in the reception area and then up onto the sideboard under the window. I guess being so close to the ground makes her curious about what is out of her sight. Since Abby wanted to pretend to be a mountain goat while I was giving Dudley a massage, I brought her in to Leah, who was working at the desk in the office. Abby settled quite happily on Leah's lap while Leah chatted to her and gave her a massage of her own. Eventually Abby wanted to move from Leah's lap onto the desk, so we joined her in the office, but on the floor where Dudley followed us and Abby checked out everything in the room. There is nothing Dudley likes better than one-on-one time and since he has been a bit sore from playing too much the last couple of days, I wanted to give him a really soothing, relaxing massage. He loved it! He looked positively dreamy when I was done and I think he could have sat in front of me while I kneaded his muscles all day long.
