Duffy is such a sweet, loving boy. He
diverts all of his attention to whichever human is in the yard with him during
his outdoor time, rather than focusing on the other dogs around him. He always
patiently waits outside the door as I corral the rest of his group down the
hall and outdoors. The moment I enter the yard he begins dancing all around me
with great excitement, knowing cuddles are on their way. Duffy trotted right by
my side as I made my way into the grassy yard with his tail wagging. He was so pleased
when I sat down on a rock, putting my hand out offering for him to join me.
Duffy climbed onto the rock like a little mountain goat, and sat right next to
me under my arm happily accepting pats down his sides and scratches behind his
ears and under his chin. Duffy was very content with all my company, while
closely supervising his crazy group mates playing around. After a good amount
of time together, Duffy actually left my side to check out what his group mates
Miko, Tag and Resa were up to. These three were being very silly, sprinting
around the yard together and pouncing all over one another. To my surprise,
Duffy joined in on the games for a brief period of time. He had so much fun
swatting his paws around at Tag and Resa as they leapt side to side around him.
He also zoomed around with Miko for a quick lap of the yard before noticing
that I was on my own. He diverted from his friends to make his way back to my
side for some more attention before it was time to head indoors.
Tag had yet another brilliant day with us.
This girl is the life of the party during her playtime. She is still very
content in the small dog group, as their size seems to match her personality
and confidence much more. Tag wiggled her way down the hall and out the door
with her tail flapping back and forth and a big smile on her face. She didn’t
look back once as she wandered out into the yard, greeting all her group mates
one by one. Tag was such a good girl, politely saying hello to her older group
mates and appropriately pouncing on her younger group mates. It took Tag a
couple tries before she found the right friend to play with, which to no ones
surprise was, Resa. Resa loves to zip and zoom around the yard when she finds
the right mate, and Tag did just the job. These two were a match made in
heaven. The pair bolted all around the yard, doing laps and laps of the yard
with their ears flapping in the wind, bounding across the grass like deer in a
field. Tag kept herself so busy throughout her entire outdoors time by staying
right on Resa’s tail, no matter what Resa was up to. This duo raced, wrestled,
boxed, and even relaxed side by side. I was happy to see Tag have a calm moment
in the yard when she came across a great bone. She lay down by my side, with
Resa, to gnaw on this treasure before Miko came pouncing over inviting the pair
to keep playing. Without hesitation, Tag leapt up and zoomed after Miko. Despite
the fact that Miko is small, he does a great job of keeping up with Tag who is
much larger than him. Miko had so much fun racing around with this outgoing,
loving, ball of energy. She kept Miko very busy for the last ten minutes of
group time, as she wouldn’t leave him alone. Miko was more than happy to have
such a cute girl following him around, pawing at him, and licking his ears. Right
before it was time to come in Miko left Tag’s side to catch up with his bff
Pearl who was mainly occupied by her nose for her whole time outside. After
saying his usual silly hello to her he made his way to my lap where we cuddled
until I carried him indoors.
Lola and Pearl are always such a pleasure
to have here. As usual, the girls were so excited to get here in the morning.
They made their grand entrance by wiggling down the hall. Lola chatted away
while Pearl did zigzags down the hall letting her nose lead the way to their
favourite kennel with a big comfy cot. When it was time to go out for groups,
Pearl leapt up and flew out the door like a lightening bolt. Lola on the other
hand, slowly hopped off the cot, did a big stretch, and in no hurry at all
wandered down the hall stopping to sniff all the other kennels, double checking
for any stray kibbles or treats. To her disappointment there were no treasures
to be found so she head out into the yard to do some more investigating. Both
of the girls kept themselves pretty busy with their noses today. Pearl is
hilarious as she wiggles around the yard like a little pig taking in all the
smells very vocally. Lola prefers to slowly make her away around the yard,
stopping to take in the sun at any good opportunity or happily accepting pets
and cuddles when offered. Pearl was pleased to be interrupted by her pal Miko
towards the end of group time. He offered to play with her, which she briefly
gave in to before putting her muzzle back to the ground for some more
investigation. The pair was happy to relax in the warm warm sun until it was
time to head back indoors where they were thrilled to receive a cookie once
they had settled down on their bed.
Max and Sadie are hilarious in the yard
together, just the two of them. These two keep themselves so occupied with one
another without any hesitation. Today the pair was quick to make their way
across the yard and into the grassy yard where they quickly put their noses to
the ground to do some investigating. After lots of sniffing and exploring,
Sadie parted ways from Max to do some of her typical climbing. Sadie perched on
top of the rock and sniffed the air and then climbed all over the picnic table.
She then leapt off the picnic table right onto the rock where I was sitting and
began smothering me in kisses and cuddles. Sadie is such an attention hog
sometimes, pushing Max away as he approached asking for love to. I made sure
each of them got some kisses and cuddles which only enticed Max to get Sadie
playing. The duo then kept each other very busy playing around. Max was so
thrilled to get Sadie zooming around the yard after him, which lead to Sadie
pouncing all over him. Max and Sadie had a great time romping and wrestling all
through out the yard. This lead to more chasing, more boxing, more wrestling,
and more cuddling. They kept at this for endless amounts of time until I had to
corral them indoors for an afternoon nap.
What an action packed group Chloe was part
of today but we all know that the good energy is flowing when this little girl
is around. Chloe has the same routine every morning when her paws hit the
outdoors: collect all of the toys. The only thing that changes day to day for
her is who will join her outside and challenge her for the toys! Today she was
joined by three lovely gentlemen Caesar, Tanner and Walker; luckily for her
they weren’t interested in her toys and she was free to roam and play on her
own terms. Well this is boring she thought; next she was trying to entice
everyone to chase her as she nudged the ball with her nose towards her new
friends. What a silly girl she is, I made sure to throw the ball for her and
let her prance around in pride once she snatched it from me! Walker was busy
wrestling around with some of his favourite lady friends Aurora and Vega and
Caesar wasn’t far behind joining in. Back and forth they would zoom across the
yard, then up and over the agility tunnel. Aurora loved all of the attention
and Walker gave her lots of it. He is such a playful boy and gets along great
with any group since he has such a fun loving personality that all the dogs
adore. Caesar’s attention finally broke and he zoomed off to see what else was
going on in the yard. He is a very confident lad and wants to make sure that he
is always in the centre of the action. That meant following the pack around the
yard and seeing whom he could play with; he enjoyed watching Charly frantically
play fetch with the rope toy but then took an interest in Tanner and followed
him around the yard. Tanner the joyful fellow took his time making his rounds
of the yard making sure to stop and take a seat between my legs for some head
rubs, or perhaps he was taking cover from the curious Caesar who was following
him around the yard! Either way he always enjoys his group time and especially
enjoyed that he got to spend his day in the staff room with lovely ladies
Merida and Charly. Lots of cuddles and naps happening in that room today!
Daycare pals and best buds Issy, Mocha,
Percy and Riley made up my next group. It was a fairly quiet group today; I
think everyone was just excited to be outside on this beautiful day in good
company. To no surprise Issy made her way far out into the agility yard and got
to sniffing. Everyone else followed close behind her apart from Mocha and
little Rhodri who decided to keep each other company by the door; that was the
warm spot where the sun was shining! With little convincing, I got Mocha to
follow me into the yard where she was greeted warmly by Maya who is just as
calm and sweet as she is. Mocha really liked her interaction with Maya and her
tail perked right up, but before I knew it I found her back in her warm spot
with the biggest smile ever on her face! Percy and Riley also followed close
beside me as I tried to snap some picture of Issy. Issy always knows when the
camera is on her and immediately darts her face the other way! Percy thought
there wasn’t enough action going on so he picked up the rope toy and started
swinging it around. Luckily the just as playful Korvo was in this group and ran
over to see what was going on. Even Riley ran over and started to wrestle.
Percy loved the attention and went right into herding mode and started making
laps and barked his loudest! Sweet boy Riley would come tumbling over towards
me when I would call his name; he knew he was going to get some extra
attention. I love when Riley gets bursts of energy, at times he seems so calm
but then out of no where he gets the zoomies and his whole body wiggle with
pure excitement like the true Golden he is.
