Ferdinand and Archie had another great day with us at Tails & trails. Today they got to spend the whole day with their friends Tippy, Ekkaia and Fawkes. When I went in to see them the boys we spending some time cuddled up in the cat tree together however when I got the laser pointer out the boys were very interested in that. After playing around for a bit Archie climbed up on my lap for a quick cuddle while Ferdinand wondered back to his condo for a little rest.
Dogs
Duke had a blast today! His absolute favorite buddy Achilles
was outside with us today and Duke could not be more happy about it! These two
guys were having so much fun together. It all stared when Achilles came up to
say hello and gave Duke a quick sniff, and from that point on, they were best
mates and wouldn’t stop wrestling around the entire time! The only time they
took a break from playing was when the pools got filled and Achilles dove in to
cool off. Duke didn’t dare step a single paw into the water. He stayed by the
side, watching the other dogs in the pool and sometimes taking a quick sip
while there was room along the edges. One time when Achilles was getting out of
the pool, he shook and then stepped out, but his tail caught some water on it,
and it all splashed right up onto Duke’s face! He took a couple steps back and
tried to shake off every drop before returning to play with his best friend. It
was a good thing that he got bathed right after! He is looking rather handsome
after his bath today!
Hudson is such a live-wire guy and it is so much fun to be with! On his walk this morning, he was very good and didn’t pull at all! He was joined by Tigger and Titan. These boys got along great and Hudson really liked Titan and stuck close to him for the whole walk. Whenever Titan went to smell something, Hudson was right behind him, sticking his nose right beside Titan’s. After his walk, he got to spend even more time with me outside on the long leash! We played lots of games together. We started with fetch, although I don’t think this was his favourite. We tossed the ball back and forth only a couple of times before he lost interest and wanted to play with a rope toy. Tug-of-war only lasted a little while also because then he wanted to run around and sniff everything on the backside of the shed. He spent the rest of his time roaming around, running back and forth between the shed and I. By the time we were done, he was all warmed up and ready to go out for his morning group with all his friends! He was sad that he and Titan weren’t together when it was time to go outside, but Hudson got to spend more time with his best friend Harvey! These two goofballs are best mates, and couldn’t be more compatible to be besties. Today they wrestled the entire time they were outside, taking the occasional break to take a dip in the kiddle pool or to say hello to the other dogs. Duke is also one of Hudson’s good friends, but Duke was spending most of his time with Achilles in the yard today so he didn’t stick around Duke for very long. When the pool was finally filled, Hudson would literally dive into the water and make a huge splash all over the other dogs, and me as well! Whenever he took a drink of the water, he stuck his whole face in the water and then whenever he came out, he was soaking wet! As his group time went on, he was more and more soaked! He was upset that Harvey wouldn’t go in the pool with him, but he was always waiting there when Hudson got out to begin another wrestling match! They wrestled for the rest of the time they were outside. Hudson then spent some time training with Susan.
Austin was his usual cuddly self today! Today he was a little more hesitant to come outside with the rest of the group but once he was out there and saw some familiar faces, he was more relaxed and said hello to everyone before venturing off into the yard. The first friend that Austin said hello to was Samson, as always! Samson is his go to friend when he is unsure of what to do in the yard. These two little guys are so cute together! After Samson, he made his way to the puppies. Joe and Lola were very occupied sniffing around the grass, and Austin isn’t a big sniffer himself, so he went elsewhere to see what Vega was doing. He found Vega while she was on the picnic table, and then he climbed up there to join her. They weren’t up there for long because Ringo came pouncing onto the table, sending everyone off balance and they all slide off! It was so funny to watch. Austin got right back up though, and trotted over to the far grass yard. I met him there and picked him up to give him some cuddles. I could tell that this is exactly what he wanted because he instantly started to give me lots of kisses. We sat down together and he stayed in my lap for a little while, enjoying lots of pets and a couple sniffs from the other dogs.
This morning Lola and I were joined on our walk by her adorable brother Joe. These two have been missing Doug lately so they have stuck together for most of the time and were happy to walk together! Joe was dying to get a hold of Lola on their walk so that they could wrestle and Lola was being the biggest tease! Every time Joe would jump on Lola, or run into her to start a little game of chase, Lola would stop walking and quickly put herself in a play-bow stance and wait for Joe to bounce back at her. She would then continue walking on like nothing happened. It was the funniest thing to watch. Joe would then take this as a challenge and he would pounce right on Lola’s back and take her down to the ground. I love to watch these two play wrestle because they are so rough yet so gentle with each other and love each other’s company. They are also super cute to see when they are nice and peaceful in their kennel. Today I walked by and Lola, Vega and Joe were all sleeping on the same cot, and Lola was squished between the other two and I couldn’t even tell where her face was! It was all too funny. Later on when we were outside in the yard today, Lola was rather intrigued by the weeds in the yard. She didn’t want to even chew them but she sat right by them and pounced at them like they were going to play with her almost. It wasn’t until Maggie, the English Bulldog that is boarding with us, came by and distracted her from her obsession with the weeds. Maggie was instantly Lola’s best friend and Maggie chased her around for as long as Lola would run away! Every time Lola went into a play bow, Maggie would go crazy and run away and then run right back. These two girls had a blast together outside and are looking forward to playing again tomorrow.
Keeva was so much fun to be in the yard with today! She was immediately so excited to get outside. She must have knew that it was her turn to go out because she was sitting patiently by the door of her kennel for me to open it. As soon as I did, she trotted right down the hallway and out the door to join the other dogs. She instantly grabbed the pink rope toy and threw it at me to play tug with. I grabbed it and she just stood there with it in her mouth, wagging her tail. I let go of it and then she did as well, and then zoomed off across the yard. She went through the agility tunnel which was so much fun! We then played a little game of hide and seek. When Keeva went in the tunnel, I ran to the end that she went in on, and when she got through, she was looking all over for me. Once she saw me at the other end, she leaped up and ran right toward me. This is the part where she tackled me and then demanded some serious cuddle time. We sat in the grass together for a couple minutes while I pet Keeva’s head and rubbed her ears. Our cuddle time was interrupted when Egan came over to see if Keeva wanted to play with him. She bounced up and ran across the grass with him. Later on, Keeva was pretty tired from such an eventful group that she was happy to take a nice little nap during lunch time and relax before her next fun outing! In the afternoon, Keeva went for her second walk and she could not be more excited. We made our way around the loop, and when we got back, there were some people in the reception area and Keeva was so happy to meet some new people! She was her usual, friendly self with everyone and everyone gave her lots of pets and attention. The two of us then hung out together in the front reception for a few more minutes. Keeva explored around the room and said hi to Susan while she was working at the desk. She then came over to me, seeking some more snuggles. Keeva then retired to her kennel, awaiting her dinner!
Poppy had a very nice day today! She went for a lovely walk
on the trail outside to start off her day. She loved the weather, with the nice
cool breeze and the sun still out, it was perfect walking weather! After taking
a short little nap, it was time for Poppy to head outside with some of her
friends. She began by exploring the fence line all along the yard. There must
have been a smell in the yard that was very interesting to Poppy because every
time I saw her outside, her little nose was glued to the ground! Eventually I
wanted Poppy to come spend some time with me in the yard so I called her over
while I was alone sitting on the grass. I know I got her attention because she
looked up and I saw her little bum wiggle with excitement, but then after a few
more seconds she returned to sniffing the ground. I went over to her and picked
her up and brought her to a comfy spot where we could sit and relax together.
Poppy was so excited that I wanted to snuggle with just her! We sat together
for what seems like forever in the grass. I was giving Poppy a nice ear rub and
scratching her back, and then she rolled over for me and I gave her the best
belly rub ever. She was in heaven! Later on she sat up and watched the other
dogs come and go around us. Poppy then rested her head on my knee while she was
watching the dogs and I think she even fell asleep for a couple seconds because
when I looked at her, her eyes were completely shut. I just love when Poppy
comes to visit, she is such a sweetheart!
Paisley and I spent lots of time together today! She was
rather mellow at group time in the afternoon, watching everyone run around the
yard. We were all in the nice grassy yard, so Paisley found lots of things to
sniff and get into. Keeva was running around chasing a rope toy, and a couple
times Paisley went up to her to see what she was doing and Keeva barked at her
and playfully tried to invite her to play. Paisley was a very nice girl and
chased Keeva a couple times around the yard while she carried the toy. After
this was over, Paisley wandered into the next yard where the play structure is
and sniffed all around. Poppy joined her in the sniffing party and these two
girls stayed close together the whole time. Right before going inside, Paisley
came seeking me for some quick pets and attention before everyone went back in.
Later, Paisley got to go for her afternoon walk and she was so happy that she
practically bolted out the door! We ran for the first couple steps on the path
because she could barely contain her excitement. As we made our way around,
Paisley saw a frog moving just ahead of us. She immediately lunged right for
it, with her tail wagging so quickly! The frog jumped away from her before she
could get there, but it was a very exciting moment for Paisley! She then
happily trotted beside me for the rest of the walk. Afterwards, I cuddled Paisley
for a while, and gave her two yummy treats. She loves to get her ears rubbed
and get a massage all down her back. She will gladly stand there all day if it
means she’ll get endless back rubs! She’s so cute.
George and Titan are really enjoying their stay with us, like usual. When I went to get them for their walk today the boys jumped for joy as they knew what time it was. I think walk time is definitely their favourite time of the day. When I opened the door Titan sprang out with full force with George following closely behind. As the boys made their way through the yards George stopped just before we got to the field to smell a very interesting flower, however soon enough he decided it was time to join his brother in the field. As the boys trotted along in the field, without a care in the world, their eyes caught on a grasshopper and they chased that until they could no longer see it. When we got back inside George went to curl up on his bed while Titan stood by the kennel door unable to miss any action. When it was time to go out foe their group George lazily got out if his bed with a big stretch and yawn while Titan ran to the door excited to see all of his pals. As soon as Titan was out the door he ran straight for the pool, itching to get his paws wet while George stayed behind to greet all of their friends. As the group went about playing with each other George sat back and sniffed, letting the occasional bark out to let them know that he indeed was still there. Titan saw no better opportunity than to play along while his pals while his older brother refereed. When the group was coming to an end George and Titan came over for some cuddles and kisses before it was time to come back inside. George and Titan were ready for their extra attention when I went and got them this morning. So we headed in to the playroom to spend some time together and explore the room. Titan set out investigating the entire room from top to bottom. Meanwhile George headed straight to the toy bin to seek out a good chew toy. He found a nylabone and carried it around showing it off to me before setting it down to do some exploring of his own around the room. Titan took this opportunity to steal the bone from his brother and settled down to have a good chew on it. George soon found his way over to me to get some cuddles and back rubs while Titan continued to chew on the bone. Soon enough our time together was over and we headed back up front to relax for the day.
Louis had a blast on the first day of his stay. When I went to get him for his walk he looked at me, trying to guess what we'd be getting up to and as soon as I had him hooked up to his leash he knew exactly what time it was. As we made our way out the door Louis lifted his nose to the air and took a big sniff, welcoming the fresh air into his lungs. As we made our way through the yards Louis looked up at me as if to say a proper good morning, but with a quick nod he went back to sniffing. As we approached the field Louis looked a little happier than he already did as he realized that indeed this field was for him to explore. While we walked through the field Louis trotted by the horses and looked at them as if to compare their sizes to him but then decided to just put his nose back to the ground for the rest of the walk. When we got back to the building Louis looked as if he was happy to be back in his kennel so that he could curl up for a little nap. When it was time to go for a walk, Louis rolled out of bed and made his way to the door excited to get outside. As soon as he got outside he said hello to his pals but then he realized something, we have a pool! After seeing the pool Louis made a run for it, needing to splash around in the refreshing water. After spending some time on the pool, Louis spent the rest of his time outside sniffing around the yard, and wishing he was small enough to fit through the tunnel.
Max E. had a fantastic day with us today. When I went to get him for his walk he pranced at the door, as he knew it was his walk time. When I opened the door for him he B lined it out side, excited to get out to the field. As we made our way through the yard Max passed a friend in the other yard and let out a little woof to say hello but quickly continued on with his walk. As we got to the field Max ran along side me for most of his walk, but he stopped halfway along to snatch up some grass and have a little roll around. As the end of his walk was near Max gave a protesting look but decided he was indeed tired and that he should go inside to lay down for a rest. When it was time to go out for his group, Max made sure he was the first one out the door, then he walked patiently just out the door for all his friends too. After everyone was outside Max ran across the yard, straight through the pool and over to his pal Koda to ask him to play a game of chase me. After Koda kindly accepted the offer Max and Koda raced around the yard as fast as they could, running through the pool a couple times too. After slowing down a bit Max decided that he would spend the remaining time of the group sniffing around and investigating a few holes.
Koda is so happy to be back here with his best pals and us again. When I went to get Koda for his walk this morning he screamed with joy, legitimately. As soon as we got to the yards Koda let out a deep howl to let us know just how excited he really was. As soon as we got the field Koda sprang into the tall grass to catch a butterfly, although he came up empty handed he certainly did try. As we made our way through the field Koda stopped for a minute or two to check out the horses and see what they were up to and to sniff around in some hay, but eventually he decided to move along with his walk. Near the end of his walk Koda saw that a few of his other pals were just starting their walk and looked at me as if to ask if we could go for another, but I reassured him that play time was coming up soon. When Koda got back to his kennel he curled up on his cot and went for a little snooze. When it was time to go out for his group Koda bolted as fast as he could to the door along side his best buddies Rosie, Magic, Justice and Kyah. As soon as he got outside Koda ran around the yard like a maniac tempting Rosie and Magic to a game of chase me, which they eventually gave in to. After being chased around the yard for a few minutes Koda decided to take the party over to the pool and splash around in there for a bit. When the group was coming to a close Koda spent the rest of his time sniffing around before he got back inside.
