Duke has come to love his bestie, Rex. Their kennels are side by side and every so often, Rex jumps up and takes a peek at what Duke is doing in his kennel. They walked together this morning and I put Duke on his leash first and then Rex. Duke was so excited that they got to walk together. Rex was jumping up and down, telling me that he can't wait to get out there. He sat politely and let me put his leash on and then we were off! They got to spend more time together outside as well. Rex loved one of the new dogs in the group named Riley and was mainly interested in playing with him. Riley was a little shy at first but Rex insisted that they be friends right away. He got his wish and in no time these two were playing around like crazy! Rex took the odd break to check out the toy status in the yard. He found a blue rubber toy and carried it around after I threw it twice. He sure loves his toys, but today his focus was on his friends. Duke liked Riley too, but he was in a more cuddly mood today. Every time he was near me, I called his name and he immediately lit up and ran towards me and jumped right into my legs. He turned his body around, letting me know that he would like to have a back scratch. After he was satisfied with that, he turned again and asked for a nice rub behind his ears. After all his wishes were fulfilled, he gave me a quick nose kiss and headed off into the yard. So cute.
Max sure knows how to make an entrance into the yard! Today Sadie was waiting in the doorway to go outside and Max came flying down the hallway and leaped over her and right into the dogs standing outside. Wally and Ricky were taken by surprise but were excited to see him for sure. Sadie and Max went their separate ways outside for the first part, but they must have a secret signal for when it is time to play because they always start running at the same time and get everyone to join in. Today this happened, and Wally and Glory got in on the fun as well. They went across the yard, in and out of the agility yard and Sadie rolled on the ground a number of times. They took a break halfway through group time and continued wandering around. Max went and saw some old friends in the yard, like Percy, Issy and Mocha. Sadie sniffed the agility things in the yard. There were some pretty interesting smells out there because her nose was glued to anything she could find outside. When it was time to come in, these two headed to the playroom together to burn off some more energy!
Bennie was in a really energetic group today. Even though he loves the company and other dogs, it was a little too high energy for little Bennie. He spent most of his time wandering by himself, checking out everything in the yard. He stayed in the main yard with Mocha and Issy while the rest of them did their crazy playing in the agility yard. Mocha stayed in her favorite spot near the door and migrated to her other spots in the yard that she likes to hang out in. Issy was a little explorer today. She made her way through all the yard and once she was done, she was barking at me, asking if she could go into the far yard. I told her it was too muddy today for her to venture in there, and she wandered away and checked on Mocha. Little Brokk came into the main yard too and went and saw Issy. Bennie saw Brokk and decided that he was a good candidate to play with. Bennie went and sniffed Brokk and the two of them bounced around for a few minutes before Brokk had enough playing for the day. Bennie was still happy that he got to play with someone more his speed for a while before they all headed inside. Issy and Mocha retreated to the comfy warm kitchen for the remainder of the morning and enjoyed a nice snooze.
Winston was livelier than usual outside today! He protested against going out, but once he was out there he wandered around more than usual and sniffed some of the longer grass by the fence. There weren't too many small dogs in today, but Winston went and said hello to most of them. He went to say hi to Baxter, a young Cocker Spaniel, but he was too much for Winston so he moved away and kept slowly wandering around. I called him over a couple times and he finally decided to make the hike to where I was sitting outside. I gave him a good back scratch and pet his head and he seemed to really like it. He was getting the best massage ever, but then Mac came over and wanted to play with Winston. Winston was flattered that little Mac wanted to play with him, but he politely declined and made his way back to the door, letting me know he was ready to head inside.
Kouza had a quieter day. Her group was really small so she and Miko were the only ones that wanted to explore the far yard. Miko was sad that his besties Lola and Pearl weren't in for daycare today, but he made the most of his day still. He made sure to sniff all the big rocks in the yard, making sure that he didn't miss any intriguing scents. Mac was a tease to Miko today. Miko was dying for someone to play with him outside after a long trip around the yard and sniffing everything there was possible to sniff. Mac came charging into the yard and Miko got super excited because he thought that this was his chance to play, finally. But Mac calmed down the second Miko came over. I guess Mac was more relaxed today, just like Kouza. Kouza had a good morning. She went for a good walk along the trail with one of her fellow small dogs. She likes to take her time on her walk, trotting right beside my leg, veering off sometimes to explore the long grass.
Logan was in a very good mood today. He started with his every-day walk, which he loves. It is his favorite time of day. He also really loves getting outside after walks. His group today was a bunch of dogs that he met yesterday, so he enjoyed seeing them again. He started off by entering the agility yard, and exploring in there. The majority of the other dogs followed him in there, checking everything out as well. At one point while we were outside, Bentley and Brenyn started racing around the yard and ended up going into the tunnel. Logan was fascinated with this and jumped up, ready to chase them back in there. They didn't end up running around again, but it still got him really excited. He loves the company of the other dogs, even if the group of them aren't big players or like to run around a lot. He is happiest when he is surrounded by his friends.
Fez made himself a girlfriend today in the yard! Hershey, the adorable chocolate lab, came in last night and met Fez for the first time this morning. They hit if off right away. Hershey has lots of energy and is constantly moving around in the yard, trotting from one dog to the next, making sure she knows what everyone is up to in the yard. Fez was so love struck with her that he followed her around almost the whole time. When he wasn't right behind her, he was nearby. Fez even wanted to get her to play with him. He got into a playful stance and barked at her, inviting her to play. Hershey was happy that Fez really liked her and she seemed to like him as well, but she wasn't in the mood to play. She more likes to spend her time wandering around, taking in all there is to see outside. Hershey also met Dexter today. Dexter is just like Hershey, where he likes to check out what everyone else is doing. These two stuck close by one another as well.
Dexter was with his group from yesterday and when he got into the yard, he made sure to catch up with them and see how they've been. Dexter wasn't a fan of the wet weather we had today, but he still enjoyed himself out in the yard. He was interested in Brenyn for a while, and followed her around to see what she was sniffing. He moved on from that after and went to the main yard. This is where he saw Bentley sitting in one of the outdoor kennels, staying nice and dry. He realized how good of an idea it was to hangout in there so he joined Bentley. Soon afterwards, Hershey and Fez were in there too! Dexter was ready after that to come inside and enjoy a nice little treat and cuddle.
