Cats

Missy was so happy when it was her turn to roam the cat room. She first leaped up onto the windowsill to see what was going on outside. She sat there for a minute or so, then wandered her way to the cat climber. She enjoyed rubbing up against the different textured poles and lounged on the ledges. She enjoyed having her back and her head rubbed. Bengal was watching Missy wander around, and this got her quite excited for her turn as well. The time came for her to be let out, and she happily started walking around the room. She was very chatty, and kept meowing as she made her way over to the windowsill. She sat up there for a while and stared out the window. She also really enjoyed getting some cuddles. She would walk up against my legs while I knelt down with her. Gizmo enjoyed spending this chilly day curled up in his bed. When I came to see him, he enjoyed getting some cuddles. When he wandered around the cat room on his own, he was very chatty and enjoyed being on the cat climber.

Groups

Is it ever cold outside today! It was a bit too chilly for walks this morning, so instead the dogs got to team up with two or three others for extra indoor and outdoor play. During regular groups it was still very cold so we kept outside time short and had lots of play time inside instead.

Sally and Glo were the welcoming commitee today - they said hello to their two new group mates, Maggie and Mylo, and immediately invited both of them to play. Sally was darting all over the place with the rest of the dogs. Every once in a while she would pause for a break and have a nice roll in the snow, before returning to the big game of chase. She fit right in with the other Golden Retrievers in her group. Glo was also busy running around, but she wasn't paying as much attention to the dogs, instead she had her sights set on every toy she could find. Glo found a nice bone and paraded around with it to show everyone, before settling down for a chew. Despite the chilly weather, both girls were happy to play outside and didn't seem to mind the temperature.

Hazel was all over the place today. During our short groups this morning, she hung out in the playroom with her buddies Sally and Glo, and bounced around with them for a bit before laying down to chew on a ball. When it was time for our regular mid-morning groups, Hazel bounded right out the door and started darting around the yard. Soon every dog was running laps together. They paused for a breather and Hazel, not tired at all, pounced on me instead. She then partnered up with her friend Lola to sniff around for a bit. While exploring, Hazel discovered a bone buried in the snow and decided to chew on it. She carried it over to where her friend Glo was also busy with a toy, and laid down to chew.

Chloe has so much fun playing with every toy she can find. She loves to shake them around and show them off to everybody. Sometimes she'll drop it right beside me or another dog and wait until we notice before snatching it back up and dancing away with her prize. Today in the playroom she found a Jolly Ball and was knocking it around while her friend Sam cheered her on. Outside, Chloe discovered a little rope toy hidden in the snow. She got close enough to let me grab it and we played tug-of-war, which Chloe of course won. Then she decided to run around the yard and show everyone what she had found. She even stuck her head in the tunnel a few times!

Riley and Roobee decided to keep things quiet today. In their opinion it was much too cold for play and time should be spent cuddling or exploring instead. Occasionally the two of them would poke each other and then take off across the yard, running around to warm up before settling down again and returning to their investigations. Riley was distracted by his friends playing chase and had to watch them for a bit, while Roobee sniffed away at the other side of the yard. When she found something interesting, she would run to fetch Riley and the two of them would hurry over to see what it was.

Boomer and Forrest were delighted by the arrival of their new friend, Sancho. They all said their hellos with their tails wagging. Suddenly Sancho took off to the agility yard, and Boomer and Forrest both hurried after him. Their friend had discovered a rope toy and was busy running around with it. Boomer was very amused by this and bounced after Sancho, barking happily and attempting to catch their friend. Sancho was a bit quicker than Boomer, so of course Forrest had to help his brother out. Boomer and Forrest spent the rest of group time running around, and when it was time to come inside for more play they both dashed up to the playroom with their friend Chloe leading the way.

Maggie E. decided to make the best of the day and spend the little dogs' brief outside time cuddling with me. The little guys just went out for a quick pee and a sniff before heading into the playroom to run around. Once in the playroom, Maggie still wasn't done with cuddling and she sat at my feet while I took pictures and gave her some attention. She then wandered around for a bit and said hello to the other dogs. Her buddy Mac tried to convince her to play, and Maggie just gave him a slobbery kiss on his nose and trotted back to me, putting her paws on my lap and asking for more cuddles.

Benji was super excited to go outside today. Even though it was so cold, he made the best of the weather and bounced around in the snow for a bit before it was time to go inside to play. He teamed up with his friend Tank and sniffed around the playroom. Benji played a bit with Rocky, Baxter and Ghira before he decided to cuddle with me. Benji tried to climb into my lap when I knelt down and we almost fell over! While on my lap, he nosed at my fingers whenever I stopped petting him. Once Benji had enough attention, he was content to just relax with his friends and enjoy the warmth of inside.

Ghira partnered up with her equally-energetic friend, Baxter, during groups today and they certainly didn't let the cold weather stop them from having fun. Outside, they were running all over the yard with each other. Ghira was super happy to have someone who was as excited about playing as she was. They never stopped moving! Even when it was time to head inside, Ghira and Baxter raced through the door, and promptly pounced on each other once they were inside. Instead of chasing each other, they settled for a wrestling match instead. Ghira managed to hold onto her title of champion, and after a few rounds they both hurried over to say hello to me.

Teddy looks super stylish in his little coat. He doesn't enjoy the cold and was much happier to play inside. In the playroom, once he sniffed everything thoroughly, Teddy climbed onto the cot and watched his friends play. He then bounced over to me and sat in my lap for a bit, happily wagging his tail whenever another dog walked over. Maddie decided to put her outside time to good use and darted to the far corner of the yard to sniff around for a bit, with her friends Rocky and Leo. When it was time to come inside, she stuck with Leo and they relaxed in the playroom. Maddie also made sure to keep one eye on her little buddy Teddy and would check up on him every once in a while, giving him a quick sniff before returning to her spot beside Leo.

Viggo was very happy to go outside, despite the temperature, and immediately put his nose to the ground and started sniffing once he got out the door. The yard must have smelled quite good because he was darting all over the place. While following one scent, Viggo bumped into his friend Naughty, and decided to abandon his adventure to play with her instead. He followed her all over the yard while Naughty ran around and played with the others. When Naughty bounced over to see me, Viggo was right on her heels and almost ran into me. He was very excited for the attention.

Millie was happy for the extra indoor play time today. She pranced around in the yard for a bit, before deciding that she didn't really like the wind and set off in search of a warmer spot. Millie found the perfect corner where she could sniff around, watch the goings-on of the other dogs and still stay nice and cozy. Later, while the group was slowly making their way back to the door for some inside play, Millie stumbled upon Ariel who was looking for a friend to play with. The girls quickly pounced on each other and had a brief wrestling match before racing inside to continue their game.

Naughty is such a friendly girl. She loves to be the center of attention and always makes sure her group-mates are having fun. Today, she caught the interest of Viggo, and happily led him on a big chase around the yard. She also attempted to include me in the game, by running circles around me, before taking off and returning a few moments later. Naughty was having so much fun that she didn't even notice when Viggo paused for a break and she continued to race all over the yard. She then hurried over to say hello to me with her tail wagging and attempted to climb into my lap when I knelt down to pet her. When I broke the news to her that she was a little too big to be a lap dog, Naughty just licked my face and then bounded away for more play time.

Clifford had a blast playing one-on-one with me today. He was very determined to get me running around the yard with him. He would prance along beside me, then suddenly dig his feet into the snow and take off. I decided to play fetch with him for a bit to burn off some of his energy. Clifford pounced on the rope toy I had thrown him, after almost catching it in mid-air, and then leaped up with it in his mouth. He was shaking it around so hard I'm surprised he didn't fall right over! Clifford flung it up in the air, jumped to catch it and then whipped it back and forth until he was satisfied that it wouldn't cause any more trouble.
