Ferdinand and Archie were both cozied up in their suites when I walked in this morning. Archie was curled up into a tight little ball while Ferdinand had his head popping up to watch the other cats walk around the room. As soon as I opened their suites Archie stayed in his place while Ferdinand got up right away to come down and explore around the room. I helped him get down since he seemed hesitant to jump and he crawled right up the cat tree to sit on one of he ledges. Archie decided it was time to take a tour of his own and got out of his suite as well and began to sniff around the room, he came over to me for some cuddles just when Ferdinand decided to join us as well.
Rev and Cleo spent a good part of their afternoon getting accustomed to their surroundings. It didn't take long for Cleo to hop down out of her cubby and perch herself on the windowsill. I went to say hello and gave her some ear and chin scratches while she looked out the window. On the other side of the room, Rev hopped up onto the rocking chair and started kneading the cushion on the seat. She did a few little circles before settling down for a little rest. I went over and gave her lots of pets and scratches before it was time to go back into their cubbies.
Dogs:
Koda was a great big ball of energy today. He was in the grooming room this morning alongside his pal Ariel who was in there to keep him company. When I was letting these two outside for their group they were both so excited to go outside and rushed right out the door. They were joined by all of their friends in the yard and you could tell by everyone’s energy that it was going to be a super playful day. Koda began to run around in circles at first as he stopped to sniff around a few places. He stopped by the fence and started to sniff around the rocks then ran off to another spot to explore there. He finished all of his business quickly so he could start playing with all of the dogs once he noticed they began to run around across the yard. Koda ran right over and jumped in the middle of a big group of dogs as they all play bowed around him. Koda stood there and waited for a moment before he pounced ahead of them all and ran as fast as he could to the other side of the yard and continued around the fence and kept on going. All of the dogs chased after him as they started up their game of tag. He would stop running every now and then whenever he reached the end of the yard so he could take a break. He made his way over to the pool and decided to jump right in it even though it wasn’t filled up. Some of the other huskies jumped in as well with him then once he got back out they did as well and followed him until they started to run again. They continued their game of tag as they bolted in and out of the agility tunnel super quickly and didn’t stop until they went back inside.
Duke was so much fun out in the yard today. He was the most energetic dog in his group and kept everyone playful even if they didn’t want to play at first. He could always get the other dog excited enough to play with him. When he first came outside he began to bounce around all of the dogs to say hello right outside of the door. It wasn’t until I came out and got everyone to follow me into the agility yard that he began to run around in circles as he went up to some of the dogs to play. He seemed really interested in one of the dogs that were outside with him. He was just a puppy and seemed to be a little nervous at first but Duke was so intrigued by him and just wanted to play. He started to follow him around the yard and go up and paw at his side so he knew he wanted to be chased. The other dog was a little unsure and ran over off across the yard on his own. Duke followed him to the fence as he kept rying to get him to join in with the others. When he still didn’t want to play so Duke decided to give up for now and ran over to the other dogs that were wrestling in the grass and pounced on them. He started to wrestle around on the ground with them for a bit until he managed to get up and ran away from them so they could start playing tag. The others followed him as they ran in circles and didn’t stop until Duke ran over to see the puppy again to try one more time to get him to play. This time he seemed interested and began to run around with him for the first time. After that these two were the best of friends as they ran from one side of the yard to the other. Duke even gave him lots of kisses whenever he caught up to him as they were playing tag.
Maggie and Keeva are both such sweet girls. As they went outside for their group today they seemed to be really happy to get out in the fresh air and walk around. Maggie ran into the agility yard right away while Keeva stayed by the door to greet the other dogs that were making their way outside. Keeva loves to socialize and was all up in all of the dogs business trying to sniff just about everyone outside to say hello. Most of the dogs loved it as they tried to jump up on her to play but Keeva wasn’t too interested in playing as much as she was just hanging around the dogs. Maggie began to explore right away as she made her way into the agility yard and started to sniff along the ground, her nose was glued right to it and she never lifted up her head once to watch any of the others play. She made her way along the fence then over to the grass as she was following all of the scents that were passing by. Eventually she walked over to me once she was done sniffing around and came to say hi. I gave her lots of pets and she rubbed her face between my legs. I think she was enjoying it! Keeva saw me give Maggie all of this attention and ran over as well to get some love for herself. I opened up my arms as Keeva ran into them so I gave her a big hug and rubbed her sides to pet her. Maggie trotted over to the puddles and started to splash around in them. She got herself all wet then decided to walk over to the grass to roll around in it.
Keeva was relaxing in her kennel when I went to get her to go for her afternoon walk. She jumped up when she saw the leash in my hand. I clipped on to her collar and we headed out to the trail. Keeva lead the way sniffing along making sure not to miss a thing. As she was trotting along she stopped dead and looked curiously at the grass. She then took a cautious step and a frog hopped along through the grass. Keeva watched it jump away and once satisfied the coast was clear continued on her way. After our walk I gave keeva a few cuddles in her kennel before leaving her to her big comfy bed and blankets.
Poppy is such a cute little girl. She has lots of energy most of the time and loves to run around with all of the big dogs. She may be small, but she has a big personality! Poppy seemed to really love all of the dogs in her group and ran around with as many new friends as possible. When she first walked outside she made her way into the agility yard and followed her nose the whole way. She made sure to say hello to the other dogs that were also outside with her. At first none of the dogs wanted to play so Poppy stuck to herself as she trotted around. She ran around through the grass then made her way over to the fence where he began to explore along the rocks. I called Poppy over to me as he came over with a big smile on her face for some cuddles. She stood in front of me as she got lots of love and watched the other dogs as they walked around as well. She was looking for a playmate. Once I was done she ran over to a big group of dogs and started to run in circles to see if anyone was interested in chasing her. It took a little bit but finally one of the dogs started to chase Poppy as they ran in huge circles around the yard playing tag. Poppy ran through the agility tunnel with her tongue hanging right out of her mouth. Once the other dog caught up to Poppy they began to jump on each others back and wrestled around the grass before Poppy jumped back up and started to run around again. She quickly used up all of her energy as she slowed it down and started to roam around instead for the rest of the time she was outside.
Abbie and Jock’s favorite part of their day today was their morning walk. They both were very eager to get down the hallway with their leashes on and be on their way. Normally they both like to stop in the yard on our way out to the trail and sniff things, but today they both bolted to the end of their leashes and made right for the gate. Ringo joined them on their walk as well and Jock got Ringo to run right along side him. Once we were out the gate, Abby veered off to the right to sniff the long grass. Jock waited patiently by her before continuing as well. As we walked, Abby was walking directly beside me on my left, and Jock on the right. Such perfect little doggies on a leash! Later on at group time, Jock took a liking to Ringo outside and Austin as well. Jock followed Austin around the whole time, giving him the occasional sniff. Abbie was also very cuddly today, coming up to me while I was on the grass and seeking a few pets. She sat down beside me and I pet her head. Not long after she sat down, Jock came by to join and then I had them both enjoying some afternoon cuddles. Later in the day during lunch, Abbie and Jock both spent some time with Syarah and I in the kitchen and these two were loving it! They got lots of cuddles and Jock even rolled over for me to give him a quick belly rub. They both then enjoyed a nice treat and then took a quick nap before going outside again.
Titan, George and I spent some time together up front after walks and these two boys had such a good time. Titan made sure to sniff every inch of the room before he even noticed there were people up there! George was the exact opposite, burying his head into the lap of the nearest person to gain some extra cuddles and love. Syarah came up with the three of us and she sat on the floor and cuddled these two boys. Titan got a good ear massage and was leaning into Syarah’s hand and it almost looked like he was going to fall asleep. George was then in a really playful mood and started to play bow to Syarah while she was on the floor. She pulled him in and he laid down to let her give him a nice belly rub. These two boys also enjoyed lots of attention from their friends later in the morning while they were outside. George explored every inch of the yard, while Titan tried to make as many friends as he possibly could. His first choice was Merida, one of our staff’s dogs. Merida stood while Titan gave her a good sniff and then Merida leaped up and started to run away from Titan. Instead of starting to play, Titan moved on to find another friend. His next choice was Tatoo and these two hit it off really well and became fast friends. Titan stayed close to Tatoo the rest of the group, giving him the occasional play-bow. Tatoo let out a small bark and then Titan would randomly take off to the other side of the yard and then trot his way back. It was funny to watch because I didn’t know exactly what he was doing but he sure was having fun!
Austin was his usual cuddly self today. He has grown really comfortable with all the staff and all the other dogs that have been here for the same amount of time. Austin has also really taken a liking to the little husky puppies that he spends so much time with. Today, Doug, Lola and Vega were all on the picnic table outside and Austin immediately was so excited and barked at them a couple times to get their attention before he climbed up there to be with them. He was only up there for a few minutes before the puppies all jumped off, one by one. Austin then looked at me, like he wanted me to help him down. I picked him up and gave him some pets and some kisses before letting him down on the ground. He kissed my nose right before I let go and then he trotted away to find his friend Jock. Jock stayed with Austin the whole time while they were outside. When I was sitting in the small dog yard, Jock was with me in the grass while Austin climbed up onto my legs and perched himself there. Once Abbie came to join us, Austin leaped down and went over to the table again to see the puppies. It was a very fun-filled day for Austin today!
Lola is such a sweetie. Whenever I pick her up to cuddle her, all she does is give gentle kisses and cuddles right into my arms. Today she was lying in the shade with her brothers until I picked up both her and Joe and took them over to the grass with me to play around. They ran around for a few seconds before they gravitated back towards the other yard. Doug was there and he was relaxing, sitting on the picnic table. Lola thought it looked like so much fun so she joined her brother up there and they both sat calmly side by side, watching all the other dogs do their thing around the yard. I took some very cute photos of the two of them and then they both leaped off. Doug headed towards the pool, but Lola decided to tackle Vega and start a wrestling match. She sort of took Vega by surprise and Vega tumbled to the ground and lay there for a second. Lola laid down beside her too and howled at her in a very cute, puppy way. They both burst up onto their paws and ran around for a bit to exert some energy before heading inside. Both of these girls were the last ones to come inside, putting forth lots of protest about going in because it was such a nice day out and they both wanted to lounge around on the cool grass and gravel. I picked them both up and Lola changed her mind about coming inside once she was that her lunch was waiting for her inside. She always sits very nicely for her lunch and is a very smart girl.
