Thursday November 17th, 2016

Allie started greeting me as soon as I walked into the room this morning. She wasn't quite ready to get up yet, but wanted to make sure that I went over and said hello before I started cleaning. When I had to kick her out of her cubby to clean Allie decided it was time to explore. She was pleased to discover that the cupboard was open and promptly hopped inside and set about exploring. Allie started on the second shelf and after she'd checked it over thoroughly she moved on to the top shelf. I left her to her antics and went back to cleaning. When I looked for Allie next I found her curled up on the shelf of another cubby. I picked her up for a bit up a cuddle then set her down to eat her food. A little while later I found Allie curled up in the hammock of the cat treat. She was chirped at me and was happy to get some pets and attention.

Timbits and Coco never fail to have a stellar day with us. This duo was so excited to meet so many new dogs, as they aren’t usually here for Thursday daycare. Timbits was more than ready to get out of his kennel, down the hall, and out the door into the yard. He practically flew into the yard, reminding me a lot of Dumbo flying with his big ears. Coco was hot on his feet, trying her hardest to keep up to her little brother, baying at him as she ran behind him. The pair quickly made their way into the grass yard and got right to the sniffing and exploring. They seemed to me motoring around as fast as possible almost as though they were trying to get it out of the way. Happy to finish their sniffing, they met up with some outgoing pups to run around. Timmy and Coco were thrilled to join in on a never ending, fast race around the yard with Resa, Shelby, Maya and Miko. This set of dogs was so fast on their feet, giving me a challenge of getting good photos. They continued these laps for about ten minutes. I wasn’t sure how they weren’t tired, or dizzy! Finally, Resa stopped running which lead to everyone slowing down and taking a break. Coco and Timbits were happy to chill out and catch their breath. Coco proceeded to find a good bone to chew while Timbits too the opportunity to cuddle me while I was sitting on a boulder.

Miko couldn’t be happier to be spending the whole week with us. He loves his extra attention time just as much as he loves his group time and his walks. He is always happy to be accompanied by humans or friends, no matter what the activity is. Today Miko was keen to get outdoors and begin checking out all of his friends. It didn’t take him long to meet up with Timbits, a young beagle. Timbits comes in for daycare and boarding quite often, but doesn’t usually overlap with Miko. The pair instantly began sniffing one another over, head to toe, trying to get a firm grasp on the other. Finally, Miko took a big step back, play bowed, and then darted off. Timmy was very fast to catch up to him and begin play nipping at his bum to get him to run faster. Right away, Resa, Shelby, Maya and Coco spotted the action and zoomed over to get in on it. Miko was thrilled to have a heard of dogs racing around the yard with him. He had the biggest smile on his face while his ears flapped in the wind, motoring as fast as possible to stay involved in the chase. After a couple laps Miko broke off to check out what his other pals were up to. He was happy to meet up with Dixie and dance around with her for a bit. He then stuck his nose to the ground and finished off his outdoor time sniffing and exploring along side some of his quieter group mates. Miko saw me coming and stood wagging his tail waiting to see if I would take him out. He was in luck and I let him out of his kennel. Miko started bouncing around my legs, so excited to do something. He ran ahead to the front room and stood bouncing at the door waiting for me to open it. As soon as I opened the door Miko went charging into the room and set out to investigate what was going on. He said hi to Resa, Julie, and Merlin then turned his sights to the other people in the room. I got some treats out which he was pretty excited about. We did some sits and then settled down for some pets. Miko was pretty happy to sit at my feet and get all the love he could. He then decided to go under my chair and hang out there for a bit. Eventually Miko wanted more love and to be closer so he hopped up onto the chair with me. If I stopped petting him he would nudge me to start again. Miko then hopped off to take another tour of the room. Not finding anything overly exciting he came running back to join me on the chair.

Loki had a great day with us. It is nice to have regular guests stop in for daycare every once in a while. He was pleased with his time with us, even though it was rather short. Loki kept himself pretty busy with his nose today. His nose led him all around the yard, keeping him fully occupied for his entire time outdoors. He started by exploring the whole perimeter of the yard and then making his way into the centre of the yard where he met up with some other dogs. Duffy the wheaten terrier was very fascinated by him, following him around as he explored. Loki didn’t feel like playing around so he continued on adventuring. He then came across Dixie who was very smitten towards him. He gave in to her tail wagging, play bowing and dancing around for a very short period. He was quick to make his way back to the edge of the yard to continue sniffing and exploring.

Dixie is so lovely. She really enjoys spending her outdoor time exploring the yard. She was busy with her nose to the ground when she ran into Loki. Loki is a lovely schnauzer mix who is super pleasant. He was happy to have Dixie flirt with him. She danced around him with her tail wagging and her ears wiggling back and forth. The pair played around for a brief amount of time before Loki went back to sniffing, leaving Dixie on her own to do some more exploring. She then came across Miko who was also happy to play around with her. I was surprised to see Dixie dancing around on her hind legs, boxing with Miko. The pair had a firm grasp around one another as they danced around on their hind legs. I had a good time watching Dixie have so much fun. After her playing around she was so excited to run towards me, as I was sitting on a rock. She tried her hardest to leap onto my lap, she was not too successful so I picked her up and gave her a good cuddle. Dixie was as excited as ever to come out of her kennel this afternoon for her extra attention. We spent some time together at the desk. She gave me lots of kisses before settling down and having a quick cat nap. This didn’t last too long and soon Dixie wanted to get down and explore. I figured we would go outside and see what we could find in the grass. We headed out front with a few treats and explored through the grass. Dixie sure does love her treats and sat nicely for me to take her picture in front of the Christmas decorations. Although every time I asked her to sit she would pop back up and try to get closer to me, wanting the treat so badly. I gave her the rest of what I had and she spent some time sniffing around before heading back inside. Dixie enjoyed spending some time with her friends Resa, Julie and Shelby, she watched them play, wrestle and tug before heading back to her kennel to have another snooze.

Duffy and I had a great walk this morning with two daycare friends, Issy and Mocha. Duffy was very happy to accompany two lovely ladies along the trail. He was rather smitten with the both of them, continuously stopping to sniff them and kiss their ears. They were both happy to have some love and attention from such a handsome boy, allowing him to flirt his way through the walk. By the time his walk was over, he was disappointed to head back into his kennel and part ways with the pretty ladies. He was very happy when I offered him a cookie, which settled him onto his bed for a rest. In the yard today, a new daycare guest, Loki, intrigued Duffy. Loki captured Duffy’s attention right off the bat, and kept him very occupied for his whole time outdoors. Duffy spent his time in the yard following Loki around, trying to get him to play around with him. He wasn’t too bothered when Loki didn’t want to play; rather he was happy to simply have a mate to adventure around the yard with. Right before it was time to head back indoors, Kinsey came out into the yard to chat and Duffy was thrilled to have another human outside. He made his way over to her and leapt up on her, looking for some pets and cuddles. He was happy to receive a nice pat before it was time to head back indoors.

Maya and Rocky were so happy to have the largest kennel all to themselves today. Despite having two beds, and a nice big blanket, Maya insisted on crawling onto the same cot as Rocky and nuzzling right into him. Rocky wasn’t too impressed by his big little sister smothering him with love. I caught him changing beds a coupe times throughout the day, but he never could escape her. He finally settled down on the biggest cot, reluctantly accepting her cuddles. Maya was so full of beans today. She was so excited to get out into the yard and begin checking out all of her group mates. She took some time saying hello to everyone, slowly picking who would be the best pal to play with. It didn’t surprise me at all when she focused in on Resa, another Kosovo rescue that we have with us. The pair quickly hit it off, leading to a play bow and of course a nice zoom around the yard. Yet another Kosovo rescue, Shelby, as well as three daycare friends Coco, Timbits and Miko soon accompanied Maya. This group of dogs sped around the yard like they had lightening under their paws. They were so fast bolting in circles around all there other group mates as well as myself. Maya did a great job keeping up to the speedsters, stopping to catch her breath once in a while. At the end of all the games she was happy to make her way into the gravel yard where she met up with Rocky and relaxed by his side until it was time to head back indoors.

Maggie is having such a blast this stay! She couldn’t be more energetic. I think this cool fall weather has really brought out the frisky side of her, as it does for many dogs. She started her outdoor time off by following me around. This nosey girl could smell the delicious liver treats that I had in my pocket. I couldn’t stand still without her big happy face staring up at me. She even pawed at me, politely asking for one. How could I say no to such a cute lady?! She was thrilled when I snuck her a cookie, avoiding her whole group seeing. After she got a special goodie, Maggie made her way into the yard to check out her group mates. I was pleased to see her meet up with Arly, a lovely GSP. Arly is so outgoing, always happy to play with anyone. Maggie instantly began dancing around him, asking for a wrestling buddy. Arly was more than happy to give in to her request, play bowing back and then leaping right on her. The pair began flinging their paws left and right while bouncing in circles. I couldn’t help but laugh at Maggie’s hair flopping left and right as she swung her head around. Maggie kept herself very busy with the lovely Arly for quite some time. Soon enough, other group mates got involved in their games too. Maggie was keen to partake in a big group play for a short period of time. She then broke off and came back to my side to catch her breathe. She spent the rest of her outdoor time alternating between sniffing the yard and begging for attention from me, which of course I was happy to give her.

Kizmet had so much fun today. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him as playful as he was today. Sometimes, it takes one special dog to get a dog to really come out of their shell. Arly, a lovely GSP, did just that today. This boys outgoing enthralled Kizmet, bouncy personality from the minute they met up. Kizmet also loved another GSP, Birdie. Kizmet spent his entire time outdoors begging Arly to leave his other friends to play with him. The moment Arly actually took Kiz up on this offer was like Christmas morning to Kiz. Arly turned around and play bowed to Kiz then did laps around him with excitement. Kizmet play bowed back, over and over, until finally Arly jumped right on Kizmet. This drew the attention of Teddie very fast, and soon enough Teddie and Kiz had Arly leaping and bounding all around them. Teddie only played around for a bit before breaking off from the games and asking for some attention from me. Meanwhile, Kizmet did not stop pouncing around like a puppy. He loved Arly so much; I had such a tough time getting a still photo of the pair. Every once in a while, Birdie or Teddy would swoop in to their games, and the pair happily accepted their company. But no matter what, they always seemed to break off on their own to continue their one on one shenanigans. I had so much fun watching Kizmet be so outgoing and happy. Teddie did a great job keeping me company today, standing by my side, gladly accepting head pats and body rubs. BY the time they got back to their kennels Kizmet was exhausted. HE was ready to crash on his big comfy bed, while Teddie lay down and began to gnaw on one of his bones.

Teddy started his day off with a walk with his two pals, Percy and Spencer. I always think this walk will be very busy, as they’re all playful outgoing dogs, and they always surprise me. Teddy is so great during walks, sticking right to the path motoring full speed ahead. He loves to be the leader of the pack. In the yard today Teddy was thrilled to be the captain of a big game between two GSP. Teddy spent his whole time outdoors corralling these two monkeys as they romped around over a ball. Teddy is such a great referee. Leading them to the parts of the yard where they can really play around. Teddy even got involved in the games today, rather than just herding. He had so much fun bouncing around with the outgoing Arly, as well as goofing around with a big lab Kizmet. Teddy was so busy from start to finish of his outdoor time, never stopping running and never putting his tongue back inside his mouth.

Kimi had the best day ever! I have not seen Kimi be this playful, ever I think. She was SO full of beans from start to finish of her outdoor time. Her group was absolutely perfect for her. It consisted of seven Siberian Huskies. The real life of the party was miss Vega, the puppy, who was committed to getting Kimi to play right from the get go. It’s pretty impossible to say no to a 6-month-old puppy leaping up at you, howling at you, and pawing at your side. After relentless begging from Vega, Kimi gave in and chased her around. This small chase led to a whole pack of huskies zipping around the yard. Kimi was right in on the action, keeping up very well to the youngsters. Kimi even darted through the tunnel and leapt over top of it, all in hopes of capturing the little devil Vega. Kimi stayed very involved throughout her whole time outdoors, whether it was trying to tame Vega, or goofing around with Sully one of our rescues. She was so happy from the minute she got outdoors, until 25 minutes later when I had to convince her to come inside by offering her a treat.

You wouldn’t expect anything less than an eventful time when out in the yard with dynamic duo Max and Sadie. They were very obedient this morning when I approached their kennel door for their first outing. Although they had their bums to the ground, I could see their bodies start to vibrate in anticipation as to when I would tell them it was ok to go. What probably seemed like a lifetime to them, I said OK and off they went zooming into the yard and Max let out an excited howl as he whisked by me. A few laps around the yard later and it was time to have their routine wrestle. Max is always the first one to entice Sadie to wrestle but not like she has much of a choice when her big brother is around. She enjoys it just as much as he does and loves the thrill of a good chase since she can almost always outrun the silly Max. When things are getting a lit bit too excitable for the two of them, they are very good to stop and take a sit command to take a breather together; but not for long until they are back at it again.

Today, four very playful and energetic Golden girls Charly, Merida, Honey and Molly joined Tsavo. Tsavo was very interested in this group of girls and much like me was entertained by their antics all morning long. Tsavo is getting quite confident and playful without her brother Cai in the pack and was very excited to meet new friends out in the yard. Although Tsavo is a big girl, she is very gentle and friendly when meeting new faces and wasn’t even bothered when the train of Golden’s came tumbling her way. I could see that she was very interested to play with the bunch but wasn’t quite ready to be on such an energetic level but her head would go back and forth as she followed them across the yard with her tail perked up in excitement. She also didn’t hesitate to give me some sloppy kisses when I knelt down beside her for some company.

It was a big and lively bunch of daycare guests for the last rotation of the morning. You always know it’s going to be a fun time when silly Jemma is around. That girl doesn’t have a mean bone in her body; she only has playful and silly bones in that wiggly body of hers. She spent most of her time today on her back with her big tongue hanging out the side as Cai and Dougie wrestled her from above, that’s her signature move! If she wasn’t rolling around in the grass, she was wrestling with the just as energetic Dougie who just couldn’t get enough of her this morning. These two share very similar playful personalities and could go on for days before getting tired out. It was hard to get a picture of Dougie’s face even because he was just to busy playing and making the most of his time out there, but every time you did catch a glimpse of him he had that big clever smile from ear to ear. These two were giving off such a good energy that even Cai couldn’t resist from joining in on the fun!

Dougie and Cai would join forces and both go after Jemma from either side and Jemma just loved all of the attention, especially from two handsome gentlemen! Speaking of gentlemen, we can’t forget about Percy who was just as much in the action as the rest but he was refereeing from the sidelines. As he started herding the bunch as their energy increased, he quickly got distracted when he found the Frisbee on the ground and ran over to me to throw it. As I lifted the Frisbee up from under his feet, his eyes started to glisten and tongue slid out his mouth in anticipation. Off he went chasing after it but quickly got bored when he crossed paths with Jemma and Dougie again. Spencer the big and fluffy guy was too busy exploring the yard with Issy to be distracted by all of the commotion surrounding him. Much like Issy, his nose was glued to the ground and together they sniffed that yard out from top to bottom. Cai however really wanted to get Spencer to play with him and every so often would give him a friendly nudge to entice him to play; Spencer happily acknowledged Cai but let it be known that he was too busy to play at the moment and continued on his journey. Although Issy is much more confident than her better half Mocha, today Mocha decided that she would join Issy and follow her into the far yard for some exploring. When Issy sped off to make her usual rounds, Mocha quickly joined me by my feet for some comfort and extra love before making her way back to her favourite spot by the door. Today, the others followed behind her and she quickly took her place before the others could and graciously let them give her a few sniffs and kisses on the nose as they passed by. When it was time to come back inside, they were pleased to see two new fluffy beds laid out for them. Mocha like the princess she is decided to sprawl out on both beds while Issy made herself comfortable on the floor below; what a silly pair those two are!
