Most of the cats were very eager to play as well as cuddle today when I went into the cat room! Chief was the first one to see me as he was sitting in the cat tree. He immediately began meowing at me to try and get me to cuddle with him so the two of us enjoyed cuddling for a little while until Tulo came and swatted Chief on the head, what a silly little girl. Soon after, they were in a small race around the cat room as Chief decided to chase after Tulo. However Tulo was quite a bit faster as well as smaller so she could get away from Chief pretty easily. Eventually Chief had Tulo trapped at the top of the cat tree but eventually lost interest and snuggled back up in his spot. Once this was all over, Tulo spent her time following me around while jumping up at the camera strap. Gus was the audience to this whole charade as he followed wherever the other two went just to see who would win. He continuously meowed at them until it was over. I think he might have wanted to join in on the playing! Once the show was over, Gus must have been itchy because he kept rubbing his entire body against anything with an edge, or sometimes me when I was sitting on the floor. He absolutely loved when I gave him a head, neck and back scratch. Ava, Marley and Athena were the sleepy ones today. When I walked into the room the three of them just lifted up their heads but couldn’t be bothered to get up. However Marley was the only one that eventually wanted to come out and see me. He definitely took his time but soon enough he was cuddled right up on my lap for at least 10 minutes while I tried to convince Ava to come out. Every time I tried she would just look up at me and go right back to bed. I think she and Athena must have been pretty comfy in their kennels. Athena absolutely loved to watch what everyone else was doing. She seemed to always have her eye on something or someone but didn’t pursue playing with it or them.
Beanie and Poochio looked so cute and warm in their adorable sweaters. Beanie was so excited to get outside this morning to see all of her friends and to take in some of the new smells that the colder weather brought today. Poochio on the other hand wasn't too sure about the colder weather but when he saw his sister enjoying it he decided to go and join. Beanie took right to going around the yard to say hi to everyone and explore the yard. Poochio hesitantly at first joined Beanie but once he saw how much fun it was he started running around joyfully. Beanie was having a great time with her exploring and socializing with her friends. Beanie and Poochio took time out of their exploring to come and visit with me to get lots of cuddles. They both really loved the attention.
Tennya is such a sweetie and she loves having people come visit her in the kitchen. I went in to see her a few times before it was time to take her for a walk with some friends. She had an amazing time on her walk this morning. She explored around on the trails taking in all of the new smells of the cold and wonderful winter morning. When we got back from her walk she was so happy and her tail was wagging with joy as I reached down to give her a nice scratch behind the ears. After walks we went out for group time where she met up with some of her friends and they went and explored around the yard together. Tennya loved having a bunch of her friends helping her to try and find this amazing smell that she caught while on her walk.
Maya and Rocky had a great day together. They started their day by going out with me and some of their best friends. Maya was very playful today and her and her best friend Timbits ran around together for a while until Timbits found a toy and Maya had to try and take it from him. They chased each other around trying to get it from each other. Rocky preferred having a quieter day today and decided to go and explore around the yard instead. He also came over for lots of cuddles when he was done with his exploring. After groups we took some time together and went into the playroom to play games and practice some of their skills.
Emcy, Ordi and Hickstead were the most adorable little trio
today! They were all ecstatic to get outside and go on their walk around the
field this morning and were each finding a different way to deal with that
excitement. Ordi continuously went inside and outside of his crate while
waiting for me to come put their leashes on. Hickstead on the other hand took
to jumping up at their kennel door while wagging his tail as fast as he could.
Finally, Emcy sat waiting patiently but with an eager look on her face. As soon
as I opened the kennel they all became very good and let me put each leash on
before they left the kennel. Outside on the other hand was a different story.
As soon as we got outside they all sprinted to the end of their leashes and
were ready to run. I don’t think they quite understand what a flexi leash is
because they seem to want to run around the field each time we got out.
Eventually they calmed down a bit and the three of them stuck together
side-by-side at the end of their leashes while exploring the trail every so
often. I don’t think they wanted to be done their walk when we were but they
were still very excited to go back into their kennel and snuggle up. Once it
was time for their outdoor playtime, I would’ve almost thought none of them
were in there if I hadn’t seen the tip of Ordi’s nose sticking out of one of
the crates. Once he saw me the three of them were up once again and ready to
play. For the most part of their group we played catch, which Emcy and
Hickstead dominated. It was mostly just the two of them playing while Ordi
stuck behind and explored the yard. As soon as I’d call Ordi’s name, he would
race over and immediately sit at my feet for me to pet him. Of course the
others would quickly follow behind him in order to get a bit more attention as
well. Emcy began to get a little bit annoyed with the boys whenever they got
attention, but each of them ended up getting a lot of love.
Duncan had a wonderful day here at Tails & Trails. We
started off our morning on a one on one walk together around the field. Duncan
had me right on my toes as soon as we got out of the door as I believe he
wanted to sniff as much as he could, as quickly as possible. Soon enough he
slowed down and mostly stayed beside me while stopping every so often to explore
the new frost on the grass. When it came time for his outdoor playtime he
had the same energy going out as in the morning. I attempted to get him to play
with me by finding him a nice rope toy but he enjoyed sniffing it for a little
bit then turning his back so that I could give him a good scratch instead. He
was a very cuddly boy today and would always rub up against my legs so he would
end up getting some cuddles from me.
Fez and Rex had another awesome day today. They each began
their morning on separate walks. Fez got to do an easy half walk with one of
his walking buddies. He was very excited to go outside this morning and could
hardly contain himself! Once we all got outside he did a little trot to the end
of his leash and took in the crisp morning air. Once he was full of that he
slowed down a little bit but every time I would look back at him he always
seemed to be smiling. By the end of his walk I think he was definitely ready to
snooze in his kennel. Rex had a very energetic and fast paced walk with our
husky Magic and another one of Rex’s friends. The three of them were
immediately happy to be together and started bouncing around on top of one
another. Rex became absolutely enthralled with Magic and wanted to play with her
for at least half of their walk. When it came time for their outdoor playgroup,
Rex had a pretty fun and playful group that he seemed to really enjoy. As soon
as I picked up the rope toy in the yard, Rex was right by my side as well as
trying to jump up and get it. He ended up getting it and of course keeping it
for the entire time. Every time I would try to get it from him it led to a
small chase in between us in the yard which did a great job of getting all of
his friends involved. Fez was also in the group so he got to keep an eye on Rex
for the most part while also following everyone that was playing around him. He
didn’t quite have the energy to play but he spent his time barking at those who
were playing as well as coming over to me for some cuddles. He definitely
enjoyed his enhanced today as we went outside for some one on one time for a little
while then eventually went back into his kennel to cuddle. He absolutely loved
getting his ears scratch and almost fell asleep when I was doing it. Rex is
doing better every day with his enhanced. I began with a structured walk which
he did mostly everything right, except his reaction time for sitting when I
stop walking is a tad bit slow. We then began his sit/lie down/stay training,
which for the most part he did very well! He still needs a good amount of work
on his down but I was able to get him to do it for me as well as stay in
the position until I said he could get up. I also tried to get him to shake paw
for a little while and I think with a little work he’ll soon understand that as
well!
Duke and Indi began their days on an excellent walk with one
another. They were each very well behaved while I put on their leashes and were
ready to get outside and get some morning exercise. Duke took the lead in the
walk almost right away while Indi stayed behind in order to sniff the ground as
much as she could. She really enjoyed the idea of exploring today. Eventually
she caught up to Duke but that quickly changed as she realized there were more
dogs walking behind her. She was very interested in them and was completely
caught up in trying to get to them and play with them instead of walking. Duke
was quick to follow in her footsteps and soon enough I was trying to distract
them by racing in front of them and trying to get them to run with me. Luckily
it worked but this lead to a race around the field since the two of them love
to run. By the end of the “walk” I was absolutely exhausted and expected them
to be as well but of curse once I looked over I saw that they looked eager to
go again. When it came time for their outdoor playgroup, they ended up being in
separate ones today. Each with a playful and exciting group, they headed
outside to meet their new friends. Indi immediately raced around the yard a few
times but eventually slowed down in order to do a thorough sniff around the
yard. She didn’t get very involved in much of the playing or cuddling but would
stop by every so often to find out what all the other dogs in her group were
doing. Once her group was over she immediately laid down in her kennel and had
an afternoon nap.
Duke was in a group with his new/old friends Spencer and
Charly. Right from the get go, Duke and Charly had hit it off and couldn’t get
enough of each other. They seemed to be the perfect match. Most of the time
when I’d look over at them, Duke would be chasing Charly or Charly would be
play-tackling Duke. It was a very cute sight to see as they were completely
attached to the hip for at least half of the group time. Duke was also in an off and on cuddly mood so he would take his time to go through my legs every
so often, which I find to be the funniest thing. Of course he would also look
up at me as if to ask me why I wasn’t petting him yet. When Charly wasn’t
playing with Duke, he had another friend named Georgie who also seemed to be
like one of Charly’s secret admirers. They followed each other all around the
yard for a while. Charly took his turns completely tackling her onto the ground.
Eventually I distracted him by getting a rope toy from the yard, which he
needed as soon as he saw it. The problem was; Duke wanted it too. The two of
them were back at the chasing and tackling again once one of them had gotten
the rope toy. It amazes me how high Charly can jump for the toy. He seemed to
want to show off his skills by constantly jumping past me in hopes of
grabbing the toy from my hand.
Spencer spent his morning walk with an energetic husky whom
he became very fond of very quickly. He was completely infatuated with her the
moment he met her and always wanted to follow/play-tackle her for the entire
walk. Don’t worry, though, she loved the attention. On the odd chance that he
wasn’t watching her, he seemed to be looking back at me and smiling, what a
funny guy. During his group time he got to be in the same group as his new friend, as well as one of our huskies named Magic. She too was a hit with him and
she absolutely loved playing with him as well. The two girls and Spencer spent
almost their entire group time chasing after one another. He raced them right
through the big tunnel in the yard and all along the fenced area non-stop.
Eventually I was able to take his mind off of them for a quick little bit when
I showed him the rope toy. He had a great time chasing it around while it was
in my hand. Soon enough he went back to play with them until the group time was
over.
Jax had another wonderful day today. He began his day on a
walk with two of his good friends. He was very excited to get outside but
stayed calm and waited for me to put on his leash and allow me to leave his
kennel before he did. Once we got outside, we began searching the yard for a
prime spot to sniff then raced out into the field and went right to the end of
his leash where his friends joined him. Jax really wanted to play with them for
the entire time but once I told him to calm down a little bit he was perfectly
well behaved. They all ended up playing for a little while in the field. He was
just as good to go out when it was time for his outdoor playgroup. Although he
wasn’t joined by both of his friends, he still got to play with one of them,
as well as a few new ones while outside. Jax mostly spent his time trotting
around the yard and playing with everything/ everyone possible to play with. He
always loved being involved in absolutely everything. Towards the end of the
group he relaxed a little bit and cuddled up beside me.
Cooper is such a loving and happy boy. He loves it when you go into his kennel to see him and give him lots of cuddles and attention. I visited him a few times before it was time for us to go outside and play with his friends. Cooper was really excited to go outside and see everyone and also take in some of the wonderful smells. He explored around the yard for a bit with some of the other dogs until it became a little too tame for him and he began looking for something more exciting. He went and played with Keegan for a while which he found really fun. After playing, Cooper came and cuddled with me for the rest of the time.
Will and Cricket are so adorable, they both get really excited when I go into their kennel with them and give them lots of attention. Cricket gets so excited when you go into their kennel because she loves having a lot of attention. Will likes to hang back and wait for you to go to him and pet him instead of running and jumping up like his sister. After our little cuddle time we went outside with the group and Will went and explored with the others while Cricket came and jumped on my leg to be pet. They both had so much fun outside whether it was coming over for some cuddles or going and exploring around the yard together. They both had a wonderful time during their enhanced and they loved the cuddles that they got while we were in the playroom.
Dugan and Keegan are both very cute and silly boys. They are so very excited all of the time and they both love a good cuddle time. When it was time to go outside they both ran right out and began getting their exploring in at the beginning so that there was more time to play. Dugan thought today would be a good day to relax and try and find a good smell to follow. Keegan on the other hand was really looking forward to lots of cuddles. He came right over to me and sat right on my legs so that I could pet him and no one else. Dugan saw all the attention that Keegan was getting so he came over to get some cuddles too. They both had a great time and loved all the attention they got while they were outside.
Kouza had such a wonderful day today and was very happy about the semi warm weather. She went right out to the sunny part of the yard and explored around for a bit enjoying the warmth of the sun on her back. She loved all the new smells that the frost from the morning brought and she couldn't help but be in a great mood. Kouza ventured around the yard for a long time trying to find the source of some of the amazing things she was smelling. When she was done exploring she came over for lots of cuddles in the warm sunlight with some of her friends.
Viggo is such a silly boy and he loves going outside with his friends and taking the time to smell around the yard and the trails. I took Viggo for a walk this morning with another one of his friends and he was so excited that he almost dragged me out the door. Once we were outside he couldn't contain his excitement when he smelt all of the amazing new things of the day. He had so much fun on his walk and was so sad when it had to end. He didn't have to wait long to go back outside because soon enough it was time to go and play with his friends. Viggo had so much fun exploring around the yard and meeting up with some of his best friends. He even made time to come see me for a little bit between exploring and being with his pals.
Poppy is such a sweetheart and she just absolutely loves a bunch of attention. I first saw her this morning when I took her out for a walk with a bunch of her closest friends. She loved being outside in the cold morning enjoying the feel of the cold as she walked. She went off the trail sometimes to explore and find some of the amazing smells that came with the new day. After walks we went out to play with her friends. She had so much fun running around with some of the others. When she became tired she came and cuddled with me for the rest of the time which made me really happy. She had a wonderful time today playing with her friends and exploring the trails.
