Buddy started his outdoor time off with his nose to the ground. He was very occupied with all the smells along the perimeter of the yard, was determined to get his sniffing work done. After he did some thorough investigating I was happy to see him come running towards me with a big smile on his face. Buddy began to rub his face against my legs, asking for pets and cuddles. He has such a wonderful smile, it’s impossible to say no to his request for attention. After some good cuddles, I was happy to see Buddy make his way towards some of the playing going on. He spent a bit of time watching the action, getting a better idea of what sort of games his mates were up to. Finally, he decided to approach Maya, and say hello. Maya was more than happy to be greeted by Buddy and did some sniffing of him too. The pair walked in circles around one another getting to know one another until Maya pounced backwards and play bowed to Buddy. He was very surprised to receive an invite to play, but didn’t disappoint and happily accepted. Buddy and Maya ended up having so much fun dancing around with one another. It was so cute to see Buddy pick up the pace and run around with her. They did a couple laps of the yard before meeting back in the center for some more playing and dancing with one another. Buddy loved all the attention Maya was giving him. He decided to spend the remainder of his time outdoors with her, sniffing and exploring by her side as well as greeting some of the other dogs in his group.

Dixie is such a sweet girl. I had a great time with her in the yard this morning, happily cuddling and patting her. She loves to nuzzle her fluffy face into my lap, and paw at my legs requesting more attention when I stop. She kept me great company for the first portion of outdoor time, until the lovely Duffy came trotting over. Duffy is sweet as can be; also always keen to receive pats and cuddles. This pair was happy to each have one of my hands on them, petting them and giving them scratches. Once I stopped, Duffy took an interest in Dixie. He was pretty cute sniffing her over with his little tail wagging back and forth very fast. Dixie didn’t mind the attention he was offering her whatsoever, and even gave his face a little kiss. Duffy then began kissing Dixie’s ears, and dancing all around her. Dixie was very accepting of his attention and request to play, but didn’t really want to play. Duffy didn’t mind at all and decided to keep her company as she explored the yard. The pair stuck close by one another as they wandered around the yard with their noses to the ground, investigating their surroundings. Every once in a while, the duo would make their way back to my side looking for some more attention, and would then wander back into the yard after they got some loving.

Maya was so full of spunk today! She had such a fun filled day with some new and old friends. I was so surprised to see her take the initiative of wandering into the grassy yard where her friends were dancing around. She tends to hang out in the gravel yard with Rocky unless something seems really interesting to her. Today, Resa was just that, interesting. Maya couldn’t refuse this sassy little girl’s energy and request to dash and dart around. The pair became quick friends, play bowing to one another and then zipping and zooming around the yard one after the other. Resa led the way for the most part, with Maya staying right on her tail. Maya does a great job of keeping up with Resa’s sporadic running and bolting. After lots of laps around the yard Maya took a break to check up on her brother. Rocky was happily wandering around the gravel yard sniffing and exploring all the smells. He was excited to see Maya and did a little bit of a jog towards her as she approached him – so cute! After they sniffed one another over, Rocky made his way to his favourite spot by the door and lay down next to Julie. Rocky is great for keeping Julie company, especially on the cooler days when she doesn’t want to do much exploring. Maya then parted ways with her brother to head back into the yard and check up on her playmates. This time around, Buddy showed some interest in her. Buddy is such a nice boy, who is usually more reserved. I was so pleased to see Maya invite him to play with her. These two made for such a lovely duo, dancing and prancing around the yard with the biggest smiles on their faces. Both Maya and Buddy’s ears were flapping around as they ran and both of them had the biggest grins on their faces. Resa, making their two-dog game a trio, once again accompanied Maya and Buddy. They had so much fun playing around together and were more than happy to head indoors after all their games to rest up.

Caesar had the best day yet today. He was absolutely thrilled to be re-united with an old pal of his, Kyah. These two loved each other when he stayed with us a couple years ago and it was as if they hadn’t gone a day without seeing one another. The minute she got into the yard and he spotted her, it was game on. Caesar loved boxing around with this silly Siberian husky. All their games quickly drew the attention of other group mates, leading to Vega and Aurora joining in on the game too. Caesar was thrilled to have three pretty girls dancing and playing with him. He puts up a great battle when it comes to boxing and also is quite the component in wrestling but he is no match for these fast girls when it comes to racing. He loved running as fast as he could after Kyah, trying his hardest to catch up to her. Kyah led him through the tunnel over and over again, trying to ditch him and win. Caesar wasn’t going to let Kyah win the match and continued to motor straight-ahead keeping a close eye on her heels. Finally, he got her when they were in the tunnel, and the wrestling started up again. After lots of rumbling around, Kyah and Caesar made their way out of the tunnel. Kyah took this opportunity to join Aurora on top of the tunnel, teasing Caesar. Caesar tried his hardest to get these two girls down so the games would continue. They were happy to give in to his request, jumping right on to him as they dismounted the tunnel. Caesar continued to spend his outdoor time playing around with these lovely girls as well as some of his other regular group mates. He was so happy throughout his whole play session today, constantly smiling and wagging his tail.

Max and Sadie got playing the second I let them into the yard today. The moment they got out the door Max instantly pounced on Sadie requesting for her to play with him. She happily wiggled out of his grasp and darted away looking for a chase. The pair began to do laps around the yard at very high speeds, trying their hardest to keep up to whomever was in the lead. Sadie started off in the lead and after a couple laps got tired, putting Max in the lead. After a handful of laps and their tongues hanging out the sides of their mouths, they decided to slow down and wrestle around. They alternated taking turns pouncing on top of the other, while the other was rolling around on the ground. Max was so funny when he was on the ground, flailing his limbs around and shaking his head back and forth. He finally leapt up and bolted away, asking Sadie to chase after him again. These two kept up these shenanigans for practically the entire duration of their outdoor time. The only thing that stopped them from playing was spotting me sitting on the picnic table. Both Max and Sadie insisted on coming over and smothering me with their kisses. Sadie especially loves to climb onto the table and pounce all over me, offering me all the love in the world. Max prefers to nudge into me asking for pats and cuddles, giving me the occasional kiss. This famous duo was very happy to head back indoors and cuddle up on their comfy bed until their next outing.

Francis and Nu-nu greeted me with one of their notorious howls as they stretched their long legs as I approached their kennel bright and early this morning. I think I woke them up from a good night’s  rest but they were excited to get outside and see their favourite pal Justice. Justice was just as happy to see them and the three of them made their morning rounds of the yard. Francis of course made sure not to stray too far as she bowed down in front of me with that quirky smile of hers. Every time I would reach into my pocket she thought she was getting a treat so her bum would immediately hit the ground in anticipation. Nu-nu takes some coaxing to want to come over and see me but when she does she leaps and bounds over for some cuddles. The fun continued out in the yard this morning for these two and they played and sung all morning long. These two girls really make me giggle with their silly antics and boy are they vocal. Francis encouraged Justice to play and the girls chased him as he zoomed across the yard in excitement. He loved the attention from these two beautiful ladies and they have really formed a strong bond over these past couple of weeks, making their stay with us just that much more enjoyable!

Some of our favourite daycare pals joined each other out in the yard this afternoon for some fun in the sun. Sweet daycare ladies Mocha and Issy always send out a sweet and gentle vibe that all of the other dogs enjoy. We all know Issy went straight into the far yard to make her rounds of the agility yard, in fact its hard to find her without her little nose to the ground sniffing away. Mocha followed close behind me like the brave girl she has been lately. She was delighted to see sweet Maya again as Maya gave her a few kisses on the nose. Mocha took her usual seat between my legs as we watched the rest run around and play. Kimi enjoyed most of her time with brother- sister duo Maya and Korvo who are fellow Huskies. At one point I looked over and Maya was rolling around on her back as Kimi watched from above wondering what she was doing; I think Maya liked her! The three of them enjoyed the fresh air together and took a seat as a pack in the middle of the yard as they watched the others such as Percy who was running circles around them! You can always count on the forever-silly Percy to get the energy flowing because he is just full of it. Today he didn’t have a specific play buddy but that didn’t stop him. At one point he was running back and forth through his favourite agility tunnel to see if he could get the attention of anyone else. Kimi and the others watched with pure enjoyment. I played endlessly with Percy to help run some of his energy out and he especially enjoyed our game of fetch with the Frisbee. Tsavo was the last one to round out this fun group. She wandered around the yard with that big floppy tongue of hers hanging out greeting the others. Everyone was very interested in her and she graciously let everyone come up and say hello. She was very interested in Korvo because she could sense that he had a lot of playful energy but decided that today wasn’t the day to wrestle. She preferred to hang out with some of the quieter ones such as Mocha who was sunbathing by the door. Nonetheless she enjoyed her time outdoors today and saw a lot of new and old faces and some extra love from me today.

Teddy was thrilled to see little Charly outside today; he sensed her playful energy and knew she was going to be a match for him. As Charly started collecting her toys, Teddy ran over and gave her a few nudges to entice her to play. She happily accepted and the two of them jumped up on their hind legs and started to dance - it was hilarious! When Charly finally broke free, off she went chasing after the Frisbee but Teddy wasn’t far behind. He was in herding mode and chased after her as she chased after the toys. While these two silly pups were wrestling and chasing one another, Cai was off exploring the yard meeting Bentley along the way. They were very curious of one another and stopped to say hello. Both of their tails perked up in excitement and loved their exchange of nudges but Cai thought it wasn’t the time to play but rather keep on exploring. Cai is a very good listener and would come running over every time I called him over; he sat like a good boy and in exchange got some head rubs.
