It was a beautiful morning with all of that white fluffy snow and it wasn’t too cold, which made the perfect weather for all of our small dog friends. DJ and his sister Tinkerbell were ready to stretch those long legs of theirs and get to wrestling in the snow! DJ really brought the good energy to his group this morning and played with just about everyone out in that yard; who could resist! DJ found a good wrestling partner is little Resa, who is just about the same size as him but most importantly just as spunky and playful. The two of them ran circles together in the far yard and snow was kicking up behind them from how fast they were moving. All of this action really enticed the gentle giant Lucy to join in which was so fantastic to see her get excited to play; I guess all it took was the sweet natured DJ and Tinkerbell to be around. Both DJ and Tinkerbell were quite curious of big Lucy and perhaps they thought she seemed out of place but once they saw how gentle and sweet she was they would both get down into a play bow giving her the invitation to join in the fun. Tinkerbell wasn’t quite as enthusiastic about being out in the snow as much as her brother was. She did spend most of her time with her little face to the ground as she sniffed and explored along but she would often run over to me to make sure she got some extra love and warmth on this cool morning. Jax the man was one of the first faces I saw when I came in this morning and boy what a friendly face to start your morning off right! He was very excited to get outside and sniff around the yard as he trailed through the wet fluffy snow. Once he was done making his usual rounds of the yard he came trotting over to me and nudged me right in the shin to get some attention. He then barged his way through the bottom of my legs and hung out around my feet for a bit before it was time to come back in. With not a doubt in my mind, Jax will be curled up on his bed snoozing away all afternoon until it’s time to go back out and do it all over again!
Jax was eager to make his way up front for his extra attention time. As we made our way into the front playroom Jax quickly made his way over to the pile of toys. Among those toys he found himself a bone. Jax seemed pretty please with his discovered and immediately settled down to enjoy it. We spent some time just hanging out while he chew on the bone. Jax then suddenly jumped to his feet and went racing for the couch. He launched himself up on to the couch and then settled down to continue chewing on the bone. I made my way over to keep him company and give him some pets. Soon Jax was wanting to play and dropped the bone. I gave it a toss and he went charging after it. Jax then hopped back up on the couch and waited for me to do it again. We did this a couple more times before Jax needed a break and settled down to chew on his bone once more.
Dynamic duo Max and Sadie didn’t waste anytime this morning; it was straight to their usual wrestling business because how could they resist playing in all of that fluffy snow falling from the sky. Sadie especially loves the snow and is always in her happy place when she is out there. If she ever gets a second to herself, you can often find her with her nose to the ground sniffing along the sides of the yard or plopped down in a snow bank usually in protest to come back inside! Max on the other hand has way too much energy to even think about resting, he likes to live every moment as if its his last and plays to his hearts content. He is lucky to share such a wonderful life with his sister Sadie who encourages his silliness and never says no to a wrestling match and although smaller, always puts up a good fight against big Max. Today Sadie took cover in the agility tunnel and as she poked her head out the other side, Max was already zooming in from the other side. A few rounds in and out of the tunnel and these two were ready to head back in for some much-needed rest.
It was a big and fantastic daycare group to cap off this fun morning out in the snow. To start off we had three of the loveliest ladies around hit the snowy ground, including Issy, Mocha and Kimi. Issy and Mocha love Kimi’s company and today they were spoiled and all hung out in the kitchen together, each sprawled out on a fluffy bed. Although it was hard to leave the warmth, the three of them were ready to hit the ground running. I was delighted to see just how playful Kimi was today; she was surrounded by such good energy and just couldn’t resist a good chase around the yard with some of her favourite friends. Silly Korvo was leading the pack and the rest wasn’t far behind including Kimi who was trying her best to keep up but to no avail. She was very social this morning and was nuzzling noses with just about everyone including Maya and was very amused by little Charly who was barking up a storm trying to get her ball off the fence. Even Mocha must have sensed the good energy that was flowing around this morning because she decided to stay just a little bit longer in the main yard with everyone else before taking her place by the door. There is just so much more exploring to be done with all that fallen snow. Issy was already off doing some exploring of her own; she is usually the first out in the yard and always the first to come back in. She doesn’t waste anytime and knows exactly where her favourite spots are but first she must allow the rest to come up and say hello because she is just to irresistible to the rest! These three ladies were joined by gentleman Percy and Spencer who are also some of our regular and playful daycare guests. Percy was happy to find Charly and Maya out in the yard today because they are both ball crazy and we all know how much Percy loves a good game of fetch, but maybe not as much as he loves herding. Percy’s clever smile always elongates just before I am about to throw the ball and his tongue slips out in the side in anticipation. Off he goes darting towards the ball but he has to be quick because he has both Charly and Maya to keep up with. Luckily there were enough balls out in the yard for everyone to have at least one! Silly Spencer was in such a playful state this morning as well; while the others were off chasing the small fetch balls, he had his eye on the great big jolly ball lying around; the perfect ball to play a quick game of soccer. The ball didn’t keep his interest for too long however because both Maya and Kimi wanted to wrestle and of course there was the big chase after Korvo that he couldn’t miss. He was a busy boy this morning and there were so many friends out there to keep him entertained!
Tsavo had a great day today. She was so well behaved in her group of all Siberian huskies today. She tried her hardest to fit in by jumping in on all of the rough and tumble wrestling. Tsavo was thrilled when puppy, Vega welcomed her with open arms to the fun and games. Tsavo took to Vega really well, allowing her to bounce and pounce all over her without any complaints. Despite being an odd pair, they kept one another very busy for a long time. Their shenanigans didn’t go un-noticed by the others, leading to a large pack of pups playing around with Tsavo in the middle. Tsavo was more than happy to partake in the fun for a brief amount of time. When she was done with the running and playing she broke off from the group to explore the deep snow on her own.
Delilah and I had yet another fabulous day. She and I seem to be paired up for every activity, every day, which means we're becoming very good friends. Today we enjoyed a full walk around the front path, as she seems to prefer walking out front rather than in the forest. Her friend Lucy, who also prefers walking out front, once again accompanied her. This pair led me through the deep snow with bravery and courage. In fact, they were the ones keeping me going, pulling me out of a knee-deep rut at one point. Delilah couldn’t have been happier to partake in this adventure. In the yard today, she kept very busy sniffing and exploring. Whenever I called her name, her ears perked up and she would come bounding towards me. A couple of times group mates Eva and Amadeus asked her to play. After several invites she briefly gave in to their request, and began to bound around with them. This didn’t last long as she prefers to explore on her own rather than partake in busy games. Delilah was happy to head back indoors after her morning outdoors time and cuddle up on her blanket where she stayed cozy and warm until her next outing.
George and Titan never fail to brighten my day with their loving personalities. Titan loved his mornining walk with two staff dogs, Isis and Shelby. This pair happily welcomed Titan to their walk and the trio motored through the snow with smiles on their faces. George really wanted to head out onto the back trail as well, however I had to convince him the yard was just as fun. As soon as he realized I had treats in my pocket, George was more than happy to skip out on a walk. Later on when George and Titan met up in the yard together for their group outing, they both had the same mindset; sniff sniff sniff. It was hard for me to get a photo of either of them as their noses were practically glued to the ground. Both boys love to burry their muzzles into the powdery snow to pick up on any scents deep down. All the smells in the yard kept them very busy for their entire time outdoors. They were always sure to meet up with one another every once in a while, as well as check out the other dogs as they passed by. Right before it was time to head indoors the boys made their way to me where they politely requested some pats and cuddles. Titan was so sweet and offered me loads of kisses, while George kept me warm by nuzzling between my legs. George and Titan got so excited when they spotted me headed there way. There tails and butts were wagging so hard. As soon as I opened their kennel door George and Titan started to bounce around my legs. Titan then went running to the door before running back to me with a question on his face. We then made our way up to the front playroom. George and Titan went off sniffing around the room checking everything out. It didn't take long before they made their way over to the toy pile. George grabbed himself a bone and bouncing off with it. He then settled down for a nice chew. George took a little longer at the toy pile before deciding that he wanted to do some more exploring around the room. George then came over my way for some pets and attention. I found a rope toy nearby and offered it to him. George chomped on it a couple times, but wasn't overly interested in playing with it. I left Titan and George to go and grab some treats. When I got back and they realized what I had they went a little crazy. Titan quickly sat and waited patiently while George started spinning around. I gave then each a treat before tossing some around the room for them to find. The both had a blast hunting for the treats.
Gunnar had an absolute stellar day today! I seemed to have found Gunnar’s absolute favourite toy today, which is the Jolly Ball. This very hard plastic, big red ball was the highlight of Gunnar’s day no doubt. I didn’t know that he loved toys so much until I gently kicked it across the yard. His eyes instantly lit up and he bounded for it with his tongue hanging out the side of his mouth. Gunnar instantly began batting the Jolly Ball around with his paws and his muzzle, as if he were playing soccer. I began to kick the ball around with him, which got him so excited. Soon his friend Charlie was in on the game too, and the pair were leaping and bounding around the ball side by side. Finally both Gunnar and Charlie realized they could pick the ball up and the game of soccer quickly turned to a fun game of keep away. Gunnar was very happy when he got the toy to himself and began prancing around showing of his treasure. Charlie had found another toy, so Gunnar no longer had any competition. Gunnar and I continued to bat around the ball until Gunnar’s good pal Kizmet requested a chase. Gunnar happily dropped the ball to partake in their daily chase. This routine never fails to amuse these two boys. They love pouncing across the yard after one another, followed by a fun-wrestling match. Gunnar couldn’t have been happier with his day to day. He was so played out that he fell asleep the moment he lay down on his bed in his kennel.
Teddie and Kizmet couldn’t be having a better stay with us. These two have got to be the happiest and most playful I have ever seen them. The snow is most definitely bringing out their inner puppy. It didn’t take the boys long at all to begin rolling around in the snow. In fact, they were rolling around before I even got around the corner. I got a laugh walking into the yard and seeing them side-by-side wiggling around on their back. Their group mates are never too sure what to make of their snow-angel antics, so they mostly just stand back and watch. Kizmet was still rolling around when Teddie decided he wanted to play, so he stood over top of Kiz moaning and groaning to get his attention. Finally Teddie decided he would begin necking at Kizmet to get a wrestling match going. Kiz was more than happy to roll and romp around with his brother, equally making the same funny noises. They loved wrestling around so much that they continued this for the majority of their outdoors time. Finally towards the end of their play session, Kiz remembered his pal Gunnar was outdoors with him. He wasn’t going to let a play session go by without chasing after his good buddy. Gunnar was more than happy to zoom around with his friend Kizmet, darting and dodging him all around the yard giving him a run for his money. Of course Teddie briefly joined in, but not for long since he spotted some fresh snow that needed to be rolled in. When Teddie came up for air from rolling in the snow, his face was covered in snow. I got a good laugh at this, and then helped him get the ice chunks off his moustache.
Teddy loved his group today. The dogs couldn’t have been a better match for his play style. Teddy loved another dog-named Teddy (coincidentally). This pair hit it off right away. Teddy loved dancing and prancing around the other Teddy to get his attention and really enjoyed with his friend Teddy jumped on him to play. The pair bounced and pounced all around, drawing all of attention to them. Soon enough all their mates were trying to join in which lead Teddy to begin running around. He had a great time corralling his busy friends, especially Charlie and Gunnar who were playing with toys. Charlie seemed to enjoy Teddy sprinting around him, constantly tossing the ball in his direction looking for a mate to play with. Teddy didn’t want to play; he just wanted to be very in on all the action. Teddy kept quite busy today by playing with his new friend Teddy as well as running around in the fluffy snow after all his friends. When he head indoors he was absolutely covered in snow, he shook it off and I watched it go all over and then fall down on me as if it were snowing indoors.
Charlie never fails to put a smile on my face. Today was no exception; in fact I think he got even cuter! Charlie was absolutely thrilled to be introduced to our Jolly Ball. The Jolly Ball is a very durable big plastic ball that has holes in it, and another small ball on the inside. Charlie couldn’t get enough of this toy. I loved booting the ball around with him and his pal Gunnar who had a great time competing with one another in a friendly manor for possession of the toy. We played a lot of soccer before Charlie was absolutely covered in snow. I had a good laugh at his white tipped coat, before brushing him off. Charlie was happy to get some pats and cuddles from me, before he head off to find another toy. Charlie was thrilled to come across a great red rubber ball. We had even more fun with this toy, as it was perfect for fetch. Charlie is the master at fetching and returning, but he isn’t too fond of giving up the toy. HE comes racing back to my feet and begins dancing around me, but refuses to hand over the ball. We ended up playing more tug than fetch, which he was very happy about. As the snow began to fall even harder I had to put some of the toys up so that we wouldn’t lose them in the snow, but Charlie was having none of it. He was leaping and bouncing all over the fence asking me to please take his ball down. I finally caved in and I played some more fetch with him until it was time to head indoors.
Cai, Tsavo and myself had a fabulous trail walk this morning. Cai is usually so well behaved on a leash, walking right by my side, however the excitement of the trail led him to be a very strong boy. Cai definitely led the way on our walk, plowing through the deep snow with no problem, pulling me along through the forest. I didn’t mind as the momentum really helped me break through the deeper snow. We had good fun out back, doing lots of exploring and adventuring. IN the yard I was so impressed with Cai today. He was so good considering he met so many new dogs today. He politely greeted everyone and then put his nose to the ground to do some exploring. He spent the majority of his outdoor time exploring today, up until the end when Nicki came outdoors to say hello to the dogs. Cai was then very excited, bouncing all over her asking for some attention. She was happy to give him pets and cuddles. This excitement led him to look for a mate to play with. He was happy to come across Teddy and Teddy, whom he briefly joined in on some games with before it was time to head indoors.
