Sunday November 27th, 2016

Jax made his way outside with a determined air about him. He set off and soon had his nose close to the ground. When Eric, our volunteer, joined us in the yard Jax left off his exploring to go over to him and ask for some attention. I left him to his pets and headed out to the far yard. Jax noticed that I had found a toy and came bee-lining it my way. I started kicking the ball around and he was more than happy to go chasing after it. Whenever Jax caught it he would almost lay himself on top of it and roll around, it was pretty funny to watch. We played with the ball for a while, but soon Jax needed a break so he decided to go and see what Eric was up to now. He was over by the pool so Jax went over to check it out. When the pool didn't turn out to be as exciting as the ball Jax went running back. We did a couple more kicks when Julie and Resa's antics in the other yard caught his attention. Jax and I made our way out to the other yard where we watched the other two for a little while. Jax then found himself another ball. He then spent some time with this ball while watching the others.
When it was time for Jax's extra attention he was pretty gung ho about it. We headed up to the front room where Jax was more than happy to see the bin of toys. I pulled out the frisbee and he got so excited. I let him grab it and we had a bit of a tug-o-war game going on. Eventually he let go and I gave it a toss. Jax went charging after then proceeded to go bouncing around with it in his mouth. He finished playing with the frisbee and headed back to the toy bin. He spent some time checking everything out before settling on a bone. Jax settled down to have nice chew while getting lots of pets from me.

Charlie made his way outside, and almost immediately his attention was captured by something in the snow. Teddy made his way over to see what he was looking at. The two of them gave it a very thorough once over. Once that was done Charlie headed off to check out more of the yard. Along the way he came across a couple toys and gave them a once over. Deciding he didn't really want to play with them right at that moment Charlie left them behind while he made his way into the far yard. He went trotting around the yard checking out anything that caught his eye or nose. Charlie was interrupted from his explorations by Max, who wanted to say hi and see how he was going. Charlie then came over to have a quick visit with me. His attention was then caught by the ball that Finnegan had dropped. Charlie went running over and snatched it up. Finnegan soon noticed and went running over to try and steal his ball back. Charlie was enjoying it too much and wouldn't give it back.
Soon the two of them had a fun game of keep away going on. Charlie paused long enough for me to grab it and was more than happy to have a little game of tug-o-war happen. Finnegan was soon back and ready to steal the ball. It ended up turning into them having a game of tug. When it looked like no one was ever going to win, Charlie dropped his half and went trotting off to grab the bigger ball. He then went trotting back over to Finnegan before going off to play with the ball by himself. He wasn't alone long as Gunnar went over to join him. Gunnar didn't stick around overly long and soon Charlie had the ball to himself once more.

Gunnar was quick to go trotting out into the yard and put his nose to the ground. He set off determined to find something interesting in the snow. It wasn't long before Gunnar was distracted from his exploring by Max and Finnigan who were having fun wrestling. He made his way over to them to see what was going on. Gunnar bounced around with them for a bit. When Finnigan headed out, Gunnar decided to go back and do some more exploring. He made his way all around the yard and eventually ended up over by the pool. Gunnar sampled some of the snow collected there before trotting off to see what Max and Teddy were up to. It didn't take long for the three of them to be having a great time playing together. Gunnar then spotted Charlie and Finnigan playing with a ball in another part of the yard and decided to head over to check it out. When they didn't end up being more fun Gunnar made his way back to Max and Teddy. A little while later Charlie went and found a ball and brought it to me to throw. Gunnar quickly left Max and Teddy to go and join Charlie and play with the ball. Feeling frisky Gunnar then came racing over to me and started to bounce around and be a big goof. Still feeling frisky Gunnar went racing off with Finnigan and Oakley.

Max was quick to make his way further into the yard. He started to sniff around and check things out. Max was the first to make his way into the far yard though he wasn't alone long. He got a little more exploring in when Finnigan went bouncing over to see about playing. Gunnar was close on his heels. Finnegan and Gunnar didn't stay too long and were soon going off to do some exploring. Max was about to head back out when he spotted Teddy. They had an instant connection and were soon having a great time wrestling. Oakley made her way over to see what they were up to and maybe join in. Max was so wrapped up in Teddy, he barely noticed they had been joined by another dog. Oakley left them to their fun and Max and Teddy happily continued on wrestling. Eventually they needed a bit of a breather so Max and Teddy headed out to do a little exploring. Along the way Max met up with Charlie and said a quick hello. Max then was quick to make his way back over to Teddy. They did a little more exploring, but soon they were back to having a blast wrestling. It didn't take long for them to be joined by Gunnar. This time they were a little more open to the idea of a third and soon they were all having a great time. Oakley ended up making her way back and joining in on the fun.

Finnigan was so excited to make his way outside for group time. He went charging out the door and into the yard. Finnigan made his way right over to Max to see if he wanted to play. They bounced around for a bit, when Finnigan became distracted by a ball. He went racing over to it and quickly snatched it up. Finnigan then took off running once more, ball in mouth. He came to a halt when he noticed Charlie looking at something. Curious, Finnigan made his way over to check it out as well. When he'd seen all he wanted to, Finnigan took off racing with the ball once more. He had some fun tossing it around for himself and batting it around in the snow. Finnigan ended up leaving the ball when something super interesting in the snow caught his attention. While he was focused on that his ball was stolen by Charlie. Once he realized that his ball was gone, Finn went racing over to see about getting it back. It soon turned into a big game of keep away. After Charlie and I had a little game of tug Finnegan was able to grab onto half of the ball. The two of them then had  great little game of tug going on. It didn't look like anyone was going to win so Charlie let go. Finnegan went racing off shaking the ball in victory. Charlie was soon back with a bigger ball. They stood staring at each other. Finnegan spent a little more time playing his ball. He then found himself being asked to play by Oakley and Gunnar. It didn't take long for the three of them to go racing off around the yard together.

Teddie and Kizmet are having such a blast here while their parents are away. They started their day off with a lovely walk through the back bush trail. On their walk, Teddie and Kiz enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the bush while they walked along. Both Teddie and Kiz made sure to take some time to roll around in the snow, and take a few nibbles of it as well. On their way back to the building the boys watch a squirrel chase around and run up a tree, which they really enjoyed. When they got back to their kennel, Teddie and Kiz both curled up on their beds and had a little snooze. When it was time to go out for their group this afternoon, Teddie and Kizmet were so excited as they raced down the halls and out the door. When they got to the agility yard, Teddy and Kiz went their separate ways to sniff around the rocks. Not long after they got outside, Kiz met up with his friend Gryphon and the pair went racing around the yard, as happy as could be. When Kiz decided to slow down a bit he flopped down and had lots of fun rolling around the yard, while Teddie barked at him to tell him it was time to play. Before it was time to go back inside, Teddie ventured around the yard while Kiz and I cuddled and he gave me a few kisses, the boys certainly enjoyed their day.

George and Titan are such a perfect pair. For their extra attention this morning, we spent some time in the front playroom. When we got to the front playroom, they boys decided that we should lie around a cuddle for their extra attention, so we did just that. At first, George spent some time sniffing around the playroom, jumping on the couch, then jumping back down, but it was when he made his way over to the window that he got really excited. Outside the window, George watch a flock of birds playing around in the yard, dancing and signing in the fresh powder snow that was just starting to fall, but eventually George started barking at them and they flew away. After moving on from the window, George, Titan and I sat cuddled up on the couch for a few minutes before it was time to go back to their kennel. When it was time to go out for their group, George and Titan made their way out the door as fast as possible, excited to get outside for some play time. When the boys got outside, they both spent most of their time sniffing around and digging in the snow, however Titan ran through the agility tunnel a few times before we went back inside. I think it safe to say that the boys are really enjoying their stay with us.

Cats
It was a girls club in the cat room today. Both Daisy and Allie are quite dignified ladies and they watched Strider with some amazement as he raided their food bowls...until I stopped him of course. What a nerve! Once Strider had been asked to leave their bowls alone, the ladies accepted my pets gracefully. Wanting to bring out their inner kitten, I tempted them with some toys, but nothing caught their attention like the feathery bird on a stick. Neither Daisy nor Allie could resist the toy and both turned into jungle cats after a few shakes and shimmies with the toy. After Daisy's turn, she sat on Kelsey's lap and had a nice brushing and then went to hang out on the window sill. A little later, after dinner, Allie was full of beans, leaping and climbing all over the cat tree. She stood way at the top and arched her back for me to pet but was happy to stay on the highest level.
