Gizmo had another wonderful day here at Tails and Trails.
Since he and Bengal are the only two cats here right now they got a ton of
extra time being outside their cat condos. As soon as I let Gizmo out he went
right for one of his favourite spots; the window. He must’ve have loved looking
at all the snow falling this morning. He stayed put on the window sill for a while
until deciding to search the cat room for something fun to do. I joined him for
a little while and attempted to get him to play. He was pretty interested in following
a little dangly toy for a while but eventually wanted a change. Before I left
the room, I gave him a quick chin rub. He then sat up on part of the cat tree
for the rest of his day and waited for anyone to come pet him. Bengal was very
curious about his surroundings today. He seemed to always be sniffing
everywhere in the room in search for anything he could get his hands on. He was
especially curious when he could hear us moving or dogs passing by the cat room
door. He would trot over to the door and try to sniff out what was there. Eventually
he got tired a decided to snooze in his cat condo for the rest of the
afternoon. I went in for a while and gave him a really good snuggle which I think
he loved on this snowy winter day.
GROUPS
Little Miss.Ghira had a wonderful afternoon prancing around
with all the puppies today! They love to follow her all over the yard and she
seems to love having them around as company. They’re a perfect match for her
fun-loving attitude and she seemed to like showing them the ropes of the yard.
The 5 of them all played in the yard together and she was the first one to jump
into the fresh powdery snow when they got outside. She rolled all over it and
then began running around so the puppies could chase her!
This group took one look outside and immediately switched to
crazy mode as soon as their paws touched the fluffy snow. Sadie zoomed around
all of her friends, begging them to chase her and they all were only too happy
to oblige to her request. Eventually she had to stop for a quick breather so
she went sniffing around the yard for a little while but was very happy to pick
things back up as soon as she caught her breath! Finnigan pounced from one side
of the yard to the other, completely covering himself from head to toe in fresh
fluffy snow. To keep himself warm he ran around as fast as he could with his
friends, all the while still going in the deep snow as much as possible, what a
workout! Kyah was keeping a watchful eye on everyone in the yard as they were
playing and popped herself into a couple wrestling matches. She noticed all the
ladies in the group were very interested in her boyfriend Justice so she went
over to sit and make sure that they knew that he's already taken ;). Bella
nonetheless stuck to Justice like glue and even boxed around with him a bit,
showing him who's boss! She's so playful with him and follows him around
wherever he goes. Bella went around the yard with him, sniffing here and there
and when it was time to play, she was in just about every chase and wrestling
game he was involved in. Oakley just loves to be around us humans when she’s
outside for group time. She came over and snuggled right up to my side and then
joined one of the other ladies when she came out. She loves to have her ears
rubbed and to get lots of love and attention from everyone. Even her gal-pal
Bella came over to give her a kiss on the cheek, she's so loveable! :).
The minute Max stepped outside and ran himself over to where
Rosie and Ivy were, and the girls knew it was go time! Rosie could hear him
coming right away and readied herself for him to launch them right into a
wrestling match. It was tough to keep track at times who was winning but
eventually Max bowed down to little Rosie and followed her around to try to
entice her into a rematch. Rosie was only too happy to get going again so they
ran all over the yard to get warmed up again. Ivy played the part of referee
and would bark orders at them from the sidelines, reminding them to keep it
clean and make sure they were both playing fairly. From time to time Max would
take a quick break to come see me and make sure I was watching him and then
return to his lady-friend Rosie. She doesn't like to let him rest much so when
he steps outside he knows he's in for a tough workout, and he loves it!
These pups sure were happy to be surrounded by all the fresh
snow today! Even Rocky took some time to roll around in the snow for a little
bit and then just relaxed by the door while everyone else took a chance to jump
around and let their wiggles out. He got to watch his sister Maya play around
with her pal Mac and the two of them put on a nice wrestling match for the
other pups to observe! Maya played around for a bit with another cutie named
Teddy who sure gave her a run for her money today! He was darting all around
her playing keep away with himself and running all around the place for her to
chase him. When Maddie saw all the commotion between the two of them, he came
over to see what was going on. She joined them for a little bit and then
decided that prancing around in the snow would be more fun than wrestling at
the moment, so that is exactly what she did. Jumping right into the deepest
part, she tunneled herself into the fresh powder to completely coat her face
and then quickly shook it all off. Benji was a lucky guy today because in the
midst of heading out into the yard, he found himself a bone that he quickly
picked up to bring outside with him. He kept to himself for the most part so
that he didn’t have to risk anyone else snatching up his new found treasure. He
did play in the irresistible snow for a little while but then could see someone
eyeing his toy from across the yard so he quickly retreated back to it to keep
it safely to himself.
Naughty was full of beans today! Perhaps it was the
combination of the lovely temperature and the gorgeous mountain of snow we
received but she was only too happy to get outside and run around with her
friends! She loved to play with her pals Scarlett and Lola! The pups all had
fun running and playing together and Naughty rolled around with her friends so
much that she got most of her fur wet! Luckily, this didn’t bother her or slow
her down one bit. She came over to me several times during playtime to hop up
and say hi to me and to give me kisses :). Cooper came outside at was just
overwhelmed with happiness with the scenery. He took a quick lap around the
yard, busying himself with all the smells and then decided to try to join in on
some of the fun that the other pups were having. He got to be chased around by
Naughty and a couple other friends in their group before he started a wrestling
match with all of them. Naughty sure had Cooper on his toes though, she's a
great match for his personality! After a little while, it was time to come in
to rest and reset for the next round of groups :).
I was quite impressed with how quickly Chloe was able to
find herself a toy in the yard today. Even with 50 centimetres dropped
yesterday she had no problem sniffing out and digging up a rubber bone hidden
in the mountain of snow outside. She would then rebury it and get all excited
re-digging it up again so that she could trot all around the yard with it to
make the other pups jealous. Boomer and Forest were happy to meet a new friend
today and proceeded to follow him all around the yard trying to get to know him
better. When this friend decided to venture to another part of the yard, they
went off by themselves to sniff around and always made sure to keep close to
the other pups in case anything interesting happened. Storm and Maverick
quickly became best buds and had a ton of fun prancing in the snow and
wrestling with one another. Maverick had so much fun today that both times he
went outside, he was always the last one in! He would get on an interesting
scent and would follow it all around the yard and then would be too busy with
it to pay attention to us or anyone else. Every now and again though, he would
lock eyes with Storm and the two of them would start playing all over again!
Storm met a few other new pups today and was super polite to all of them.
Boomer and Forest came over to check him out and then left to do their own
thing while Storm introduced himself to Maverick and Shyla. Aura and Shyla were
another perfect match and had a blast running around with one another as both
of their brothers did the same thing! Aura has such a sweet nature to her, very
similar to Shyla so it’s no wonder why the two of them get along so well!
Well the golden girls sure do know how to have a good time
when they’re provided with nice fluffy snow! Sally and Glo love to be right
around each other the whole time they’re outside and Hazel wanted to be right
in on their fun too! It’s tricky being a golden though because those long toe
hairs attract puffy snow and breaks are needed to freshen up. The girls took a
bit of time to pick the snow out of their toes and then got right back to their
fun! They ran all around the yard, each taking turns being the chaser and the
chased and then stopping from time to time to interact with the other pups and
to wrestle (of course). They met up with their pal Baxter, who was ready to get down to business. The goldens (especially Glo) were up for a good run and Baxter made a great partner. He's so quick on his feet and Glo loved the challenge. Baxter pounced around in the snow in the main yard after the chase slowed down and he was happy to give his playmates a quick break. As he was bouncing around, Baxter got closer and closer to the playstructure, which he found very interesting. He stuch his head in the entrance way to have a better look and to fluff up the undisturbed snow. Meanwhile, Kaos and Shenzi were so happy with all the energy in
their group that they decided to get in on all the play time with Sally, Glo
and Hazel and ran and wrestled their way around the yard too! Breaking from
time to time to play with just each other, Kaos and Shenzi sure got their
exercise in today and definitely had a lot of fun doing it J. Tasha took the
afternoon to reflect as she walked around the yard, keeping to herself for the
most part. It was only in the later times of being outside that she actually
decided to join the other pups for a little bit of active play time. She would
watch her boy Boris from across the yard and made sure he was playing nicely
with his friends. Boris found himself being completely ecstatic with all the
new snow and friends and was keen to get in on all the action with the pups. He
played around with all the girls and then it was time to come in for a little
nap!
