Coco and Timbits were pleased to see some new faces in their group this morning, all the better to have more friends to play with! I knew Timbits would love having Charly and Resa to play with, as they always seem to get the energy flowing. Pepper, Charly and Resa sprinted out to the far yard and Timbits ran after them with Coco not far behind. Everyone started chasing one another around the yard in excitement. Finally Charly broke the action when she found a nice bone in the yard to chew on. This got the attention of both Coco and Timbits as they ran over to see what she found. Timbits barked and howled with much enthusiasm as if he was telling her to share. Something else got Charly’s attention and she ran off but luckily she left the bone behind. Coco immediately snatched the bone and started to play as Timbits followed Charly for another chase session. Eventually Coco got bored of chewing the bone and intercepted Timbits as he was chasing Pepper; she started to wrestle her little brother and the two of them rolled around all morning long. To no surprise, Duffy stayed close to my side as I walked around the yard. He is a very loyal boy and loves human companionship. If I weren’t paying attention to him at any given moment he would jump up on his hind legs and paw at me for attention with a great big clever smile on his face. I took a seat with him and gave him a few head rubs as we watched everyone else play. He even made sure to guard me from the other dogs if they came to close, as he wanted all of the attention to himself!

Khal was just vibrating with excitement as I approached his kennel door this morning with leash in hand and the lovely Aurora in my other. It was time for his trail walk and he let his excitement be known as he howled the whole way along the trail with one of his new favorite buddies Aurora! Next up for Khal was some extra attention out in the yard for one of his first outings. He was so pleased to have the whole yard to himself to explore and that’s exactly what he did; sniffed that yard out from top to bottom with his tail perked right up. He would only momentarily lift his nose up from the ground when I would call him over; excitedly he would run full tilt towards me with a great big goofy smile spread across his face. He would then plunk himself down right between my feet as I have him lots of head and back rubs; not a bad start to his morning, but lots of more fun and interaction to come his way! Khal's favourite part of the day was his extra attention time. He was so giddy to come out of his kennel and see me when I went to get him. The two of us raced up the hallway and went right out into the front field for some play time. As soon as we got out there I put Khal on the long leash so that he could roam around the field. Khal absolutely loved all the freedom he had on it and was racing around as well as sniffing every single tree that he passed. Often times he'd venture off into the long grass and I wouldn't even see him because he'd be rolling around on his back. There was one big bush in particular that Khal loved sniffing. He spent most of his time getting right in the middle of it and sniffing about to see if he could find any little creatures. In between sniffing sessions, I had Khal chase me around on the grass and play with me for a little bit. He always loved getting little treats here and there and would do an excellent job of sitting or giving paw whenever I asked. After a bit more play time out front, I brought Khal in so that we could snuggle in the reception area. Khal darted inside and immediately laid down in a comfy spot on the floor. For the remainder of his extra attention time we cuddled as I gave him a good brush as well as a belly rub.

The always playful and excitable duo Max and Sadie were out next and boy were they thrilled to run out some energy and soak up that beautiful sun we had this morning. They sprinted out the doors and right into the yard where Max started running his usual laps around me while Sadie’s curious nose hit the ground as she started to explore the yard. She didn’t have much time to sniff out the yard for long however since her playful brother enticed her over to play in the far yard. She accepted that invitation to play and off they went rolling and wrestling around. Sadie zoomed off and took cover on the picnic table then ran over to the rock where she posed for a nice picture! She sure loves to jump up and over all the obstacles in the yard. Max the silly boy happily paced around the yard as he stretched out his long legs but always made sure to come over when I called him for that extra love he always wants and craves. Max and Sadie love their time spent here with us as it is written all over their body language with big smiles and wiggly bums at all times.

Francis and Nunu enjoyed a great walk this morning. The weather is absolutely perfect, making our trot along the trail beautiful. The girls lead the way, as usual, with their noses to the ground. The pair was very focused on all the smells in the damp dirt, stopping to dig at the mud on occasion but quickly finding themselves back on the path as they spotted the other walking away. Silly me put liver treats in my pocket earlier in the day, which kept these two very occupied during our group outing. Despite the fact that there were no actual treats left, the girls knew I had something in there at one point. The strong smell of liver kept these two begging and begging for the whole duration of their outside time. I was getting howled at, non-stop. After endless a howling, Francis thought that by sitting, lying down, and throwing her paw at me a treat would magically appear. As Nunu spotted her sister showing off some commands she automatically assumed she was receiving some treats, causing her to bolt over and howl at me some more. After endless harassing for treats, I decided to head back inside and get them some goodies. The girls were thrilled with the teats they received, but of course, they wanted more. I spent the whole time outside being howled at and pawed at until finally we came indoors and they got another treat once they returned to their kennel.

Boris and Tasha were very happy to be accompanied by son, and brother, Justice today. Justice had himself very preoccupied by all the scents in the yard, but this wasn’t going to stop Boris from asking him to play. Boris wasn’t shy when play bowing, and leaping all over Justice. Of course, Justice ended up giving in, really providing Boris with a very equal playmate. It didn’t take long for mother Tasha to leap in and begin refereeing the boys. At this point, Justice decided he had enough of the shenanigans and went back to exploring. Boris wasn’t anywhere near ready to settle down yet, so he bravely took on his mom in a rough wrestling match. Tasha pounced on Boris over and over again, pushing him against the tunnel. Boris’s way out was by rolling on his back, acting as if the play was too rough. The moment Tasha eased up, Boris sprung up and leaped on the tunnel to escape her and show he is a big boy that can take her on. The pair continued to goof around, Boris on the tunnel with Tasha pawing and chatting to him from the ground. Justice decided to join back in on the fun by bolting through the tunnel and flying out the end that Boris was standing on, leading him to chase him. Boris, Justice, and Tasha then began to fly across the yard with fire under their paws. They did lap after lap, chasing one another, until they were all tired out. The trio was then happy to spend the remainder of their outdoor time sniffing, and begging for treats, before heading back indoors for an afternoon nap.

Chloe was so thrilled when she head outside and saw the Jolly Ball sitting across the yard. The bee-lined it for this fun toy, and instantly began batting it around. As much fun as the Jolly Ball is, it does force some brainwork as this toy can be nearly impossible to pick up. Chloe spent some time trying to wrap her head around how on earth she was going to be able to fit this giant, hard, plastic ball in her mouth. She finally figured out a way to get her mouth around one of the holes in the ball and snatched it up. She was so proud of her accomplishment that she instantly began zooming around with her whole bum shaking back and forth while squeaking and squealing. I offered to take it from her and throw it numerous times, but of course she refused to give her prized possession up. Chloe was so focused on her toy today that she barely remembered all the dogs in the yard with her. She found herself in the middle of some tunnel action and quickly tried to escape it by leaping over the tunnel, which only encouraged dogs to chase after her. She was excited to briefly take part in a chase, but soon remembered her toy was at risk of being snatched so she went back to running around on her own showing off the big ball.

Caesar is sweet as can be. We had such a great one on one time this morning for his extra attention. Caesar absolutely loves hanging out in the playroom. His favourite part is the giant bin of toys. Caesar kept himself very occupied by constantly sticking his head in the bin, finding a toy, playing with it for a brief amount of time, and then heading back to the bin in search of a better on. Caesars favourite toy today was definitely the Jolly Ball. He had no problems at all picking this big toy up and running around with it. He was a little hesitant in giving it up to me but once he realized I only wanted to play fetch he was quick to hand it over. We played a couple rounds of fetch before Caesar decided he wanted belly rubs and cuddles. Caesar was very occupied in the yard today by three spunky dogs, Bella, Finn, and Vega. He found himself right in the middle of their games over and over again. He loved being involved in the young shenanigans. Caesar had some fun boxing around with Finnigan and zooming around the yard with Bella. Puppy Vega even gave Caesar a run for his money by asking to wrestle around. I think he went pretty easy on her, letting her jumpy all over him and pull on his ears and tail. He wasn’t bothered at all by all the fun and games; in fact he continued to go back for more after getting some pets and cuddles from me.

Bella and I had a great walk this morning with Charly, a young golden retriever. This duo really kept me busy, as they weren’t very aware that leashes mean walk, not play. I was taken over by these spunky girls desire to play. They were running in circles around me as well as leaping and bounding all over one another. Needless to say, their leashes were an absolute mess by the end of the walk, but they were absolutely thrilled with the friendship they had developed. Bella was so excited to be in a group with her mate from last week, Finnigan, Bella and Finnigan are a match made in heaven, and were sure to find one another. They picked up right where they left off last week, by rolling all around on the ground. Finnigan loves being dominated by Bella, flailing his limbs around on his back as she pounces all over him like a kangaroo. Bella is known for her signature kangaroo moves, which really drew the attention of Caesar and Vega. Bella and Finn were so happy to have two more friends join in on their games today, creating quite the busy swarm of dogs. They kept each other so busy by wrestling around which always ended up leading to a chase. At one point, Vega and Caesar bolted through the tunnel while Bella and Finn leapt on top and scurried across the top of it. Both Bella and Finn have great balancing skills. They alternated taking turns on top of the tunnel while the other boxed around with them from the ground. The pair was so tired when I called them indoors they didn’t put up a stink at all, quickly heading back to their kennels where they both crashed on their comfy cots.
