Dixie the sweet girl followed me up to the playroom for her extra attention time. All this girl wanted to do was cuddle! I took a seat on the chair and she jumped up on my lap for some love and head rubs. I then decided to see if I could entice her to play with some of the toys; she happily sniffed them out but wasn’t interested this morning. Instead she followed me around and took a seat between my legs and demanded more love. We heard Miko up front having his extra attention so I brought her up as well to spend her last little bit hanging out with Miko. She was excited to see him but even more excited to sit on my lap again for some cuddles and I didn’t mind the company from this precious girl!
Out in the yard, Dixie had her nose to the ground and explored that yard from top to bottom as she weaved in and out of her friends. She is a very curious girl and enjoyed relaxing out in that warm sun we had this morning surrounded by all of her friends. Dixie’s good pal Miko was also enjoying the sun as he went sniffing away. This small dog group was so relaxed this morning and didn’t have a care in the world as they all sauntered around. Miko always carries that clever grin on his face with his tail perked right up and is a very confident little boy. Miko does love to play so I think he was getting his exploring done this morning so he will be prepared to play for his next outing. Miko also likes to play tricks on us when it’s time to come in but not today! I quickly snatched him up before bringing the others in so he didn’t have time to run away. He thought this was pretty amusing and gave me a great big sloppy kiss as I carried him inside.
My two favourite Wheaten boys Duffy and Buddy also joined us outside; Buddy gave me the funniest smile when I approached his kennel door this morning and he carried it on him all morning long as he absolutely loves his time outside. He whips back and forth across that yard as if he is on a mission but always happily breaks up his route when I call him over. He stops in for a quick head rub but then he is off again exploring. Duffy my best bud also spent most of his morning with his nose to the ground; at one point I was running circles around the yard myself to see his I could get the bunch playing but all they did was look up as if I was a crazy person and went back to exploring! I don’t blame them, it was such a beautiful morning to relax and make their rounds. Finally, Duffy ran over to me with that silly smile of his and jumped up on his hind legs for attention; he was nice enough to keep my company the rest of that morning!
Buddy was so very excited to come with me for his extra attention time. Once I got to his kennel I saw him shoot up and immediately come to his kennel door with his tail wagging. I got him on his leash just before he darted out of the hallway and had me racing down to the front with him. I decided to bring him up to the front reception area for his extra attention time today and he loved it. As soon as he got up here he greeted everyone he saw with a smile and kisses of course. Buddy jumped up onto one of the comfy chairs up front and decided that was his place to be. He was just so comfy that he didn't even want to get up and get a treat at first. For awhile I brushed and cuddled with him up there but finally he was ready to get up and have some treats. I had Buddy show me his sits, downs and a bit of paw. He did excellent! Buddy was very good at his sits and downs but he wasn't sure if he wanted to offer up a paw yet. However, as soon as he saw the treat he gave me a quick high five. After the treats Buddy and I snuggled for a little while again. He was completely ready for a morning nap once he got back into his kennel.
Finnigan was very happy to start his morning off with a walk with his pal Haley. Finnigan was very occupied from the moment he got out the back gat to the moment we came in with a stick. He found a great big stick right off the bat, and snatched it up. Finnigan carried this big branch along the entire walk, showing it off to Haley by circling around her. Haley was very impressed with his treasure, and showed this by dancing around Finn asking for him to share. To no ones surprise, Finn really didn’t want to share. He marched along with his head high in the air, refusing to offer Haley the other end of his branch. Finn tried to bring the branch all the ways back into his kennel, however I didn’t let him bring it indoors. The moment he got outside for groups he put his nose to the ground. I was surprised when he found the stick and began running around with it. This drew so much attention to him, especially from his other toy-loving friend Birdie and Vega. Finn was the centre of attention running around with his stick while the girls chased after him. Finally Vega got a hold of one end, snapping the stick in two leaving Finn with one half and Vega with the other. These two lay down side by side in the yard to gnaw on their treasure until it was time to head indoors.
Maggie had such an amazing day today! I was so happy to see Maggie so full of beans, playing around with her entire group. Sometimes Maggie is more reserved and quiet, but today was not one of those days. From the moment she got in the yard, she was bouncing around looking for action. Maggie hit it off with Justice very quickly, and this pair began flirting. Justice was very intrigued by miss Maggie and Maggie was very happy to have such a handsome boy all over her. They were so cute dancing around with one another, pawing at each other’s sides, and then racing around. Their games drew the attention of other group mates, turning their two-man chase into a big swarm. Maggie was happy to be in on the busy action involving Kyah, Charly, Justice and Shelby. This whole crew was soon zipping around the yard. Kyah darted away from the action to supervise from the top of the tunnel, which was very fascinating to Maggie. She tried her hardest to get up top with Kyah but did not succeed. Kyah hopped down from the tunnel to offer Maggie a playmate and Maggie was very excited about this. These two had so much fun boxing and wresting with one another, which soon turned into yet another chase. Maggie loved bolting after Kyah and weaving around all the obstacles. Shelby, a small dog, was right on Maggie’s heels trying to get her attention. It wasn’t long before Maggie turned around and showed Shelby some affection by licking her and bouncing around wit her. Maggie kept up with all the games until the end of groups when she decided she was happy to sit right by my feet asking for pets and cuddles.
