Sunday July 3rd 2016

Millie had lots of fun outside today. In the morning, she jumped up and down with excitement to get in the yard with her friends. She explored around and greeted some of her pals when she got outside. After that, Millie went on her morning walk with Hudson. They had a great time together exploring the trails. A little while later, it was once again time for Millie to go outside for a group play time. She ran out the door and into the yard alongside her friends. The first thing she did was sniff around the fence line of the yard. After that, she headed over to the agility tunnel and ran right inside of it. All of her friends followed to see what she was doing. Domino stood outside the tunnel and watched as Millie plopped onto the bottom of the tunnel and started to roll and wiggle around. Domino got very excited and wanted to play with Millie. They started to leap at each other and run around. Millie would lunge at Domino, and he would chase her away. They looked like they were having so much fun. Millie jumped into the pool at the end of the play time to cool off. She stood with three legs in the pool for a bit then completely jumped in.

Domino had an excellent day with friends. In the morning, domino couldn't wait to get outside. He was so happy to see his friends and they explored around the yard together for a while. When it was time for walks in the morning, domino seemed very pleased to be walking with Justice and Magic. They were all excited about the freshly cut grass and we're trying to leap into the piles laying along the edge of the trail. They looked like they were having so much fun doing that! Not too long after his walk, domino went outside for his next outdoor group play time. When he got out, he greeted all of his friends first thing. He spent a bit of time exploring around the fence with Magic and Millie at first. Then, when Millie ran over to the agility tunnel and went in it, Domino and Magic followed her. The huskies stood at either end of the tunnel and waited. Millie plopped onto the floor of the tunnel and rolled and wiggled around, which excited Domino. When Millie came out of the tunnel, Domino started to pounce around with her. They began to play, and had a great time together!

Hudson had a wild time with friends today. In the morning, Hudson was very excited to go outside. He was jumping up and down with excitement. When he was finally outside, he ran around to burn off some energy. He was once again very excited when it was time for his walk. When I approached him to get him leashed up, he was jumping up and down again. He walked with his pal Millie, and they had a great time! Not too long after his walk, it was time for his group to get outside for their next playtime. Hudson and Harvey immediately started to play. They were rolling on top of each other and running around. They looked like they were having so much fun together! Hudson ran over to the pool with Harvey tailing behind him. Hudson jumped in and made a huge splash, and Harvey followed. The boys played around in the pool and had so much fun digging around in the water. They both jumped out at the same time and splashed me with water! To end off his time outside, Hudson chased around a butterfly and then found a toy to carry around.
Hudson and I spent some time together after his walk in the morning. We went outside again and I hooked him up to the long leash and he knew what that meant right away! He darted for the other side of the field once he was clipped in and then came barreling back to me, jumping all around me, demanding that we play immediately! I was happy to accept his request and I grabbed the nearest toy. The first toy I grabbed was the frisbee, which got him excited but it wasn't what he was hoping for. After throwing it and not having it returned, I grabbed a rubber ball which got much more love than the frisbee did. I threw it towards the trees and Hudson went right after it, pouncing on it in the grass and then picking it up and running towards me. I thought he would drop it in front of me but he kept going and laid down in the grass with it, playing with his newly found treasure. He sat there for a little while before remembering that I was outside and then Hudson went into full on "play mode", play bowing at me and running up to me and then running away, trying to get me to chase him. I chased him around the yard, him looking back at me every couple of steps, making sure I was still there. Each time he looked back, his tail wagged even more once he saw me and then he sped up! The two of us had so much fun together this morning!

Gracie had a nice day. In the morning, she leaped up from her bed when it was time to go outside for her first outdoor time of the day. She enjoyed wandering around alongside her friends. Then, it was time for walks. She walked with her two friends, Monte and Caesar. They had a great time exploring the trails together. After her walk, Gracie went out with her group again for play time. She was a bit quiet at first, and came over to me for some cuddles. She sat with me and watched the other dogs play. But, after watching her friends play for a while she couldn't help but join in. She chased around Harvey and Hudson and barked happily. She had so much fun with them! For her extra attention, Gracie really enjoyed the one on one time. Gracie got to go outside in the front for some nice relaxing time laying on the grass in the sun getting some cuddles. She also got some yummy treats when she did some tricks. Gracie had a big grin on her face while we lounged around together. I followed her to the shade when she wanted a break from the sun, and back again. She's such a sweet girl to spent time with.

Kouza had a great day. In the morning she was happy to wander around the yard sniffing around. She also got some cuddles from me of course! She was so cuddly and had her ears down as she came over and tried to lick my face. After that, Kouza got a one-on-one walk. She really enjoyed exploring the trails at her own pace. A little later on, it was time to go outside again. She seemed happy to be outside and wandered around for a while before coming over to me. She came and barked at me then sat near my feet. I have her lots of cuddles and she was very happy. When I scratched her back legs she stretched them out. When I would talk to her, she would tilt her head so much from side to side.

Tinkerbell had a great day. Bright and early in the morning, I found Tinkerbell curled up in her bed. But when she realized it was time to go outside for her first outdoor rotation, she leaped up out of bed and followed me outside. After going outside, she settled back into her cozy bed. A little while later, it was time for walks. She walked with Baxter. They enjoyed their time together. After Tink went on her walk, her group went outside for their next play time. She was excited this time and her tail wagged as she walked outside. She explored around the yard a bit before coming over to me for cuddles. I sat down on a cement step and she came into my lap to get cuddles. She looked like she was smiling when I scratched her ears!

Dawson and Mia had another wonderful day today! The two of them were so very excited to go outside right from their first outing. Dawson was jumping around so much in their kennel that he kept landing on Mia, silly boy. She didn't seem to mind however and just waited for their chance to roam around outside. Once I opened their kennel Dawson leaped out while Mia quickly followed behind him. They then raced outside and immediately stopped to take in the feeling of the hot summer sun with the cool breeze. Mia had her nose right up in the air sniffing in all of the new and old scents around the yard. They were outside in a group of just the two of them, which meant they got the whole yard to themselves! The two of them loved the freedom and wide-open space that they got to have. Since they went out by themselves they also got a lot more one on one attention, which they absolutely adored. Mia was following me around the yard for most of her group times just waiting for me to stop walking and pet her. Dawson had a different approach and tried to stay in one spot until I came up in order to pet him. During their walk, the two little ones were just ecstatic to go outside once again. They were all over the field; playing in the freshly cut grass, sniffing the hay bales, and chasing each other around. They seemed quite tired by the end of it and went to have a morning nap before their outdoor playgroup time came along. Once outside for their outdoor playgroup I tried getting Mia to play with a few different types of toys. She was most interested in a red tennis ball but only wanted to chase it instead of retrieving it as well. She'd simply run after it and then run back to me without the toy waiting for me to somehow throw it again. Dawson spent half of his time basking in the sun before realizing he was a bit to hot and quickly moved into the shade for the rest of his group time once he did. He enjoyed walking up and rubbing his face on my legs every chance he could get!

Maggie was quite the little cuddle bug throughout the whole day today. When I went to get her for her morning walk, she was snuggling with her blankets in her kennel. Eventually, with some persuading and a belly rub, Maggie slowly walked out of her kennel and decided that she’d come for the walk with me. Soon enough, we were outside and she was bouncing all over the trail. Maggie loved following her nose everywhere it lead her. She thought that she had found something quite a few times as she stopped and pounced at the ground before realizing that nothing was there. You should have seen the look of confusion on her face. There were a couple times where Maggie had found bugs to chase and would race after them before noticing that she was still on a leash and couldn’t get to them. By the end of her walk she was ready to lie down and cuddle up with her blankets again. When it was time for her outdoor playgroup she was ready to get outside with a bit more energy than this morning. She waited patiently at the door until I came closer and then she began jumping up and door to go play. While outside I tried to get her to play with a few different toys such as a rope toy, plastic bone, and even a tennis ball but she wasn’t very interested. Instead, she followed the other dogs in her group and I around the yard to see what we were all doing. Eventually she and I sat at the picnic table while she enjoyed a chin scratch.

Caesar and Monte are getting quite comfortable here at Tails and Trails once again. This morning, the two of them were patiently waiting at the door until I went to let them out which led to Monte bouncing out of the kennel and darting outside. He was very energetic and ready to play all day long. Monte was constantly trying to get Caesar to play with him even during their first outing. Caesar wasn’t very interested in playing and instead enjoyed stretching every part of him that he could once he got outside. After a long stretch, Caesar followed Monte around to see what all he was doing before coming over to me for some cuddles. When it came to their morning walk, each of them were right at the door pushing their noses to come join me in the hallway. Once I got their leashes on they were off like bullets into the yard. Monte quickly took the lead while Caesar followed behind very close. The two boys were took turns taking the lead before Caesar finally decided that he’d like to walk beside me. The two of us walked side by side for the remainder of the walk while he occasionally got a pat on the head. Monte was of course jealous so he came back to see me a few times as well. When I went to get them out of their kennel for their outdoor play group they were both completely cuddled up on their bed and cot and very reluctant to move. Caesar was actually the first one to get up but needed a belly rub before he did. Monte was very slow to get up, probably due to all of the activity prior to this, but eventually he stood up and went outside. Once outside, Monte all of a sudden had all of his play full energy back. He was bouncing all over the place, trying to chase his friends around and get everyone to play with him. He didn’t have much luck with trying to get others to play but he and I enjoyed playing with some toys for a while. We started off with a rope toy. As soon as I grabbed the toy he was all over it; trying to chase me and grab it, pulling on the other side and jumping up to get it. That lasted for a while until I found a toy ball, which he became obsessed with. The two of us played fetch for the rest of his group time. Caesar took the more relaxed route of the playgroup and wondered around greeting his friends once he got outside. Eventually he wandered over to the pool to dip one of his paws in but it must have been a bit too cold for him because he quickly jumped back out. For the remainder of his group he was either watching Monte to make sure he knew what he was doing or sitting by a big rock beside me getting all the attention he could ever want.

Feist and Fitz each had fun filled summer days today, which they ended up being mostly together. They both began their morning on a fast paced walk with me. Feist was very excited to get outside and was constantly jumping at her kennel door to come see me. As soon as I opened the kennel door I expected her to bounce out but she waited for me to put on her leash like a good girl. Fitz was the completely opposite. He was very quiet and calm inside his kennel but once I opened it he sprang out of his kennel and wanted to start walking. These two made a great match on their walk. Feist enjoyed walking from side to side while sniffing her surroundings. Fitz followed in her path every so often but he enjoyed going his own way and also as fast as possible. However, he always made sure to come back and flash me a quick smile while trying to get a head scratch. When it came to their outdoor play group time Fitz and Feist were once again together. Fitz was ecstatic to get outside this time and could hardly wait to hop out of his kennel and into the yard. He bounced down the hallway until he got to the door and saw the multiple new friends that he just had to start sniffing. Fitz made his way around the yard greeting everyone including all of his old friends as well as new ones before meeting up with Feist again. Feist was once again quite excited and was completely replenished energy wise. She trotted down the hallway ready to play but ended up following her nose to a few different places around the yard instead. When Fitz came over to see her once again the two of them trotted off to the pool for a refreshing swim. Feist dipped her toes into the pool while Fitz hopped right into it and started splashing his paws around. I think he was getting Feist a bit too wet as she kept jumping back from his when he’d splash to close. It was almost like they were playing a game. Once their games were over, Feist followed me over to a rock where the two of us sat for a little while. She loved every minute of attention she got, especially her extra attention! I brought Feist out front and put her on a very long leash on which she could roam much further than usual. She absolutely loved the freedom and getting the opportunity to explore the yard further. Eventually, once she was done sniffing around the new places, Feist came to sit beside me and get a belly/back rub for the rest of her group time.
