Max sure had an energetic day today! He and his gal pal Rosie had a blast zooming all over the yard. Their eyes locked from the moment they stepped outside and from there it was just a blur of the two of them zooming all over the place. Rosie sure keeps him on his toes and was even using him as a thing to jump over and rough and tumble with. Max sure didn't mind though and welcomed all of the fantastic energy that he could take advantage of. Anywhere Rosie went, Max went and vice versa. The two of them could not keep away from each other, though Max tried to hide from her in the agility tunnel briefly to catch his breath!
Zac + Apollo=BFF's!!! From the moment I got everyone out in the yard these two were having an absolute blasty blast, running like mad men all over the place. They stopped only to be able to wrestle with each other more and eventually gave up the chase altogether and just settled on a good old fashioned wrestling match. Zac was only too happy to let Apollo hop and jump all over him and eventually when they both got tired enough, they wandered around the yard in search of toys and interesting smells together:). Bella set her eyes on our boy Justice and it was pure love at first sight. She started to whine and kiss his face and her tail was going wild when she met him. The two of them went from corner to corner of the yard together, chasing and wrestling with one another and investigating the yard along the way. I've never seen Bella so entranced with another dog before; it was a sight to see! She stuck to him like glue and was having the time of her life, even having fun with one of our girls Magic who decided to join in on her and Justice's fun. Dougie spent his afternoon bouncing back and forth between the two major wrestling matches along with taking advantage of the other dogs being busy by having most if not all the smells to himself. Eventually when sniffing around was no longer amusing enough for him, he would go to the nearest wrestling match and either join in or try to entice the other pups to start a chase game. Most times he was very convincing and could get the pups running around but other times he was happy to just be involved in the play time!
Sadie sure was the "it" girl today in the yard. As soon as her paws hit the yard ground she was running around with the boys Zim and Clifford, getting them to chase and wrestle with her. The boys were only too happy to oblige her and these three spent all their time with each other. Briefly they each took their turns sniffing around and Zim liked to check in with me regularly for a little bit of a back scratch but more often than not, I could easily locate any of those three by looking for just one of them and finding the others close by. Glenda Lou and Gryphon were playing a game with just the two of them which I call "Run from one end of the yard to the other as fast as possible". They both did this pretty much the whole time they were outside with the occasional sniff here and there when they would reach the different ends of the yard. Gryphon occasionally would look over at the wrestling match between Sadie, Zim and Clifford but decided to stick by his sister in her running escapade! Timber was trying to be as involved as possible in the trio's wrestling match but instead of getting right in on the action, he decided to play the part of referee and remained on the sidelines to make sure everyone was playing fairly. Sometimes he would take a referee break to sniff around the yard, check in with Glenda Lou and her crazy antics or look for toys in the yard. Sadie even took a brief break from all the activity to see what Glenda Lou was up to and tried to convince her to come play with them. Unfortunately, Sadie was not quite convincing enough and Glenda went back to her brother and they started their game up again. Clifford was a very happy boy when just before his wrestling match began, he found a nice bone hidden in the snow. He lay down in the fresh powder to chomp on it for a little while and then all the action began!
Miss Maggie was super happy to see some fellow golden girls in the yard this afternoon. Sally and Glo were very excited to see her as well and the three of them were practically inseperable from the moment they stepped outside. It was wrestling match and chase game one after the other and the only time they took breaks was when Maggie needed to roll in the freshly fallen snow! She spent a little while rolling all over it, getting it right into her fur and when she was satisfied she got right back into playing! Zoe absolutely adored being around these three wild girls and was right on their tails the whole time. Cooper found a great friend in Sally and the two of them wrestled together for quite some time before Cooper went to play with another new friend named Riley! Riley and Roobie started their afternoon off with a quick lap around the yard to check things out. They then saw all the commotion in the other part of the yard and proceeded to join the others in the fun. Riley really enjoyed hanging out with his new bud, Cooper, and the two of them played around for a little while. Roobie frequently checked in with Riley to make sure all was well and then would proceed to walk around the yard, barking orders at everyone, making sure they knew she's the boss in the yard! Riley then started to play with the golden girls and then it was time to come inside. It was all Chloe could do to peel herself away from the kong that she found the minute she stepped outside. She stuck with that toy and would kick it around for herself if I wasn't able to do it for her; shes quite resourceful! She looks so adorable walking by with the toy sticking out from underneath her slobbery jaws and was coming over to me all the time for pets! :)
Boy oh boy was Buddy ever excited when he got out into the yard today! I don't know if it was the excitement of it being their first day back or the fresh snow, but he was full of beans when he got outside and just wanted to play with Molly. He bounced around her trying to get her to play with him but she was more interested in getting familiar with the yard again before doing much else. Eventually the two of them broke into a full on wrestling match which ended with a cool down sniff of the yard to check for hidden treasures! They started their day with a nice walk around the fields and got to smell all the new smells since their last time here. With more snow coming, I think Buddy and Molly will be even happier to get outside in the yard tomorrow!
Lots of energy radiating from the little pups today! Maya was really happy when two bigger friends were out in the yard with them to chase and play arond with. Loki was sporting his new haircut and was really happy to get out and play in the snow with his friends. Benji couldn't figure out who he wanted to play with first so when he got outside he immediately started to sniff around and see who the best contender for a game of chase would be. Right out of the door, Maya wanted to chase around one of the new girls named Sasha which then attracted all the other pups including Benji and Loki into one big game of chase. Everyone then took some time to check out the new girls and follow them around for a bit, all the while trying to organize either a big game of chase or independent wrestling matches. At any chance Benji was happily scooping up fresh snow in his mouth as a tasty treat all the while giving himself a snowy beard :). Rocky spent most of his time guarding the gate by the door as he could hear some delivery men making a drop off and needed to make sure they stayed far off his turf! When I went over to visit with him he happily came over, got a nice pat on the back and then took himself for a little walk further into the yard. He didn't join in on any of the wrestling or chasing but was happy to watch his sister having fun from a safe distance :).
CATS
Missy: When I entered the kitty room, Missy was happily sun bathing on the cat tree. She then got up to see me and sat on the box of the cat tree to get a nice back scratch before returning to her nap. She got a nice brushing today in the morning and early afternoon which she really seemed to appreciate :).
Gizmo: Gizmo was enjoying a little cat nap of his own this afternoon when I came in for a visit. Though it wasn't in his usual napping spot! He has invited himself up to Missy's kennel and was having a nice little kitty nap on her post. So rather than disturbing him, I simply switched their stuff around and let him continue on with his napping.
Fawkes and Ekkai: These two were snuggling the afternoon away with each other in one of their nooks. I decided to put my hand in and give Ekkai a nice chin scratch which he greatly appreciated :). Fawkes was happy to be snuggling with his brother which was keeping him nice and warm.
