Cats

The cat room was very exciting today with all of the wonderful cats that are boarding this weekend. I got to spend lots of time with them and played with them one on one. Bengal was very active this morning. When I walked in she immediately got up from her nice cozy spot in the cat bed to come and cuddle up to me. After cuddling with me she ran around the cat room into her kennel and then back out through the chair. She had lots of fun with me today and loved all of the ear scratches I gave her. Next up I went to visit Allie who was lounging around in her condo. She was sleeping when I first saw her but then when she saw me she woke up so that she could get some cuddles. She loved the cuddles that I gave her and settled down in her condo after having the room to herself over night. The last cat I went to see was the adorable Gizmo who was up in his cat condo. When he saw me walk over he jumped down onto the ground so that he could get some ear scratches. After our short cuddle time he went and explored around the room rubbing himself against the nicest looking spots. When his exploring was done he went over and sat at the window for the rest of the time watching all the excitement unfold outside in the parking lot.

Groups

Benji loves to be outside, especially since the weather was warmer today. He decided to explore the yard for a bit and say hello to the other dogs. He noticed Ghira playing and pounced on her, having a brief wrestling match before Benji got distracted by me taking pictures and ran over for cuddles. He danced around while I gave him a back rub. Benji then wandered off to hunt through the snow for toys. Since most of them were buried, I made him a snowball instead. He jumped up to see what I had and then took off before I even threw it, getting halfway across the yard before he realized I was still holding the ball and raced back to get it.

Ghira had a great time today playing with Pepper and Mac. She loves to bound through the deep snow, especially when she's got a friend to chase. I put together some snowballs for the dogs to chase. Ghira was very excited when she saw this new toy, and immediately raced over to me. When I threw it, she and Pepper bolted after the snowball and almost tumbled over Mac when he darted under their feet. Ghira pounced on the spot where the ball had landed and was very confused to see that it had disappeared. She was searching for it when Pepper arrived and pounced on her. Ghira, forgetting about the snowball, was soon in the midst of a wrestling match with her friend.

Pepper was a bit shy today, though once she got outside that changed quickly. After sniffing my hand and letting me pet her once or twice, Pepper noticed Ghira running around in the snow and raced after her. While she was leaping through the snow, her friend Mac hurried past and caught Pepper's attention. She veered off course and chased after Mac instead. Ghira saw this and joined in the chase. Soon all three of them were running around. Pepper also played fetch with Ghira and I, and a couple of snowballs. She had so much fun bouncing around with her friends!

Olive joined us in the kitchen during lunch time today, and she absolutely loved all of the attention. During groups Olive decided to keep things quiet, and she explored the yard for a while with her friend Bogart. Every once in a while she would pause her sniffing and wander over to say hello to me, and get some cuddles. When I knelt down to pet her, Olive put her feet on my knees and tried to lick my chin. She loves to be the centre of attention. Once we had cuddled enough, Olive went to further investigate all the interesting scents in every corner of the yard.

Bogart did so well with his group today. He was a little shy at first, but once everyone had said hello to him, Bogart was happy to explore the yard with his new friend, Olive. He checked out all of the new scents, and once he was satisfied that everything had been thoroughly sniffed, Bogart trotted over to see me. He loved cuddling and being rubbed behind his ears, and posed very nicely for the camera. I held up a tiny snowball to see if he wanted to play, and Bogart immediately jumped up to see the strange toy. I tossed it a few feet away and he bounced after it, only to see it disappear in the snow. For the rest of the group time, we played chase with the snowballs.

Brooke started out her group time by playing catch with me and a few snowballs. Her aim was just about perfect and she caught them right in her mouth the majority of the time. While we were playing, her friend Naughty noticed the activity and raced over to join us. Brooke bounced around with Naughty for a while. When she paused for a break, Brooke saw me kneel down to get a picture and immediately ran over to see me. She was so excited to get some attention that she would hardly sit still to let me pet her, and just wiggled around while I gave her a back rub. Brooke then caught a whiff of something good from the other side of the yard and trotted away with her nose in the snow to investigate.

Naughty is always in a super playful mood and today was no different! She practically flew out the door. Her first item of business was having a good roll in the snow, kicking her feet around and rubbing her back and head on the ground. Once Naughty was nicely covered in snow, she jumped up and raced off to find a friend to play with. I think Naughty must have played with everybody once it was time to head in, especially her friend Brooke. Whenever Naughty wasn't wrestling with another dog, she was leaping through the snow and searching for toys. I made a few snowballs for her to catch, and Naughty had a blast chasing them around.

Teddy and Kizmet had a nice, quiet day today starting with a walk in the snow. Both of them took their time and made sure to sniff almost every tree they came across. When it was time to play outside with their group, Teddy and Kizmet stuck with me for attention and cuddles. Once they were satisfied with the attention, the two of them decided to explore the yard together. Occasionally they would run into another dog and Kizmet would happily give them a lick on the nose before the boys continued on. They cheered on their friend Naughty while she ran around. Teddy laid down to clean the snow off of his feet and then had a nice roll, which caught the attention of his buddy Brooke who came running over. Brooke is Kizmet's not-so-secret admirer and decided to follow him around, while he was exploring the yard. Kizmet also had a good roll in the snow before it was time to head inside.

Chloe C. found a rubber bone to play with as soon as she got outside. She held it by one end and carried it around to show the rest of her group. When Chloe noticed me throwing snowballs for the other dogs, she got super excited and chased after them with the bone still in her mouth, and faced a dilemma when she attempted to catch the snowballs without putting down the bone. Eventually she settled on just the bone and raced off with it. Chloe pranced around the yard, attempting to get someone else to notice her toy so they would play with her. She caught the attention of Sophie, who raced over to see what she was doing. The girls chased each other around for a while, until it was time to head in.

Boomer and Forrest were super excited to go outside today. Both of them were in the mood for some attention, so after saying hello to the other dogs, they hurried over to see me for cuddles. They followed me into the agility yard to see what the rest of the group was up to. Boomer ran into Oliver sniffing around and decided to join him. The yard smelled very good today with all the rain, so Boomer had a bit of a challenge trying to follow every scent at once. Forrest hung around with me for a bit longer. Then the boys noticed Sophie, Summit and Bruiser running around and chased after them. When the group was over, Boomer and Forrest were ready for naps!

Oliver was delighted to see some warmer weather today. Every thing must have smelled quite good because he was running all over the place with his nose to the ground. Oliver also made time to visit me for some cuddles in between his investigations of the yard. He bumped into Boomer and Forrest and decided to explore with them for a while. Later, once everything had been thoroughly sniffed, Oliver bounced over to me for some playtime. He had a blast running around with Sophie and chasing some snowballs. Once it was time to head inside, Oliver raced up to the playroom to explore and play with all the toys in there.

Sophie loves to play fetch! Most of the toys in the yard were being used or were buried under the snow, so Sophie and I decided to use the snow to play instead. I packed together some snowballs for Sophie to catch and she had a blast trying to snatch them out of the air. Whenever one made it to the ground, she would jump on where it had landed and attempt to dig it up, which resulted in spraying snow everywhere! Sophie then noticed Bruiser and Summit having a wrestling match and decided that she wanted to be a part of this as well. She pounced right on top of Summit and then took off with the other two on her heels. They had a big game of chase with the rest of the group before it was time to go inside.

Storm and Aura were all over the place during groups. Storm made it his mission to play with everyone. First, he partnered up with Duffy and they wrestled and ran around together until she stopped for a breather, and Storm raced off in search of another playmate. He bumped into Maverick and Parker, who were more than happy to play with Storm. Aura was busy exploring on the other side of the yard and watching her brother bounce around. Occasionally another dog would bump into Aura and she would have a brief wrestling match with them. She also had a race with Storm before it was time to head in, which Aura easily won when Storm was distracted by Shyla and Dexter chasing each other around.

Shyla and Maverick had a great walk together this morning, they were so excited to get outside that they could hardly sit still while I put the leashes on them. They had a ton of fun shoveling through the snow on the trail with their noses, or leaping through it. During groups, Maverick made a new friend, Parker, and played with him for a while. He also spent some time chasing snowballs that I threw for him, and wrestling with his buddy Storm. Shyla had a more laid-back day and spent the first part of groups exploring the yard with her friend Aura, until she noticed Maverick running around. She immediately hurried after him and Parker. Along the way, Shyla bumped into Dexter, and the two of them played chase for the rest of outside time.

Duffy had a great time with her group today. She had a blast running around with Storm, and was very eager to play with the others. When she paused for a break, Duffy sniffed around the yard and checked everything out. She ran into Maverick, who was looking for a playmate, and immediately play-bowed in front of him. They then jumped up and raced off into the yard. Duffy ran around with her new friends for a while and occasionally stopped to investigate an interesting smell. Before it was time to head in, Duffy had played with everyone. She raced Parker inside and hurried up to the playroom for more fun.

Dexter spent the first half of his group exploring the yard and saying hello to everyone. While he sniffed around, I packed together a snowball and tossed it in his direction. It landed a few feet away and Dexter immediately paused what he was doing and pounced on it. He was very excited when he noticed me putting together another ball. Dexter raced over and almost ran right into me, he was just so energetic! We played fetch with the snowballs, until Dexter bumped into Parker, Maverick and Shyla running around, and he had to join in. For the rest of the group, Dexter raced with Shyla and wrestled with Maverick. He was having so much fun it took a bit of persuasion in the form of treats to bring him inside, where he quickly raced up to the playroom.

Sally and Glo started off their group time as they usually do - wrestling with each other. Sally pounced and jumped up, while Glo raced around her feet. When Glo noticed the other Goldens, Hazel and Pippin, playing together, she hurried over to join them. Sally went with her and the four girls wrestled for a bit. Then Sally noticed me holding a snowball and quickly raced to get it when I tossed it in the air. We played catch-the-snowball until Glo decided to interrupt, almost jumping on top of Sally to get the ball. This started another play match between the girls, which carried over all the way inside. By the time their group had finished, both of them were ready for a cozy nap before afternoon rotations.

Hazel found her look-a-like and best buddy, Pippin the moment she stepped outside. Immediately the girls pounced on each other while their friend Glo raced around them in circles. Pippin stuck her head in the snow and rolled around with her feet flailing everywhere. Hazel laid down and poked at her friend with her nose, before jumping on her. Both of the girls took off. When her friend disappeared down the tunnel, Hazel and Glo teamed up with one at either end to wait for Pippin - who seemed to have disappeared. Hazel stuck her head inside and made it about half-way into the tunnel when she quickly put it in reverse and tumbled back into the snow. As soon as Pippin came out of the tunnel, the girls immediately jumped back to playing.

Boris was playing with everyone! First, he wrestled with his big sister Magic. Boris tried to be sneaky and grab at Magic's legs, but she was very prepared and quickly sent Boris tumbling to the ground. Justice noticed this and ran over to see what was happening. This soon sparked a play-fight with Boris and Justice, who was happy to teach the younger dog some tricks to use on his sister, Magic. Tasha was busy exploring the yard when she saw Boris and Magic running around together. She laid down and watched them, occasionally barking and pawing at the snow like she was cheering for them. Then suddenly Tasha leaped up and raced after the two of them, tackling Boris. The three of them played together until it was time to head in.

Pippin had so much fun with her group today. She teamed up with the other Goldens, Glo and Hazel, for some play time. Pippin and Hazel rolled around on the ground together and pounced on each other while Glo cheered them on. While the girls were running around, Pippin took a shortcut through the tunnel, but when she noticed Glo at the other end Pippin decided to just lay down in the tunnel and wait. The others were very confused! Eventually they had to recruit the help of Justice to venture into the tunnel. Then Pippin bolted out the other end and took off across the yard, the other girls in hot pursuit.
