Cattery

Chief was happily lounging in his hammock when I entered the cattery. He gave a little chirp in greeting then started started rolling around. I gave him some pets then went to see what Ziggy was up to. I found him curled up in his cubby. Ziggy was happy to get some ear scratches. As I went to leave him to his nap, Ziggy got up to have a stretch on the perch and gave me a look asking for more pets. Shortly afterwards it was Missy's turn out in the room. When I went to let her out I found her curled up in her bed, as comfy as could be. Like Chief, Missy started roll around and entice me to give her some pets. I was of course happy to oblige. Next I went to visit with Ekkaia and Fawkes. They were both curled up together in the cubby. Not wanting to bother them too much I gave Fawkes some ear rubs and as I moved to give Ekkaia some he met me part way. He wanted to give the camera a once over before he'd settle for pets.

Groups

The first group of the morning were ready to get outside after walks. Molly, Jack and Bandit made their way out to the far yard where Molly and Jack were off in search of toy while, Bandit was just happy to check out whatever caught his fancy. When it became obvious that the others weren't going to leave the agility yard to join us, we went and joined them. Ying, Ripley, and Max all came racing over to say hi and see what was going on. Jack and Molly went galloping past to continue their search for a toy. Bandit continued his explorations in the new yard, while Ying came to see me. Ying was so excited to see me, and it was pretty adorable! He tried to get as close to me as possible and demanded many pets. As we were standing around I noticed a toy near my feet and Max, Jack and Molly were suddenly all standing in front of me, waiting impatiently for me to throw it. We got a nice game of fetch going, and at one point, while the rest went racing off, Bandit headed over to me for some pets. Ying had decided to go running with Max, Jack and Molly, when he came back he planted himself at my side wanting more love, too. Ripley wasn't feeling the game of fetch today, but she was content to meander around the yard, doing some exploring. Ripley eventually came to have some snuggle time with me before going to hang out in the tunnel. She explored every inch of it, both inside and out! Bandit set off to do a little more exploring of his own. He wasn't gone long when he was back wanting more pets. When he was finished, Bandit went to see if Max was up for a run.

The littles were up next. Maggie was feeling kind of snuggly this morning and took her time getting out of bed at walk time. She used her walk to wake up fully and stretch her legs in preparation for group time. She was much more excited to head out into the yard when group time came, and she came racing over to bounce around my legs, asking for some pets. Maggie then ran off to say hello to Emma and Maya. Ollie took the opportunity to have some pets and snuggles with me while Maggie was visiting with Emma and Maya. Maya and Maggie headed to see what else was going on, leaving Emma to roam around. As Emma walked around the yard, Brodie came over and started to bounce around her, hoping she'd want to play. Cara left her brother to his fun and came trotting over to see what I was up to. Meanwhile, Rocky and Nanook were feeling more independent and set off to do some exploring near the playroom door. Maggie was on her way back to me when she met up with Leo. The two of them spent some time checking one another over and saying their hellos. On the other side of the yard, Maya went charging over to tackle Emma. The two of them then went racing and wrestling out to the far yard. Brodie, not wanting to be excluded, went racing after them, singing his referee song. Cara saw her brother take off and bolted after him. Ollie spotted me crouching down taking pictures of Cara, Brodie and the others, so he came trotting over to get himself as close as possible to soak up some love and attention. Cara spotted Ollie and I, and decided to take a little break from chasing Brodie and Emma. She then took a few steps back so she could watch the others and talk at me. Over in the main yard, I spotted Rocky having some run rolling in the snow. He was interrupted when Emma, Maya and Brodie went running into the main yard. Rocky then decided to head over and have a little visit with his sister. Maggie noticed that I was now free for more snuggles and rushed over. After she left, Nanook took his turn to come and say hello, where he had a good roll around in the snow between bum scratches. When Nanook was finished, he headed back out into the main yard to do some exploring. While he was out there, Cara stopped to say hello and to see if he wanted to play. It wasn't long before Cara and Nanook took off racing around the yard together! A little ways away, Brodie made his way back to Emma and Maya. This caught Ollie's eye, so he decided to make his way over as well to say hi to his friends. Back in the main yard Rocky was having some fun rolling in the snow until it was time to head inside.

It was time to switch things up, so Macie went for her morning walk with Tycho, another of our huskies. They hit it off of course, so Tycho joined Macie in the yard for group time as well. She couldn't wait to get out and see if Tycho wanted to play. The two of them ended up in the far yard, where they gave each other a good once over. After their greetings, Macie and Tycho started to bounce around and have some fun. The bouncing soon turned into running, and they went racing out to the agility yard. Once through the gate and around the corner, Macie set out to do a little exploring. She poked around for a little while before going back to see if Tycho wanted to play some more. He did, and the fun started once more.

Gryphon and Glenda Lou started their day with a trail walk with Nicole. They seemed to enjoy the warmer temperature today, and they closed their eyes and let the wind blow through their fluffy hair. Glenda Lou and Gryphon were quick to start running when they entered the yad for group time. They did a couple laps around the main yard before they took off for the agility yard. Gryphon decided to head out and do a little exploring. Glenda Lou was quite happy to continue racing around by herself. She stopped occasionally to check in with Gyphon before she went racing off once more. After a little while, Gryphon left off his explorations to go and rejoin Glenda Lou. After a little more running Glenda Lou made her way over to me for some pets. She then left me to trot after Brenyn, and the girls took turns leading each other around the yard.

The last group of the morning couldn't wait to get outside, having waited very patiently for their turn. Everyone went tearing out to the agility yard, where Scarlett did a few quick laps. Kimi soon found herself being thoroughly checked over by Shyla and Finnigan. Finnigan then went running off to join Maverick as he followed Tanner around the yard. Kimi and Shyla then decided to head out to do some exploring, and Kyah, Tanner and Lobo were also off doing some exploring around the yard. At one point Shyla, Kimi and Lobo all ended up in the same part of the yard. Lobo then went off to visit Maverick and Finnigan, while Shyla went to race around the yard for a bit. She met up with Maverick, who decided to join his sister as she ran around. Tanner took a break from exploring and headed over to me for some pets and love. All of the back scratches got Tanner feeling frisky, and he started bouncing around to see if anyone wanted to play. Tanner's bouncing and leaping caught Shyla, Kyah and Scarlett's attention and soon he had the three girls following him around. Kyah then went and hopped up onto the tunnel. Finnigan and Scarlett saw Kyah being silly and went running over to join in. Kimi stood a little ways away watching and debating about joining in, but Kyah then lept off to see Maverick, Scarlett and Finnigan. Lobo then went trotting over to see what was going on, and Kyah hopped back up on the tunnel. This time she caught Shyla's attention, so she and Maverick went over to join Kyah. Meanwhile, Kimi decided this was the time and went to see Kyah as well. Shyla branched off from the group at the tunnel and went to play with Scarlett and Finnigan. As they went racing off, they passed by Lobo who decided to trot along behind them. Tanner stood watching their antics and debated whether or not to join in. Kimi took some time to herself to go exploring, and she stopped to look around at the ice. She stood and tilted her head from side to side as if she was listening to the ice! Lobo, Kyah and Maverick ended up all meeting up over by one of the big rocks. They all spent some time checking one another over and seeing if maybe anyone wanted to play. In the end they all scattered.

Enhanced

Ollie and I had a great enhanced session this afternoon! As soon as he saw me coming to get him he started hopping up and down on the door of his kennel. When he got out, he trotted alongside me excited to get into the playroom for some fun. When we got into the playroom, I first asked him to sit for me. Right away he sat and even stuck his paw up in the air for me to give me a high-5! Then I wanted to see how his sit and stay was so I took him all the way across the room, asked him to sit for me then slowly started to back away from him. He only tried to follow me once and then understood what I was asking him to do. So we did a couple more of those followed by some more sit and I tried to throw in some lie down but he was more in the mood to snuggle after all the sitting and running across the room he had just done. So I sat down on the floor and he hopped right into my lap for snuggles. We sat on the floor together for a while and he got plenty of ear rubs and back scratches from me before we tried a few more 'downs', which Ollie completed, although we'll need to practice that one a bit more. It was then time to go back to sleep in his kennel :). I laid down some extra blankets for him so that he'd have some more stuff to snuggle with and he hopped up on his snuggly cot and curled up.
