Saturday September 10th, 2016

Egan had an excellent day with us today. When I went to get him for his walk he jumped around his kennel as he saw that I had his leash in my hand. As we made our way out the door Egan sprang into action, sniffing as soon as he was out. As we made our way to the field, Egan saw a few of his pals from the other side of the fence and let out a bark to say hello. When we got into the field, Egan put his nose to the ground for most of the walk, besides stopping a few times to play around with his pals that were with him and to sniff through some hay. When we got back from his walk Egan climbed up onto his bed and laid down for a rest. When it was time to go out for his group Egan ran to the door as soon as he got out of his kennel, waiting patiently for me to open it. As soon as we got outside Egan ran as fast as he could around the yard a few times as he walked his pals greeting each other. After running around the yard a few times Egan went over to his pals to see if anyone wanted to play with his, but sadly no one did, so he went over to the fence to sniff around. As the group was coming to an end Egan came over for some cuddles before we went back inside.

George and Titan are really enjoying their stay with us. When I went to get the boys for their walk Titan sprang out of bed while George lazily climbed out of bed, had a stretch and followed titan and I outside. When I opened the door Titan ran out while I waited behind for his pals. As we made our way through the yard Titan was itching to get out to the field, and as soon as we did the first thing he did was put his nose to the ground to sniff out the dogs before him. As we made our way through the field the boys pranced along as happy as could be, happy to be out in the morning fresh air. As we made our way back inside the boys ran back into their kennel and curled up on their cot together for a little snooze. When it was time to go out for their group Titan and George made sure that they were the first ones outside. As we all made our way out the door, everyone said hello to each other and then went their separate ways. George went to sniff around on the rocks while Titan ran around the yard a few times. Eventually Titan decided he wanted to play with someone, however no one wanted to play so I threw a toy around the yard for him. While I was playing with Titan, George came over to give me a few cuddles before going back to sniff. As Titan became tired and the group was coming to an end, the boys spent their last few moments sniffing around the yard. George and Titan always love spending extra time with their people friends here at Tails & Trails. These boy are so cuddly, especially George. The chair in the reception area is George's favourite spot, since he always gets lots of cuddles and pets when he's curled up there. Titan is always a little bit busier during his extra attention time and follows his nose around the room. Titan sat like a gentleman for some treats, which prompted George to get up from his chair and join his brother.
Louis seems to really be enjoying his stay with us. When I want to get him for his walk Louis lazily got out of his bed with a nice big stretch. A soon as I put his leash on him Louis pranced around like a ballerina excited to get out for his walk. As soon as I open the kennel door Louis bulldoze through me trying to get to the door. Once we got outside he went straight to sniffing, I think that's his favourite thing to do. As we made our way through the field Louis slowly caught up to me and made an effort to sniff every flower there was. When we finished our walk Louis gave me a few kisses soon as I put him back in his kennel. When it was time to go outside Louis circled in his kennel excited to get out with his friends, as soon as I open the kennel door he be lined it outside. After giving all his friends a sniff outside the door Louis decided to go explore around the agility yard. While Louis sniffed around the yard he watched his pals chasing each other around, but he had no intentions of joining them. After giving the yard a thorough sniff Louis decided to just sit and watch his pals for a bit, until he came over to give me some kisses. After cuddling with Louis for a bit it was time for the group to go back inside so when I took Louis and he curled right up in his bed. Louis strolled up the hallway a little bit later in the day for some one-on-one time. His absolute favourite thing is to be brushed, so that's what we did. Louis will lay down for you all day, as long as you have a brush in your hand!

Spencer was bursting with energy as soon as he woke up this morning. He enjoyed an outing and a walk with a few of his friends, and then it was time for the main groups of the day. Spencer wasted no time racing outside when I opened his kennel. He always has lots of pep in his step! Right away, Spencer went running to the far side of the yard to see if there was anything interesting for him to sniff. He was quickly joined by the rest of his group, who Spencer bounced around with for a bit before he went trotting off on his own again. He found the fence quite interesting today and spent some time poking his nose in the rocks while he wandered along. Then a couple of the dogs started to wrestle and run around, so Spencer went hurtling over to leap into the mix. He pounced on Riley, spun around and attempted to tackle Kane - who happens to be a large and sturdy dog, so Spencer just ended up bumping into him and then racing away. Spencer was running around as if he had suddenly gotten a burst of energy and didn't know what to do with himself. Eventually he settled down again and came over for a cuddle with me, before wandering off to explore the yard a bit more. Spencer knew exactly what time it was when I came to get him for his extra attention. He raced up to the playroom and immediately dove into the bucket of toys, pulling out a rubber ball. Spencer paraded it around to show me and then settled down to chew on it. It didn't seem like Spencer could sit still for very long, though, because he had soon hopped up and trotted over to see if I had anything for him. He quickly sat down without me even needing to prompt him, and waited patiently while I fished for the treats out of my pocket. Then Spencer went over to the pile of toys to look for something new. He ended up laying down with a bone and his ball between his feet, trying to decide which one to chew on. After that, we played fetch with his ball for a bit, and then we went for a short sniff outside. Spencer found an interesting patch of grass and nosed around for a bit while I cuddled him and took pictures. Once he was satisfied with the sniffing, we headed inside.

Ranger and Piper were both more than ready to get outside this morning. After walks they both curled up to rest, but were quickly on their feet when I came to get them for groups. Ranger was the bolder of the two and happily lead his sister out the door. He went off to sniff around while Piper hung back with me for a minute to get some attention. She cuddled with me, then went to see what Ranger was doing. She poked him with her nose and bumped him with her shoulder, trying to get him to play, although Ranger just gave her an amused look and wagged his tail. Ranger wandered over to check out the camera I was holding and Piper decided to explore the yard. Her brother soon joined her. After they had both sniffed around for a while, Piper ended up beside me again. I pretended to chase after her and she quickly play-bowed before spinning away. She bumped into Spencer, who thought that she was trying to include him in the game, and got a little bit confused when he started jump around also. I left the two of them sort-of-playing and went to see what Ranger was up to. He seemed quite happy sniffing around the yard, and just to show me how much he was enjoying himself, he had a big stretch, from his toes all the way to his tail. Piper, having snuck away from her new friend, wandered over to us and I had them both sit nicely for a picture. Then we all went for a stroll around the yard. Ranger found an interesting hole and poked his head inside. Piper didn't notice him - or she pretended not to notice - and walked right into him, almost sending Ranger face-first into the hole. Then she pranced away as if nothing had happened, and Ranger trotted over to cuddle with me while his sister said hello to a few other dogs.

Fitz was super happy to meet his new friends in groups today. He was delighted when he saw Rupert and quickly trotted over to give him a sniff. The boys both said hello and then parted ways, with Fitz heading over to the next dog. Brutus was also quite cheerful and gave Fitz a friendly poke with his nose. Last but not least, Fitz met his twin, Luna. Except for the fact that Fitz is bigger and fluffier, they are practically twins, right down to the collars! Fitz wandered around with Luna and they enjoyed each other's company while they sniffed around the yard. Then Fitz went off on his own and had some nice peace and quiet as he was investigating the fence. The solitute didn't last very long, however, and Fitz was soon by my side looking for cuddles. He leaned right against my leg and if I stopped petting him, even for a second, he would quickly nuzzle my fingers to make sure I hadn't forgotten about him. I pet him for a while and then he followed me to the grassy yard, where Brutus and Luna were sniffing around. Luna suddenly started running circles and Fitz pretended to pounce at her every time she raced past him. They seemed to have a lot of fun together! Once the dogs had quieted down again, Fitz spent the rest of groups sniffing around and cuddling with me.

Luna is always a delight to have in the yard. She was hanging out with a smaller group today and spent lots of time saying hello to the other dogs and soaking up the attention from me. As soon as we got outside, Luna was off to sniff everyone else, and once the dogs had been covered, she moved on to sniffing the yard. Occasionally I would call her name to get her attention and Luna wouldn't even hesitate to come hurtling over for some cuddles. She seemed to be full of energy today and was running everywhere. Luna spent some time with her twin, Fitz, and found quite the entertainment in poking her head in the tunnel. Then she trotted over to see what I was up to. I showed her a rope toy, seeing if she would play with it, but instead Luna wanted to play with the other dogs. She play-bowed to Brutus and then Fitz, before racing away. It was as if she had suddenly gotten a burst of energy and wasn't quite sure what to do! She would race between the other dogs, slide to a stop and lay down, and then the next second she would be running again. It was quite the show and Fitz decided to encourage her by pretending to chase after her when she flew past him. Needless to say, Luna was in need of a nap in between groups! Luna could hardly wait for her extra attention today! She was bouncing up and down when I came to fetch her from her kennel. We headed up to the playroom and Luna started racing around, trying to explore everything at the same time. It didn't take her long to figure out that I had some treats in my pocket and soon Luna was nuzzling my hands in search of the goodies. I had her sit and lay down, which she did perfectly, and then gave her the much-anticipated reward. We cuddled for a bit, and played briefly with a few toys, although Luna was much too excited for her interest in them to last very long. I decided to take her outside for a short stroll, so that she could relax and sniff around. After that, Luna was happy to cuddle with me for a bit, and then she headed back to her kennel to rest before groups again.

Nymeria is certainly enjoying her stay here with all her husky friends. When I went to get her for her walk Nymeria jumped with joy as she saw me grab her harness and leash. As soon as I opened her kennel door, Nymeria was ready to go. As soon as she got out of the door Nym took off like a rocket, as she spotted her favourite digging hole in the yard she vowed to herself that she would go dig it later. As we got to the field Nymeria’s nose went straight to the ground as she sniffed through the dewy morning grass. Throughout our walk Nymeria spent some time wandering through the tall grass, amd playing around with her pals but she was mostly interested in sniffing around. When we got back into the building, after taking Nym’s harness off she went into her crate, curled up in a ball and fell asleep. When it was time to go out for her group Nymeria made sure she was the first one out the door, along side her pals Isis, Sky and Adele. As the group sniffed each other Nymeria took off like a bullet into the agility yard followed by Magic, Justice, Rosie, Isis and Sky. As she ran through the tunnel the huskies all decided to play around in the tunnel with Nym for a bit. After playing in the tunnel Nymeria took some time to say hello to her pal Adele and to sniff around in the rocks. As the group was coming to an end Nymeria come over for some cuddles before it was time to go back inside.

Keeva had an awesome action packed day today. When I went to get her for her walk Keeva lazily got out of her bed with a nice long stretch, but she was very excited. As soon as I hooked her up to her leash Keeva’s ears perked right up, as she knew what time it was. When we were walking through the yard Keeva let out a little woof to let the world know that she was about to go for the best walk ever! As soon as we got to the field Keeva looked at her pals, then back at me, then shot off like a gun, eager to get out and play around. As we made our way through the field Keeva hopped around like a bunny through bunches of tall grass, as she looked for a spot to stop and roll around. As soon as she found said spot she dropped down and rolled around. As soon as we got back to the building, Keeva went back to her bed for a little snooze. As soon as it was time to go out for groups Keeva ran to the door excited to see her pals again. As she made her way out the door she made sure to stop and give everyone a good sniff before carrying on. For most of the group Keeva spent her time sniffing around by the rocks and inspecting all the holes, but before the group ended Keeva made sure to come see me and give me some cuddles. Keeva was just as excited this afternoon for her second walk as she was this morning for her first. We strolled around the field at her pace, letting her nose do lots of sniffing work as we went.
