Dougie was super excited to get out into the yard today with
all of his friends. When he first walked out the door he couldn’t even hold in
all of his energy so that he started to bounce around in a circle as he was
watching all of the rest of the dogs come out to join him. He took a tour
around the main yard while Bauer walked out the door and headed straight to the
grass part of the yard. He walked all the way to the end by the fence and looked out at all of the birds. When I called him over to me
turned his head around and started to wiggle his body with his tongue hanging
out all playfully. I walked into the
agility yard and Dougie and the rest of the gang followed me
in. Dougie went up to all of the dogs right away and said hi to them. I think
he got the rest of them just as excited as he was since everyone started to
become super playful and bounced around each other. The bouncing soon turned
into a game as Dougie and another dog began to jump up on top of each other. When the other dog jumped on top of Dougie right
after him. Dougie ran as fast as he could away from them but stopped before he
got too far. He jumped into his place and stared at them since he wanted to
start a game of tag and for the others to chase him. As Dougie stood there, Bauer made his way over to join everyone. He walked right up to me this time
and I started to pet him. He made his way over to the pool to dip his paws and have a drink of water while it was filling up. Bauer stood there by the water and watched the others
run around the yard in a circle. Dougie noticed me filling up the pool and
headed right over. He was so excited to jump in the water even though there
wasn’t very much in it at this point, but he didn’t care and jumped in anyways.
He circled around in the water a few times before hopping back out as he began
to play more. Bauer seemed to get more interested in them playing as he
watched. He walked over to them and stood beside Dougie as he wrestled around,
eventually he decided to give in and give playing a go.
Miko was so happy as he got outside today. You could tell he
was in a good mood if he was already starting to play before he even got out
the door while he was in the hallway. Outside, Miko quickly greeted all of the
dogs before running off to the far side of the yard. He loves to play and run
around in the grass which is why he’s always in that area. He began to sniff
around as some of the other dogs walked up to him to give him a sniff. The more
dogs that came up to him the more he got distracted from what he was doing and
started to run around in circles on his own faster than I’ve ever seen before. He
ran up to Merlin who took his time slowly coming over from the gravel yard to
join everyone. He stopped to smell everything in his path before he trotted on
over to me as I was sitting in the grass. Merlin is
such a cuddly guy and ran right over and plopped himself right in the middle of
my lap where he laid down right away as he got me to cuddle and pet him. All
of the other dogs got jealous and ran over to me to try to get in his place,
that is, except Miko. He ran over to Merlin and tried to get him to play with him. Merlin
started to chase Miko for a bit and Miko was loving the attentio. They chased
each other around the yard once before Miko decided it was his turn to chase
Merlin. Merlin then decided to head back to the gravel yard to hang out and sniff around.
Polly was so adorable when she first came in this morning. You could tell that she was a bit nervous around the other dogs but as soon as
she saw a person she opened right up and couldn’t wait to go and see them to
say hi! During her walk she was so excited and happy to be walking around the
trail with Tara; those two got along great. After her walk, Polly seemed to be a little sleepy and she walked right back into her kennel, drank lots of
water and laid down so she could take a nap before it was time to go outside
with her group. When she went outside she was a little nervous at first as she
met all of the dogs. They all ran up to her as soon as she got out the door
since she’s new, but she behaved very well and stood there and let them give
her a sniff before she walked away. She started playing a little bit with some
of the other dogs as they were running around and wrestling. She would skip
over to them and join in and then circle back and come see me for a quick pet.
Lola and Pearl had a very relaxed day outside today. Pearl
got her walk with a couple other dogs today to go around the full trail while
Lola went for a shorter walk since it was so hot today. She likes to take her time and follow her nose in the field. Pearl took it east on her walk and walked along at a relaxed pace, while Lola did the same a little while later. During groups outside, they both had a relaxed, lazy time. Pearl is usually a lot more energetic and loves to play with the
dogs but today she decided to keep it more calm. As they got out the door they
trotted along over to the grass where they both began to sniff around the
yard. Pearl kind of ran as she sniffed the grass. I guess she thought that she
would be able to cover more in the time she had outside. Lola took her time as
she trotted around outside. I called her over to me and her face brightened
right up as she walked over and in between my legs for me to pet her. She loves
to get cuddles especially while we sit together and watch the others play.
As Pearl was wandering the yard, some of the dogs passed her as they were
playing and it sparked her interest for a second as she ran over to go and join
them. She bounced around them as they were playing tag and hopped into the action a few times before going back to sniffing near her sister.
Keegan was joined by his brother Dugan last night and to see them together all day today was sure nice. You could tell Keegan was very happy about having his brother's company in their kennel. Dugan had lots of energy this morning as he started his day. During their walk the two of them could barely control their energy as the ran from one side of the trail to the other. Always trying to sniff things in the grass. It didn't help that they had another dog joining them which made them both very playful until they came back inside. During their group, the two walked out the door and began to say hi to everyone. Keegan wasn't as interested in socializing as Dugan was and ran over to me shortly after. He loves the cuddles and always tries to jump up onto me, so I let him hop onto my lap. When I got up I called the two over to the further yard and they came right away. They strolled through the grass and began exploring. They always stuck together out in the yard and where one of them began to sniff the other would quickly follow behind him. They both had such a nice, relaxing time out in the yard today and were happy to go back into their cool kennel for a nap.
Ruby came in just this morning and got to stay in the kitchen. She loves it in there, especially because it's quiet and she gets lots of one-on-one attention. Ruby loves people and whenever you crouch down around her she scoots over to you and climbs up onto your lap so she can be held, such a lap dog! When it was time for her group outside she was a little nervous but still made her way outside with me. Once she was outside, some of the dogs came over to give her a sniff, including Tara. Tara is a very curious girl and loves to meet new faces, so when Ruby joined everyone else outside Tara was the first to scurry over to her to say hi. Ruby stood there while Tara gave her a quick sniff then Ruby decided to take off to the other side of the yard to explore on her own. Tara stayed where all the dogs were by the door for a while to socialize more with them. After she paced around the gravel for a bit she decided to go and sniff around elsewhere as well. She found her way over to Ruby again and started to follow her around the yard. Ruby led them all the way to the picnic table and hopped on top of it. I sat beside her and she crawled onto my lap for some more cuddles, Tara got jealous and jumped up as well, actually I had to pick her up, her legs are a little too short to jump that high!
Tara has been doing really well with her socialization this week. She's been such a good girl out in the yard with the other dogs and only needs some reminders about her manners when we're in the hallway. When she goes up and down the hallway she needs a bit of a reminder to focus on where she's going instead of on the other dogs in their kennels. Walking Tara on a leash down the hallway makes a big difference and allows me to keep her focused. We walked up and down the hall together a few times to practice her manners.
Adele was pretty happy to head outside for her group time. She went trotting out to the far yard then stood waiting so she could say hi to the rest of the group. Once Adele had done that, she had to put her nose to the ground and set off on the invisible scent trail. She then decided to take a break from exploring to go and have a visit with Tanner and Mocha. I headed over to join them. After a nice little visit, Adele was feeling the need to follow her nose once more. She made her way out to the far yard and immediately her nose hit the ground. Adele was very focused on her exploring. I tried to get her to look at me for some pictures, but she’d only look up for me making ridiculous noises and even then it was only for a brief moment. Adele was finally distracted from her exploring when she spotted the pool. She was quick to go and clamber in and get her feet nice and wet. With that done, Adele was right back to exploring. A few of the huskies ended up in the yard with her, and once Adele noticed it was time to play. They had so much fun bouncing around and playing on the picnic table.
Issy and Mocha made their way outside and paused trying to decide what they wanted to do. Mocha quickly took up one of her favourite position next to the outdoor kennel. Issy decided to stay close to her sister and start exploring in the main yard as the rest of the group went out to the far yards. They weren’t alone for long as Sadie made her way over to do some exploring in the same yard. With her arrival Issy headed out to check out the far yard. Issy didn’t stop there and ended up all the way in the other main yard thorough checking out anything that caught her attention. Mocha was still hanging out in her spot when she was joined by Tanner and shortly after that Adele. They spent some time hanging out together until the other two headed out to do their own thing. Issy left the main yard and ended up back in the far yard going along the perimeter. She caught the eyes of Magic and Rosie who went racing over to see about getting her to play with them. Issy declined the offer and headed back to Mocha. Mocha finally got up from her spot and set out to do some exploring of her own.
Tanner was so excited to head out for group. He went and said hello to the rest of the group then came and launched himself at me. Tanner then bounced around my legs wanting pets and wanting to play. We bouncing around for a bit, but soon I had to go and check on some of the other dogs. Tanner wasn’t thrilled, but figured it was a good time to go and visit with Mocha. It wasn’t long before they were also joined by Adele. Tanner seemed to enjoy spending time with them. When I made my way back into the yard, Tanner was quick to head for my side wanting more pets and attention. Once he’d had enough Tanner made his way back to Mocha and did some exploring around the yard.
Max and Sadie were bursting with energy and couldn’t wait to get outside. They went tearing off around the yard as soon as they got out the door. Max was so excited to see that he was in the same group as Justice, Magic, and Rosie. It didn’t take long for him to check them all over and see who wanted to play. Sadie said her hellos then head out to check a couple things out around the yards. Max had luck in getting Magic and Rosie to play with him. In no time at all they were off tearing around the yard like crazy things. Eventually Sadie couldn’t find her exploring more interesting then what Max was up to and went racing over to join in. The four of them had a blast tearing around the yard with some wrestling and leaping thrown in. Sadie soon needed a bit of a breather and made her way over to the fence to watch beyond it for a little while. As soon as she had her breath back she went running to rejoin the others. Max also needed to cool down and so went running over and jumped in the pool. Once he’d had a drink and gotten his feet nice and wet he went running back to rejoin the others and the fun continued.
Percy was so excited to get outside and go running off, but some plants quickly snagged his attention just after the entrance. He apparently found the whole area rather fascinating and spent quite some time thoroughly checking them out. I left for a while and when I still didn’t see Percy running around after a few minutes I went to check on him. Eventually he saw all he needed to see and went racing off across the yard. Percy stopped to check on the pool. Satisfied it was full he went to check on some other plant life over by the far fence. Joey curious about what he was looking at went over and joined Percy. After Percy had thorough checked out that chunk of greenery he went running off and dove into the tunnel. He started his laps, which Joey was rather interesting to watch. Laps out of the way it was time for the pool. Percy wasted no time in launching himself into and immediately started to dig and splash around. Nice and wet it was then time for some more tunnel laps. It wasn’t long before Percy was back in the pool. Giacomo soon came tearing into the yard. Never one to resist another dog running around, Percy went racing after him.
Joey ended up heading out for group time without Giacomo, only because his brother was getting groomed. Joey decided to start of with some exploring. He made his way around the yard with his nose to the ground until he came to a spot in the far part of the yard. It was getting a rather nice breeze and Joey was quite enjoying it. I think there was some scents on the wind that all caught his attention, but he was pretty happy to stand with the wind playing with his ears. Eventually Joey had had enough and decided to go and check out what Percy was looking at in the greenery by the fence. Percy then moved on to playing in the tunnel. Joey wasn’t quite sure what he was up to and stood at the end of the tunnel watching as Percy ran back and forth. Eventually watching Percy got boring so he made his way over to me for some pets and cuddles. Percy caught Joey’s attention once more when he went and launched himself in the pool. I tried to encourage him to get in the pool as well, but he wasn’t overly interested in anything beyond a drink. Not too long after that Giacomo joined us from his groom. He took off racing around the yard. Joey excited to see his brother took off racing after him. It didn’t last too long though because then Joey had to go in for his groom. Giacomo was so excited to be outside and was just running to be running. He ran all through the agility yard then back to the main yard before heading back to the agility yard. Percy found all this very fun and went racing after Giacomo. Eventually Giacomo had burned off enough energy to make his way over to me for a bit of a cuddle and lots of pets.
Xena was pretty happy to make her way outside with her brothers. She was quick to branch off on her own and check out anything that caught her attention. After Xena had toured one yard she made her way over to the far yard. The red jump ended up catching her attention and she made her way over to check it out. Zak and then Caesar went over to join her, wondering what she was checking out. Apparently it was incredibly fascinating because they all stood, heads together thoroughly sniffing. Xena lost interest in it first and headed out to check out more of the yard. With that done, she next set out for the main yard. Xena was pretty happy to do her own thing never mind what her brothers were up to. She then noticed the pool. Xena headed over and gave it a quick once over then decided to go back to exploring. Zak tagged along after her. After she had seen everything she needed to see it was time for the pool.
