Finnigan was full of beans during his group outing today! He
loves just about anybody and he had quite the mix of dogs to hang out with out
in the yard. Finnigan wasted no time jumping into the pool of fresh, cool water
as soon as we set foot out in the sun. He was greeted by a few friends as he
lounged in the pool, including Timbits the beagle, Sky the Husky, and Barb the
Lab pup. When the Beagles and Isis the Husky started to run around in a game of
chase, Finnigan couldn’t help but leap out of the pool to join them. He left a
flying trail of water in his wake, and the pink Frisbee in the pool behind him.
Charly the Golden went and scooped the Frisbee out of the water and brought it
out to where Finnigan and friends were running and it quickly caught his eye.
Finnigan grabbed the Frisbee as he jogged along and took a time out to lay down
with his treasure.
Trixie, Roxy and Charlee are the sweetest little trio. They
walked together out on the path this morning, enjoying the beautiful weather
and all of the scents that lingered in the long grass. After a little rest time
together on their comfy cots and blankets, Trixie, Roxy and Charlee made their
way out into the yard for some time with their group. Trixie and Roxy quickly
wandered out into the grassy yard and put their noses to work in the grass and
rocks along the fence, while Charlee hung back in the shade to relax with a few
other friends. I went to see Trixie and Roxy, who had their heads together
sniffing the same patch of grass. I knelt down and Roxy quickly climbed up onto
my knee for some pets and attention. I moved over and sat on the big boulder so
that Roxy could more comfortably rest on my lap while we watched Trixie
continue to roam. It wasn’t long before Trixie was at my side, though and gave
me the biggest puppy dog-eyes as if to ask if she could also have a turn being
cuddled. I obliged, of course, and gave Trixie a turn on my lap while Roxy went
on sniffing. After a little while I went back towards the door and the shade to
see what Charlee was getting up to. She was happily hanging out in the shade
near the pool, and wandered close to the waters’ edge a few times before
deciding for sure that she’d rather keep her toes dry for now. I knelt down to
see if Charlee would also enjoy some cuddle time, and she happily hopped up
onto my lap for her turn!
I was very happy to see my good friend Benji back with us
this morning! He was full of beans and ready to get out on the walking trail
alongside his walking partners Coco and Timbits the beagles. We marched along
at a good, quick pace since these three little guys were following their nose
and letting out their wiggles. After he had a good walk and stretched out his
legs, Benji was more than happy to spend some time with the other dogs and I
during our group time out in the yard on this sunny day. Benji went directly
over to the pool and dipped his nose in the water while watching a few of the
other dogs hop in and out. Benji was content to spend his first day back just
getting accustomed to his surroundings and investigating all of the good scents
in the long grass around the fence line and around the yard. I visited Benji
each time we crossed paths and knelt down to give him some pets and cuddles. He
eventually made his way to the picnic table where he watched Barb the lab and
Bailey the beagle bouncing around underneath. He watched the hooligans wrestle
for a little bit before continuing on his explorations.
Victory and Gracie had another day well spent in each
other’s company; these two sweet ladies have become fast friends and Victory
adores Gracie’s calm demeanor while Gracie enjoys Victory’s silly side! Victory
was happy to see a familiar face, that of Charly the Golden, but she had to
take a double-look, Charly’s identical twin was out in the yard as well, Molly
the Golden! This meant double the trouble for Victory as she tried to keep up
with these fetch-loving pups. Victory ran her little heart out this morning,
having so much fun jumping and wrestling with the Golden twins. She even
followed them over to the pool and had a blast splashing around! Gracie was off
roaming around the perimeter of the yard when she heard Victory cannonball into
the tiny pool. She quickly ran over to see what all the commotion was about and
was pleased to find the cold pool on such a hot day. She meticulously dipped
her paws in to test the temperature like the lady she is! Once she cooled off
her paws, she ran over for her daily dose of cuddles and together we watched
Victory ran circles around us.
Victory loves to explore the field during her extra attention time so today she and Katie went out for another roam around wherever Victory pleased. It was too beautiful of a day to spend extra attention time inside, and Victory enjoyed walking along the trail following her nose and meandering in the wildflowers. She opted to keep her toes dry and just have a look at the edge of the creek instead of jumping in today. Instead, Katie and Victory headed inside to the cool reception area for some water and a little rest together.
Gracie and I went for a little adventure down to the creek for her extra attention time today. We of course stopped in the daisies to pose for a pretty picture but soon continued on our way to the creek. I wasn't sure if Gracie would want to hop in and cool her feet, but she didn't hesitate before jumping right in up to her belly! She waded around in the water for a few minutes and then hopped back up on the creek bank so that we could continue our walk. She led me to the bridge a bit further down the stream and we sat together for a bit until she led me to the other side into the long grass. When we returned from our walk, Gracie and I went to the lounge room to do some training tricks for fun. She's probably the only dog I know who actually rolls over! She's so smart. We finished our time together by relaxing on the comfy couch together.

Sophie had to be the most energetic pup out in the yard
today, but that doesn’t surprise me; age doesn’t mean a thing to this
fun-loving Golden. From rolling around in the grass, to splashing around in the
pool and chasing Vega and her friends around the yard, this girl had an
eventful morning and it was hilarious to watch! She was keeping up if not more
so than our young daycare pals Casey and Chloe! I was very happy to see Casey’s
handsome face this morning. It has been great to see him and he was ready to kick his day off with a trail walk with Gracie and Zennon. But the
fun really happened out in the yard a short while later where he met up with
silly Chloe and Husky rescue Bodi. The three of them were inseparable most of
the morning and he especially loved jumping up on his hind legs to dance with
Chloe. Then the great chase began, resident redheaded Husky Vega was on the
loose and started darting across the yard in a fury. This had just about
everyone in the yard including Annie and Zen chasing after her! Chloe
definitely gave her a run for her money, I couldn’t believe how fast she was
for such a big girl, but Vega successfully took cover in the agility tunnel. Zen was right there with the rest of her pals, she has completely come out of
her shell and loves to wrestle and play! She was having such a good time, that
at one point mid-chase she rolled around on her back in the grass in happiness.
Annie is just as excitable as her sister, but somewhat more reserved at times,
but she definitely got a kick watching her silly sister run laps around her.
Annie and Zen were all smiles this morning and excited to see daycare friend
Delilah again today. Delilah was watching the chase from the adjacent yard and
soaking up the sun. She didn’t want to get in the middle of the chaos, but had
a front row seat from the other side of the fence. Plus it meant that I would
head over to give her endless amounts of head rubs. As I made my way over,
Annie and Zen followed and gave a few nose nuzzles to Delilah and she was happy
to see them again.
