Cattery

Chief is not quite ready to share his scratching post with the other kitties yet! Whenever you enter the room to put him back in his kennel he always wants a belly rub first before you can persuade him off of his kitty pouch! He is such a snugglebug though that we really don't mind giving him some extra love and attention.
Habenero is always up for a good chat any time you can spare your ear. When I entered the cat room I could instantly hear her  saying she was ready for her  time out in the room. She had to wait just a little longer though for the other kitties to have their time out and then I'm sure she will be all over the new cat post!
Marley is such a sweet boy! He loves being pet and likes to rub his head all over you to show his affection. He has such beautiful hair that is so nice and soft, it's  hard to stop petting it and get back to work! He likes to have his neck and behind his ear scratched but enjoys it too much and rolls all over you which then makes that difficult to do!
Ava was quite content lazing the day away in her nice comfy basket bed. She has got quite the sweet set up in that thing, with all those nice comfy blankets and it being so nice and snuggly, she sure had the right idea for today's chilly weather.

Groups

Well it was a little harder to persuade this group to get going this afternoon! The chilly rain was not all that fun to play in but this group made the best of the weather situation. Cricket is always looking for snuggles as often as possible. Any time I would crouch down to take photos of a pup she would be right in my face wanting attention. The same goes for her big brother Will who likes to wander around the yard, sniffing here and there but once he catches sight of you, he wants to come say hi !For the most part, these two like to stick together and sniff as a team but occasionally Cricket broke away from their little duo and went to introduce herself to the other pups. Kouza sure does love to chat when she's outside! She looks over in your direction and immediately likes to start a conversation with you. I try to chat back to her but that girl will barely let me get a word in edgewise! I'm guessing she's trying to discuss the weather with me because she looks up to the sky and then to me to bark and howl. Keegan and Dugan had a nice walk together along with another pup named Sasha. The three of them enjoyed the trail together and then soon after it was outside time! Those two are very keen sniffers who like to keep to themselves so that they can focus on their important tracking. Every once in a while they will mingle with me or the other dogs but mostly stick together and keep their sniffers to the ground. Ginger is quite the shy little lady but my goodness does she ever love all the attention she gets from her friends here. She loves to be pet and loved especially in this gloomy weather. Once we were outside for a while and it was time to go to the indoor playroom, all the dogs were so much happier inside that they all started to mingle a bit more. Ginger picked out a nice cot for herself to sit and relax on until she returned to her nice comfy bed &#X1f60a.

The next group to head outside ended up being a very red gold group.  It's always funny when this happens because I know it's never on purpose. Jax, Tanner, Molly and Luigi are pretty much exactly the same colour. Max isn't too far off colour wise, but he matched a lot more closely than Magic the grey and white husky. As soon as we got out to the agility yard Tanner ran out, turned around, and proceeded to play bow. I'm not really sure if it was to me or any of the dogs, but he seemed to have fun doing it. Jax spent some time with me for some pets and attention before he went bounding over to Tanner to take him up on the play invite. Max had gone off to do a little exploring, but when he saw that there was play afoot he had to be a part of it. In the end Max and Jax ran off to play and wrestle together. Tanner tagged along for a little while before deciding to make his way over to me for some pets and cuddles. This was pretty much what happened for the rest of our time outside. Though Tanner was hit with the zoomies once more and went ripping around. He then came tearing back to my side to bounce around and try to steal my gloves.

Poochio and Beanie made a nice friend named Maya today! Beanie especially loved her and the two of them played for quite a while. They did a little dance together at first, bumping into each other and darting out of each other's way and then it turned into a full blown game of chase! Beanie was the chaser and each time she got close to Maya, the two would stop running and start dancing around again. Beanie took a break for a little while to introduce herself to Cooper and then the two of them continued on their way. Poochio makes a very good referee for the games as he likes to sit on the sidelines and bark orders at everyone playing. When I got the dogs inside he started to do the funniest thing though. He would rub himself up against the wall and bark over to me, then if I came over to him, he would run away with his body still pressed against the wall and continue barking. Quite odd but he was probably just trying to rub the water from the rain off of his jacket. He was quite interested in his little friend Timbits but not enough to pursue him in  a game of chase. Our friend Mac had Timbits and Cooper on their feet, chasing after his little tail! The three of them ran around the yard for a good while until it was time to head into the playroom for some more fun! Once in the playroom, Timbits older sister Coco found a toy and of course Timbits and Mac wanted it for themselves. Timbits managed to sneak it away from her when she wasn't looking and ran around the room with it. Of course then Mac had to chase him down for it which then started another game of chase. Maya and Timbits were tough to get inside in the first place because they were having so much fun outside but then once they were inside and there wasn't any rain dropping on them, they were both even happier! Maya wanted to be wherever Timbits was which meant that she HAD to be in on this new game with him and Mac. Cooper sure does love his new friend Timbits. Anywhere Timbits and his sister were, you would find Cooper running alongside them and looking to get in on whatever game they would be playing at the time. At one point, Timbits was checking out a hole in the yard, so of course Cooper had to join him to see what all the fuss was about. Rocky was quite content to just hang with his pal Julie this afternoon. The two of them like to hangout by the door until it is time to go in. A couple times though when I would call over to Rocky he would perk up and trot over to me to get some lovin! He is much better being inside and snuggling on his nice comfy bed than out in the rain.

The next group ended up being a very fun filled group. Pretty much as soon as they got out to the agility yard Rex was off racing around with Kane. Meanwhile Duke, Finnegan and Kyah all headed out to do a little exploring. Duke having seen all he wanted to see came over for a quick visit with me. That done he went off to start wrestling with Kane. Rex having lost his play partner went to see about playing with Finnegan. They bounced around a little until Rex couldn't let Duke and Kane play without him any longer. The three of them had so much fun wrestling and running around. Finnegan decided to make his way over and try to check everyone out while they were playing. He was then hit with the zoomies and went racing off at full speed. Rex who had taken a moment from Duke and Kane to see what Kyah was up to, saw Finnegan race off and gave chase. Sadie was back in the group today to let her have a little more fun. And she definitely did, unfortunately she was still on leash restriction so I almost lost my arm a couple times. When she first got outside Sadie spent some time socializing with Chloe and Kyah. Sadie and Kyah then went off to do a little exploring around the yard. Shortly after Kane and Duke started ripping around the yard at top speeds. It wasn't long before they had Rex, Finnegan, Kyah and Sadie on their heels. Eventually the racing died down so Finnegan went off to check out a hole. Rex wondering what he was looking at, went over to join him. Duke nice and muddy from the running made his way over for some love and pets. Since he was kind of gross he got a pat on the head then I made him sit and took a couple pictures of his muddy self.

This was a nice and quiet group today! Jake likes to hang out around the different areas of the yard to investigate what has gone on earlier in the day. Jake loves to be called over for petting and then will quickly return to his sniffing task. He made a new friend named Sasha today who briefly tried to get him to play but he told her he had other more important matters to tend to. Fez is just such a sweet boy! We love having him here. He is always happy to see us in the morning and throughout the day. Even in the yard, he is never to busy to drop by and get some petting from his friends &#X1f60a. Viggo was very interested in this new lady-friend in the yard so the two of them wandered around together for a little while. Afterwards, Viggo wanted to do some sniffing on his own so he did just that! He loves his morning walk and is always sure to put a smile on your face with his cute little crooked ear.
Mocha got a nice walk this afternoon to stretch out after sleeping after his walk this morning. We walked, making sure not to run and just enjoyed the trail together. You can definitely tell he cannot wait to get running and jumping again though! After the walk, the two of us returned to his kennel so that he could have some pets and then it was time to rest again until his next outdoor adventure! &#X1f60a

The last group of the morning consisted of Kimi, Lobo and their mini me's Maverick and Shyla. The four of them plus Brenyn made their way out to the agility yard. They all split up to do some exploring in different parts of the yard. It wasn't long before Lobo was joined by Maverick who was quite curious as to what Lobo found so interesting about the big rock. In another part of the yard Kimi was joined by Shyla and the two put their noses together. Lobo left Maverick and went to see what the girls were up to. Kimi left the two of them to their exploring and went off to wander around the yard. Shyla left off exploring with Lobo to go and run around with Brenyn. Lobo didn't seem to mind too much and went to join Maverick. Maverick was alternating between exploring and watching his sister and Brenyn run around. Eventually he couldn't take it anymore and went racing off to join the girls. The three of them had a great time playing together. Maverick then went bouncing off to see if maybe Lobo would play with him. He ended up striking out with Lobo, so he decided to join Brenyn and Shyla once more. At this point they were having fun in a hole. Since everyone else was so interested in the hole Lobo took it upon himself to go and check it out as well. Kimi not wanting to feel left out went and checked out a different hole.

Enhanced

Today for Rex's enhanced I tried to work on a lot of things. We started out slow and did some 'sits', 'downs' and 'stays'. I then threw in some recall work which he did very well at. Wanting to try something new and to challenge him a bit I asked him to do some doggy push ups, which is basically going from a sit to a down and back to a sit. Rex was a little confused but was a good sport about the exercise. Next we worked on his focus with 'watch'. I was quite impressed with how quickly he remembered the trick. I only had to remind him where to look twice and after that he had amazing eye contact.

Today was Maya's first day of enhanced for this stay. I decided to work on the basics like 'sit' and down' which she had zero problems with. I then did a couple stay exercises as well as some recalls. Maya did quite well with everything. Since she was listening really well but did not have great eye contact or focus I decided to work on her 'watch'. I lured her eyes to the proper position only a few times before she was constantly making good eye contact and for a more extended time period. After all the good work it was time to play a game. I settled on a scent/guessing game. Basically you put a treat in your hand then put it behind your back, switch hands a couple times before offering your hands to the dog. The dog is then supposed to sniff out or guess which hand actually has the treat. Maya had a hard time settling on an answer, but she seemed to enjoy the game.
After Maya's training we headed back to the kennel to see Rocky, who was happily lounging on his nice bed. I joined him and we spent some time cuddling. Rocky also got some pets.
