Caesar had yet another fun filled and energetic day today! He started off his day with a fun, yet peaceful walk with one of his many guy friends. All the girls have loved him during his stay so he's definitely got quite a few girl friends surrounding him and couldn't wait to spend some time just with one of the guys today . Once he saw who he was with, Caesar started bouncing all over the place with excitement. He and his friend hopped outside and were ready to take on their walk. They walked side by side for the most part but Caesar would sometimes stray from the walk due to his wandering nose. He found himself in the very long grass every so often but never ended up finding any little creatures in there. Caesar was very good on his walk today and even loved coming to say hi to me every so often. After walks, It was time for Caesar's extra attention time. Boy does he ever go crazy when he knows it's his time. I can always hear him jumping up at his kennel waiting for me to come get him. Once I did, the two of us took off down the hallway as fast as he wanted and made out wait out front. I let him explore in the longer grass out front for a little while before putting him on the extra long leash out front. Immediately we began playing fetch as that always seems to be his favorite thing to do. Caesar could hardly wait two seconds for me to throw the ball before he was already racing after it. Some times he'd try to steal it from me but it never ended up too well for him. I was always able to throw it before he was quick enough to jump up and get it. For the most part of Caesar's extra attention time we played fetch. Towards the end of his time we went inside and got all snuggled up with some extra treats. It was definitely quite a chilly day outside so Caesar was very excited to get all warm and toasty from cuddling. When it came time for Caesar's outdoor play group in the afternoon, he was just as excited to get outside and start playing with his friends. Caesar was such a ht with all his old and even some new friends today. As soon as he got outside he made sure to greet everyone before choosing the perfect friend to play with. Caesar ended up playing a little bit with everyone just to make sure that everyone was included. During his group he and I played fetch with a bright pink Frisbee. I hadn't realized how much he absolutely loved racing after it until today! By the end of his group time he was definitely ready for a long afternoon nap.
Lilo started her day off on a very fun walk with her best friend Molly. Lilo was waiting with anticipation right at her kennel door for me this morning. She couldn't stop her little bum from wagging as fast as it could once she realized it was her time to go out. Once I got her all set up on her leash she raced to the door and let me know she wanted to go. For most of her walk, Lilo had her nose on the ground sniffing away at any little scent that she could find. She was so preoccupied with sniffing that I think she forgot we were on a walk a few of the times and I had to call her to get her attention. Eventually she'd pop her head up and race over to me, or should I say her next sniff spot, and start all over again. When it came time for Lilo's outdoor play group, she was put in her usual playful and energetic group. Once Lilo got outside it was off to the races as she took off like a bullet into the yard. She didn't pay attention to anyone in her group at first because she was so busy racing around the yard. Lilo ran all around the agility yard, to the big dog gravel yard and even did a few laps around the further grass yard. She was definitely full of beans for this group outing. After a little while of running. Lilo tried to encourage her friends to join her. She would race right up to one of them and bounce at the to try and get them to play. Whenever they'd join her, Lilo would take off like a race horse but if they didn't, she enjoyed coming over to see me for a little bit of cuddles.
Duffy had an amazing day with us here at Tails & Trails. He started his day off on a nice long field walk with Kally and his good pal, and look alike, Buddy. Although it was a little crisp in the morning breeze, Duffy really seemed to enjoy his walk this morning. When it was time to go out for his group, Duffy ran through the hall and out to the yard alongside his wonderful pals. After running around the yard, Duffy went over to each one of his pals, gave them all a good sniff and continued on with running around the yard. Not long after a few pals chased Duffy around the yard while the others wandered around looking for something to do. When Duffy stopped to look around the yard, theo ther dogs would run by and get him excited and moving again. He certainly enjoys the best of both worlds while he's out in the yard: jumping in on the fun with the other dogs, or exploring and spending some one-on-one time with me. Eventually, Duffy got tired and spent the rest of his time outside sniffing around and taste testing the grass.
Buddy is such a funny character. For his walk this morning, he spent some time with his good pals Kally and Buddy. On his walk, Buddy spent most of his time sniffing around in the grass, however he did stop a few times to play around with Duffy. When the boys got back inside, Buddy was more than happy to curl up on his bed for a snooze while he waited to go out again. When it was time to go outside, Buddy waited for all of his pals to go outside before he made his way out. After getting out the door, Buddy stopped to say hello to everyone and to give them all a sniff before continuing on to his own thing. For the remainder of his group, Buddy spent his time sniffing around the fence and the big boulders we have in the yard. For Buddy’s extra attention today, we spent some time in reception. As he got up front, he ran over to where the treat jar sits and waited for me to give him a few. After I gave him a few treats I sat down on the floor with him, by the toy box and we look through it to see what he liked. After picking out the toy he liked, he and I played with the toy a bit while I gave him a few more treats. When he got tired of playing, Buddy spent some time sniffing around reception before I took him back to his kennel.
Dixie loves spending time with us while he parents are away. For her walk this morning, she popped right out of bed as soon and I went to get her, and ran down the hall barking saying hello to all of her friends. When we got outside, he fur blew in the cool morning breeze, and she stretched her nose to the sky to smell the fresh air. Throughout her walk, Dixie spent her time walking with her nose to the ground to smell all the new scents that have come since she was there yesterday morning. When she got back to her kennel, Dixie curled up in her bed as she waited for her next turn to go outside. When it was time for her group, Dixie ran out the door and to the far yard to see what was going on. For her group, Dixie spent her time sniffing around the yards while she watched her pals chase each other around. Before it was time to go back inside, Dixie came over to me for a few treats, while I called her inside. Dixie was very excited for her extra attention today! We headed up front
and Dixie immediately set to work exploring the room. I showed her some
toys to catch her interest but Dixie was much happier to cuddle
instead. She sat in my lap and we snuggled for a bit, and then I grabbed
Dixie some treats for her to snack on. She happily parked her bum on
the ground and waited for a reward. Then Dixie enjoyed a nice scratch
behind the ears and a belly rub. Once she was satisfied with the
attention, she went to wander around the room again and sniff around in
some places that she hadn't visited yet. Dixie wanted to hop up on the
chair, so I scooped her up and let her explore the chair. For the last
couple of minutes, Dixie sat on my lap and cuddled while I typed up her part of the
blog!
Sophie B is having a blast with us while her parents are away. This morning for her walk, she got to spend some time out in the field wandering around. When she got outside, she looked simply pleased at how the cool breeze blew through her fur. Throughout her walk, Sophie spent her time sniffing around and wandering through the tall grass. When she got back to her kennel she curled up on her bed until it was time to go back outside. When it was time to go out with her group, Sophie ran out the door and through the yard as fast as she could, followed by her pals Myles, Reesa, Miko, and Percy. As they all chased each other around the yard, Myles went off to do his own thing but the other two stayed to play with Sophie. As they all started to slow down, out of breath, Sophie came over for a few treats and went over to the fence to sniff around until it was time to go back inside. Sophie loves spending quality time with her people friends during her extra attention time. She raced up the hallway today and couldn't wait to get through the door into the reception area. She and Alyssa spent lots of time cuddling together and having a few special treats. Sophie settled down for a little while and snuggled, but was soon back up and looking for the next activity. She was sitting by the door, so I thought she might like to go and have a walk around outside. She enjoyed sniffing in the long grass, taking in the scents that the wind carried in on this breezy day. Sophie followed her nose around the front field until it was time to head back inside.
Miko had a great day with us today. For his walk this morning, although it was cold Miko was still super excited. When he got to the field he ran round, happy as he could be. Throughout his walk, Miko spent his time with his nose to the sky as his hair blew in the wind. Near the end of his walk, Miko decided to stop a few times to try to find a place to roll around, and after he found one that satisfied him, he flopped down and rolled around for a bit. When he got back to his kennel, he curled up on his cot and had a nap before group time. When it was time to go outside, Miko ran out with his pals and chased after them as they all ran around the yard. Miko spent most of his group with his friends Sophie, Percy and Resa chasing around the grass yard. Before it was time to go back inside, Miko took a few minutes to sniff around the fence and to get a few treats from me. Later on in the afternoon, Miko and I spent some time together in the reception area. He was so excited to get up there and sniff all around the room. The whole time while we walked up the hallway, he saw pawing at my ankles, so excited to be heading wherever it was that we were going. As soon as we got up there, Miko instantly remembered where the treat jar was and sat patiently by it, waiting for his reward for being so handsome. He sat very nicely for me, and then lied down when he was told as well. He is such a good boy. We then did some more little tricks for some treats, and Miko has in heaven. After that, I enticed Miko with some toys but he isn't a big toy guy so we settled for lots of snuggles. I sat on the desk chair and Miko hopped right up onto my lap, ready to lap up all the attention he could get. I pet his head for the longest and rubbed his ears. Eventually he lied down in my lap and when I looked down on him, he was taking a quick little nap! So cute...After snoozing for a little while longer, he returned to his kennel and got ready to head outside with his friends for an outing!
Sophie W had a great last day of her stay with us today. For her walk this morning, she spent her time sniffing around in the bushes and saying hello to the neighbor’s horses. As she walked along the trail, she took a few minutes to enjoy the cool morning breeze before we got back to her kennel. After we got back from her walk, Sophie curled up on her bed and had a nap. When it was time to go out with her group, Sophie ran out the door as fast as she could, excited to be out with her pals. Although Sophie didn’t spend much time playing around today, she did enjoy watching everyone play around chasing around the yard. While she watched her pals play she took some time to sniff around in the grass, and in the outdoor kennel. Before it was time for her to go back inside, she came over to e when I called her and I gave her a few treats for being such a god girl. When she got back to her kennel, it was long before the lovely Alex came to get her for her bath.
Maggie G. is really settling in and feeling at home with us. When I got her for her walk, she raced down the hall excited to get out there this morning. When she got to the field, she spent some time at the gates sniffing around in the bushes before we continued on with our walk. Throughout her walk, Maggie spent most of her time sniffing around, however she did stop a few times to run around with her pal and be silly. When she got back to her kennel, Maggie curled up into her bed until it was time for her group. When it was time to go outside, Maggie was so happy to be out with all her pals, she ran around the yard a few times then stopped to say hi to everyone. After greeting her pals she went over to the rocks to sniff around while she sat back and watched. Before it was time to go back inside, Maggie came over to me for a few treats and cuddles.
Isis and Shelby are really enjoying their time away from home, but they miss their sister Sky. When it was time for their group, Isis and Shelby ran out of the staff room, down the hall and out the door in a matter of seconds. When they got outside, they saw their pals Lilo, Molly, Vega and Aurora. As soon as Vega saw Shelby, the two took off together through the yard, stopping briefly to run through the play structure then back around the yard. It wasn’t long before Isis and Molly joined in on the fun of chasing each other around the yards. As Shelby started getting tired, she kindly asked Vega to give her some space so she could sniff around, and she did. After Isis slowed down a bit, she ran over to Aurora and nudged her to play with her, however she told Isis she was more interested in the treats I had in my hand. After giving Isis and Aurora a few treats they went there separate ways as I went around to take pictures of everyone. Before it as time to go back inside, I called the girls over, gave the all a treat and a kiss and opened up the hallway door for them to come back in.
