George and Titan were having a nap when I went to grab them for their extra attention. As soon as Titan saw me he was up and wagging his tail waiting impatiently for me to take him out. It took George an extra moment to realize I was there, but as soon as he did he was up and eager to go. We made our way up to the front playroom. The two of them went trotting around the room checking everything out. It didn't take long for George to make his way over to the toy bin and stick his inside. He gave the toys a once over before deciding there wasn't anything that he wanted. George headed off to tour the room some more. Titan ended up over by the couch and was giving it a very thorough once over. I left them to go and grab some treats. As soon as I got back the two of them went crazy. Titan was quick to sit and waiting patiently while George spun around in excitement. They each got a treat. I then decided to get some fun pictures and toss some treats for them to catch. After a few tosses I stuck some treats in a couple kong toys. George and Titan had a blast knocking the toys around and getting the treats out.
Max was so excited to make his way out of his kennel. He went charging up to the front playroom. Max went running around the room checking everything. He spent some time checking out the toy bin. Max then decided to head over to the chair to check it out. He tried to shove his face in between the cushions and took some big sniffs. I'm not sure what he was smelling back there, but it was apparently quite interesting. When he finished with the chair he made his way over to me for some pets and attention. It didn't take long before he was trying to climb into my lap and slather me with kisses. Once Max was sure I had had enough love he decide to make his way back to the chair. This time instead of just shoving his face in he hopped right up and got himself comfortable. Max was then quite happy to relax while getting lots of pets.
Cats
Daisy was curled up in the cubby of the cat tree when I headed in to visit with her. She perked up and meowed at me when she spotted me. I made my way over and Daisy stuck her head out for some pets. She was loving all the rubs and scratches. So much that when I took my hand away Daisy quickly climbed out of the cubby to start rubbing against my legs demanding more pets. I was more than happy to give them to her. Daisy then decided she'd like to look out the window and watch the world for a little while. She was especially happy to do this while I was giving her more pets and scratches.
Allie was curled up asleep in her cubby when I headed in to visit her. She woke up quickly enough when I opened her door. Allie took a moment to stretch and take stock of her surroundings. Eventually she hopped out of her cubby and went to check out the base of the cat tree. Allie sniffed around then settled down. I grabbed the cat toy which immediately caught her attention. Allie leaped up to the highest point of the cat treat and started to bat at the toy. She caught it a few times and plucked out a couple feathers. Soon we took the game to the different levels of the cat treat to make it extra challenging.
Groups
Jemma couldn’t have been happier to return to us for some
daycare fun. The weather didn’t damper her mood whatsoever. She was
thrilled to enjoy an extra group rotation rather than a walk, as this meant
lots more romping around with her buddies. Jemma was also thrilled to
participate in two different groups. This girl has so much positive energy, it
is always fun to add her into different groups to get the other dogs playing
and moving. She didn’t miss a beat when she head out with the first group which
had her usual pal Finnigan in it. The duo met up right away and instantly began
mouthing at one another. Both Finn and Jemma love to roll around with each
other while mouthing at each others limbs, necks, and ears. They enjoy taking
turns being the dominant player and thoroughly enjoy being the one being tackled on the bottom. They kept at these games for a while which soon included other
group mates like Vega the puppy. Vega wasn’t so gentle with her playing, but Jemma
was quick to tell her that she didn’t like the rough housing. Vega learned very
quickly and then began to play much more gentle with her friend. Jemma loved
playing around with both Finn and Vega, taking every opportunity to roll around
in the snow. Later on, she head out for a group which had some calmer, yet
happy outgoing dogs in it. Jemma quickly became the highlight of the group,
starting the party by pouncing around saying hello to everyone. She was
thrilled to be the life of the party and the center of attention. A handsome
boy named Gunnar couldn’t get enough of Jemma, and the pair spent the remainder
of their time boxing and wrestling. They made a great duo, offering each other
even competition. Jemma was so happy with all the playing she got to partake in
today, as well as all the love and attention she received from the staff.
Finnigan is such a spoiled boy when he is here. He has
trained us very well, and he knows just what to do to get what he wants and look adorable
while doing it. The little monster was lucky enough to participate in two group
outings today as he had friends in two separate groups. His first group was
with the playful big dogs, which he had a blast in of course. He met up with
Jemma the moment he got out the door and barely spent longer than a minute
apart from her. Finnigan was sure to spend a lot of time on his back while
playing around with Jemma. These two love rolling around while gnawing on one
another’s limbs, necks and ears. Finn loves the endless amounts of attention
Jemma dedicates to him, making it easy to be her best friend. Vega soon joined
in on the action but decided to be much more like a little shark. Finn gave
back what she delivered to him which was lots of playful bites. The pair are hilarious
leaping at one another with their mouths wide open. After loads of wrestling
with his buddies, Finn found a ball. This kept him quite busy for the remainder
of his outdoor time. He loved playing soccer with the orange ball and racing
around with the red ball. He got a couple of his mates running after him at one
point, but was sure to keep the toys to himself. When it was time to head
indoors Finn thought playing dead was the appropriate way to maximize his time
outdoors. He suckered me into giving him a nice belly rub while he looked so
cute smiling up at me. Later on, Finn got to head out with the small dogs to
keep his friends Resa and Tag entertained. Finn was quick to begin racing
around with Tag the schnauzer. These two are a great match.
Charlie has trained me too well throughout his stay with us.
This silly guy has me playing fetch with him for thirty minutes straight every
time he goes outdoors. Charlie has learned to literally throw the ball at me by
swinging his head sideways and letting go of the ball midway, sending it flying
at me. When it hits me, I’m suddenly reminded that the ball must be thrown for
him. It’s hard to decline his requests as he is absolutely sweet and adorable. He has
also gotten pretty good at kicking at me feet over and over again until I
picked it up. Charlie and I had buckets of fun playing never ending fetch with
two different balls today. He was happy to have some friendly competition
mid-way. Gunnar is always sure to give Charlie a run for his money by tagging
along for the race. He also got to spend some time racing around with Justice
for the big red ball. Of course, Charlie always ended up winning the matches. After
loads of fetch and games of soccer Charlie finally rain out of energy. He
plopped himself down on the ground with both balls and had a nice roll around
to cool off. He was happy to head indoors and curl up for a snooze to re-charge
his batteries before his next outing.
Gunnar met a new best friend today. Jemma is with us for
daycare today and happily joined Gunnar’s group. Miss Jemma is a young girl,
who is always happy and keen to join in on any games when invited. Her constant
buzz of positive energy reminds me a lot of Gunnar, making it no surprise that
they met up and became instant best buddies. Gunnar started off by sprinting in
circles around her while sniffing her. Once he finally settled down, Jemma
rolled on her back allowing him to pounce all over her. Gunnar loved this fun
wrestling game and was quick to begin rolling all around with her. IT wasn’t
long before Jemma leaped up and sprung on her back legs, which Gunnar quickly
matched. The pair then had a great boxing match, walking around on their hind
legs with their front paws wrapped around each other. They continued
alternating between wrestling and boxing and rolling around for quite some
time. Gunnar briefly got distracted by a ball and participated in some fetch
with Charlie. Jemma followed along as she didn’t want to leave her best buddies
side. Gunnar was quick on his feet, retrieving the ball without any problems.
He even offered to share with Jemma, which started a great chase. Gunnar kept
himself occupied with Jemma for his entire time outdoors. He couldn’t have been
happier to meet such a great girl. He will be happy when she is back in for
daycare and on Thursday.
Teddie and Kizmet were pleased to start their morning off
with an outdoor group that had two humans. They both loved having four hands to
pet and cuddle them. They took all the opportunities to rub against us and
politely as for loads of attention. When the second rotation came around, the
boys were ready to get playing. Kizmet was pleased to see a couple new faces in
his group and was eager to get to know them. He tried to get to know Jemma, but
she was much to occupied playing around with other group mates. He then decided
getting to know Kyah was the second-best option. It didn’t take Kizmet long at
all to realize Kyah is a fabulous dog. He quickly became very fascinated by her
and wouldn’t stop following her around and begging her to play. She decided to
give in, and the pair then became inseparable. Kizmet and Kyah were adorable
playing around with one another. They loved to slowly bat at each other and
mouth at one another’s necks. They also had a good time boxing and wrestling. When
Teddie heard his brother chatting away to Kyah, he came bolting across the yard
to check things out. Teddie was quick to get right in on the action. He loves
being involved in whatever Kizmet is up to. Teddie spent some time with Kyah
and Kizmet but then broke off to do his own thing. Kizmet kept busy with Kyah
for the remainder of his outdoor time until it was time to come indoors.
We were happy to see that Lola and Pearl
made it through the storm this morning and in for daycare! Tag was also excited
to see these two lovely ladies because it meant she would have company outside
on this rainy morning. Tag was ready to play but Lola and Pearl weren’t too
impressed with all of this wet snow gathering at their little paws. Pearl the
adventurous one of the bunch did manage to make her way to the far yard to make
her usual rounds. She did stop to watch the wrestling between Shelby and Tag
but it wasn’t long before she ran back to her sister Lola who was waiting
impatiently by the door. Lola was happy to see Pearl back by her side but they
had to manage the cold a little while longer while Tag ran her energy out with
little Shelby. These two made a great little pair as they jumped up and down
and wrested all morning long. I was able to break Tag’s attention momentarily
with the red ball but it wasn’t for long before she made her way back to
Shelby. Finally I told Lola that it was time to go back inside and her tiny
tail wagged in enthusiasm; the most excitement I had seen of her all morning.
In all the little ones ran and found their way to their warm cozy beds.
Issy made a new friend out in the yard
today and it was that of silly chocolate lab Marley. Marley was determined to
make Issy his friend whether she really liked it or not! Marley was so
intrigued by the beautiful Issy and followed her endlessly around the yard and
begged for her attention. Issy was in the midst of making her routine rounds
and was wondering why this funny boy kept interrupting her but I could tell she
loved the attention with her big fluffy tail perked right up and she never
strayed too far from him. If she thought he was getting a little bit too
rambunctious she would give him her signature husky growl and continued on her
way but that didn’t stop Marley from following close behind! Mocha the funny
lady was excited to get out the doors this morning and basically burst through
the doors and out between my feet. She made it as far into the agility tunnel
and sniffed away as she graciously greeted everyone surrounding her. She even
seemed to be amused as she watched the romance dwindle between Marley and her
sister Issy. Before I knew it, she had made her way back to her spot by the
door but today sweet Maya kept her company and the two nuzzled noses all
morning long. This daycare group wouldn’t be complete without Percy added to
the mix! Percy was all geared up to play a few round of fetch and luckily for
him he had little Charly the fetch fanatic to play with. Although Charly didn’t
want to share her balls and tried to guard them from Percy. This only got Percy
even more excited and loved the challenge of trying to steal one of the balls
from her. Every time he got one of the balls he would prance around with it in
his mouth with pride. I didn’t have to do much fetching after all, these two
kept each other busy with their own game of ball.
Two of the happiest boys around George and
Titan were thrilled when it was their turn to play out in the yard. They had
just gotten back from some extra attention time and were ready to mingle with
some of their friends. George went out for a few rounds around the yard since
he loves to explore, but luckily for him he came back inside early for some
rest and that meant he had both beds to himself to sprawl out and nap before
his brother came back in. Titan always has a little bit more energy than George
of course and much like his brother he loves to explore and sniff out the yard.
With his nose down to the ground he happily galloped along the yard as he
weaved in and out of the others. Titan never passes up the opportunity for some
cuddles and when his name is called he immediately stops what he is doing and
make his way over to my feet for some head rubs. He had front row seats to the
new romance that was brewing right in front of our eyes! Sophie and Max
couldn’t keep their paws off of one another as they wrestled and flirted all
morning long. This special friendship started to form yesterday and ever since
the two of them have become inseparable. Max is such a gentleman and just cant
resist a good play with the beautiful Golden girl Sophie; he would wiggle his
way over to her then jump up on to her back to entice her to play. Sophie would
then join him up on her hind legs and the two of them danced the morning away
in the wet snow. Max was ready for some rest so that he could have enough
energy to tango with Sophie again on his next outing!
