Allie had a very busy morning in the cattery today! She was full of meows and purrs as she woke up and stretched out on the cat tree. Allie hung around as I cleaned her suite, waiting for her breakfast. When the time finally came for her food, Allie gobbled it up quickly and I left her to relax for a little while. I came back to visit later in the day and Allie was sitting perched on the cat tree, staring intently out the window. She was watching Susan in the parking lot, who was unloading some things from her van. Every time Susan walked by, Allie would start to meow and knead at her blanket. I went outside to help Susan and Allie continued to mouth her meows from the other side of the window. She pawed at the glass and I assured her it was much more comfy and warm inside than out!

Bella and Jake had a great first day of this snow season with us. The pair was thrilled to be introduced to our back trail. The trail is back in our forest, weaving in and out of lovely trees and bushes where we are protected from the wind. Bella and Jake had a hard time walking straight, as there was so much to explore left and right. They kept Nicki very busy, as they continuously wrapped themselves around branches as they wandered along. The pair is impressively brave when it comes to the snow, choosing to plow through the deep snow rather than walk on the packed down path. In the yard both Bella and Jake were very focused on exploring. Neither of them showed much interest in playing, as there were many new scents to explore. Bella loved digging in the snow to find good smells, while Jake preferred to motor around with his nose to the ground picking up on everything. I was able to get the pair running around with me for a brief moment before they both broke off to get back to exploring. They were very happy when they returned to their kennel and saw that we had given them one of our cloud beds. This bed is much like their big bed from home. They were quick to get cozied up on it and take a nap before their next outing.

I was so excited to come in this morning, walk down the hall, and see George and Titans happy faces smiling up at me. I love when these boys stay with us. They were so excited to receive two of our new big plush beds. It took the pair no time at all to settle in on their own bed. Not much later, I spotted them curled up on the same one, sharing rather than enjoying their individual ones. In the yard, George and Titan were much too focused on exploring to pay attention to me. There must be so many new smells for the boys to pick up on since they were last here. They loved having access to both the main yard and the agility yard, giving them a lot more area to cover. Titan is a very brave boy, plowing through the deep snow to pick up on as many smells as possible. George is a little bit more cautious with his explorations but he is still quick on his feet, motoring around the yard following wherever his nose takes him. Finally towards the end of their outdoor time, both George and Titan took a break from exploring to accept some cuddles from me. I think I appreciated the cuddles more than they did as they kept me nice and warm before it was time to head into the heated building. It was absolutely lovely to spend some extra time with George and Titan this morning! The boys were eager to follow me up to the reception area to do some exploring. George did a lap of the room and went into the office to see what he could find. He sniffed Julie's bed very thoroughly, and then said hello to Julie herself. I called him back out into the main area where Titan was sniffing. George laid eyes on the toy bin and bee-lined straight for it and buried his nose in the toys. He pulled out a few different options before choosing the stuffless fox toy, which he carried around for everyone to see. I took out a couple of treats for the two handsome boys before they settled down to relax with me for a little while.

Teddie and Kizmet couldn’t have been happier to enjoy their outdoor time in a different yard today. The pair loves checking out new yards, as there is always so much new ground to cover in exploration. They spent the first portion of their time outside with their noses to the ground, carefully investigating their surroundings. It wasn’t until the end of playtime that both Teddie and Kiz got a little silly. Teddie was very polite when asking Kiz to play with him, by gently pawing at his side. Of course the gentle pawing didn’t last long, as he was soon on top of him plowing him to the ground. The pair then happily got going on some fun wrestling. They were having a great time mouthing at one another when group mate Gunnar joined in. These three had a lot of fun romping around, until Kiz stood up and bolted off. Gunnar was happy to bolt after him, leaving Teddie in the dust. Teddie was more than happy to accept pets and cuddles from me while his brother goofed around with his new friend. Kiz only played for a brief period of time before making his way back to my side where he showed off his snow rolling skills. He is such a goof when he rolls about, flailing his arms all around as he wiggles his back into the snow. Teddie didn’t partake in any rolling today as he was enjoying his back massage from me very much. Right before heading in, Kiz snatched a rope toy from me and did a lap of the yard showing it off. Teddie couldn’t have cared less about the toy, and made his way into his kennel and on his bed where he got very comfy waiting for the arrival of his goofy brother.

I still can’t get over how cute Charlie is. He looks like a life sized teddy bear. I found myself sitting on his bed in his kennel snuggling him after our walk today, realizing I should probably get back to work. We had a great walk out on the back trail this morning, accompanied by two other lovely dogs. Charlie is so well behaved, every time I would speak he would think I was talking to him and he would quickly retreat to my side. He loves wandering along the trail through the forest, and sniffing all the smells at the bottom of trees. I suspect rabbits and deer cross the path all the time, offering the dogs lots to sniff. Charlie was hilarious in the yard today with his new pal Finnigan. He was thrilled to see me bring out his favourite green alien toy today, which kept him very occupied much like the other day. Finnigan was also very interested in the stuffy, giving Charlie some friendly and fun competition. They bounded around together for a while as Charlie played keep away from Finn. Finn wasn’t going to let Charlie win and got a hold of one end. The pair tugged each other all around the yard, with their tails wagging a million miles an hour. They tugged, and tugged, and tugged for what must have been ten minutes, until finally, the toy ripped in two. It was hilarious watching their reactions as they both thought they one, but then noticing that the other still had a toy in their mouth. They instantly wanted what the other one had, and were quick to trade. This then carried on, continuously seeking the piece of the toy that the other had and alternating back and forth. Soon enough, Kane the crazy Weimerainer puppy swooped in and snatched up half of the toy. Charlie and Finn were quick to pick up the pace and motor after him. Both Charlie and Finn wanted the toy that Kane now had, and Kane wasn’t even aware that two fast friends were pursuing him. They looped around the yard for quite some time until finally the toy became buried in the snow. The boys all took a break to catch there breathe before meeting up with each other again for some good fun and games.

I love having Gunnar around he never stops smiling! Every time I pass by his kennel he is wagging his tail giving me a big grin. When it’s time for his walk he comes wiggling out of his kennel, looking forward to be clipped to a leash and head out onto the trail. Of course, in the yard his tongue is always out and he is constantly flashing his pearly whites for all to see. I don’t know if there are many dogs that come off happier than Mr. Gunnar. Today Gunnar was thrilled to have access to the “small dog yard”. I don’t know if he has been in this yard yet, but he seemed to really enjoy all the new territory to sniff and explore. He had his nose to the ground for a large portion of his outdoor time, getting very familiar with all his surroundings. Every time I called his name he would pick his head up and sprint over to me for some pets and cuddles. Once Gunnar was feeling very settled in with his surroundings he gained the confidence to ask group mate, Kizmet, to play with him. Kiz is always happy to play along with anybody and Gunnar was no exception. The pair had loads of fun bouncing and pouncing back and forth. After some fun boxing and wrestling Gunnar picked up the pace and bolted across the yard looking for a chase. Kiz was hot on his heels, zooming after him in full pursuit. They pair continued to motor around until Kiz decided he was ready for a break. Gunnar wasn’t ready to stop so he eyed out Finn and Kane who were also running around and happily joined in on their race around the yard. Gunnar was smiling from ear to ear the entire time with his ears pinned back and tail wagging around. He had such a fabulous time with these energetic young boys. By the time his morning outdoor time was over he was ready to head back to his warm kennel and take a snooze where he could re-charge his batteries in time for his next outing.

Delilah and I are really getting to know one another very well. She loves when I head into her kennel with her since it either means outdoor time, or a walk. This morning it meant eardrops, but she was just as fond of my company then too. As I enter, she stays on her bed but her ears pin back and her tail wags very fast. I am always sure to give her some belly rubs as she politely requests them by rolling onto her back. We had a great stroll around the backfield this morning with her friend Lucy. The pair isn’t too keen on long walks in the cold weather, so I let them lead me around the field until they were ready to head back indoors. It had warmed up by the time her group time rolled around which was great for her. She loved having access to both the agility yard and the main yard today, giving her a lot more area to sniff and explore. She kept pretty busy with this as her nose lead her all over the yard. When I called her name she was always happy to wiggle over to me and accept some pats and cuddles to warm her up.

Some of our favourite daycare ladies Oakley, Bella and Sophie joined resident Husky pals Kyah and Justice out in the yard this morning. Bella just adores Justice and Justice loves her just as much back! Bella’s ears and tail perked right up when she saw Justice leap out of his kennel and into the agility yard and she immediately ran after him and jumped up on his back to entice him to play. Justice loved the immediate attention from this sweet lady and started zooming around the yard in an effort to get everyone to chase him. Bella and Kyah tried to catch up to him but he is much too quick for them; in and out of the agility tunnel he would go and poke his head out to see if the coast was clear. Bella loved this game and would paw at his head when it poked through one end of the tunnel then dart after him again when he took off! Sophie was very intrigued by all of the chase action surrounding her and decided to join the pack and chase after Justice all the way into the snow bank at the far end of the yard. Sophie was easily distracted however by the shiny orange ball I offered her since I know how much she loves a good game of fetch. Her jaw immediately opened and her big wet tongue slid out the side when I presented her with the ball. Off she went chasing after it once I threw it but little did she know that she would have some competition from Kyah who was just as much intrigued by the ball as she was. If Kyah got to the ball before she did, she patiently waited until Kyah was distracted again before she swooped back in and stole it; she then pranced around the yard in pride as she held the ball in her mouth as if she had the best treasure ever. Oakley, my sweet girl kept me company most of the morning and was the best feet warmer as she took her usual spot at my feet. We all know how much Oakley is a sucker for attention and never strays too far from a good head rub. Except today, she was a little more enthusiastic to play since her best Husky friend Kyah was out in the yard and she just can’t resist a good cuddle session with her. They were often seen nuzzling noses and Oakley even participated in a few rounds of chase as she tried to keep up with Kyah. Towards the end of group, Leah joined us out in the yard and Oakley’s face lit up and darted towards her, so much for loyalty! Her and Bella gave Leah some sloppy kisses and hugs in excitement that there was another human out in the yard who was handing out free head rubs, imagine that!

We are always thrilled when Nymeria comes to visit us, who could resist this fluffy and gentle mannered redhead! Nymeria started her morning off on the right paw and joined me for an individual trail walk in the back forest. She loved sniffing out that trail and was excited by all of the new smells and sounds coming her way. But the real excitement happed out in the yard during her first outing with some of her favourite friends. To no surprise she immediately locked paws with little redhead herself Vega and her Aunt Aurora. These three playful pups obviously have very similar mannerisms and together they rolled and played in the white fluffy snow. New Husky faces Maya and Korvo also greeted Nymeria and she had a good wrestle with Maya who was so eager to meet her and jumped up on her hind legs in enthusiasm. Nymeria had a busy morning and ended things off with a good wrestle with Charly the Golden who was trying to protect the orange ball. I don’t think Nymeria was even interested in the ball but loved that she could get a rise out of Charly and that meant a good old wrestling match in the snow. I wasn’t surprised to see Nymeria rolled on her back having a nice afternoon rest after all that play she had out there today!
