Keegan and Dugan were definitely the stars of the small dog group this morning. These two lovable boys had a blast running around with their friends! Dugan was especially in a playful mood and had so much fun running around and wrestling with little Ziggy the Boston Terrier; these two really hit it off! Meanwhile Keegan was following Bella and Jake around the yard with their little noses to the ground in exploration. Dugan made his way back around with Ziggy close behind to meet up with his brother and together they brushed up against the tall blades of grass. It was all cuddles for the rest of the morning and the two of them were all smiles as they enjoyed some head scratches. After a morning of play, Keegan and Dugan met back up with little Ziggy and enjoyed an afternoon’s trot along the back trail together and it was the perfect way to spend their afternoon in the sun and on the move!

Max and Sadie were up to their usual shenanigans out in the yard this morning. Max was full of great energy, as usual and immediately started leaping and bounding out towards the grassy yard. Miss Sadie was slightly slower, taking her time to sniff out her surroundings, but she eventually made her way over so she could perch herself on top of her favorite rock and stoically stare out into the field. Max wanted to get a better view to see what Sadie was watching and jumped on top of the picnic table so he could be the tallest in the yard! Then they followed me back into the front yard where Sadie found a comfy spot to lounge out in the sun while Max wrapped himself in between my legs for back scratches. They were gearing up for their mid-morning trail walk out back on the trail, by far their favorite part of the day!

Boris and Tasha were thrilled to meet up with daycare pals Issy, Mocha and Percy for a morning of fun outside in the yard today. Although first out the door, Mocha never moved much further than the door itself; that’s her favorite seat in the house! But Boris was able to get a playful rise out of her, like the confident Husky he is, he sped over and gave her a few nudges to her side to see if he could entice her to play. She excitedly jumped up and started wagging her tail a million miles per second, but no way she was going to let him bully her away from her spot. With no luck, Boris thought he would see if he could get sister Issy to play with him; she had already made her way out into the far grassy yard and was sniffing around the agility tunnel! Issy loves the attention from Boris but definitely not about to chase him around the yard. That’s what his mother Tasha is for; she is his perfect partner in crime and encourages his silly chases around the yard. Today she joined Husky sisters Isis and Sky for the grand chase around the yard after silly Boris. Even Percy and Charly couldn’t resist but join in and left their game of fetch for now. Percy just adores trying to steal all the toys away from Charly, that’s what you get when you pair two fetch-loving fanatics in one group!

My favourite Pug sisters Lola and Pearl always brighten up our Tuesday daycare group! Pearl set out to follow the scents around the fence while Lola hung around, keeping an eye on the rest of the group. She was particularly focused on Barb the lab puppy, who she met last week. Lola seems to quite enjoy the company of puppies, and followed little Barb around until she caught her attention. Barb gave Lola lots of big kisses until she trotted off once again. I scooped Lola up for some snuggles and she sat on my lap while we watched Pearl roam. After a while I went and scooped Pearl up for some one-on-one time of her own. She made her little pug snorts so I put her back down to continue on her way around the yard, where she met up with Merlin and Bailey, who were involved in a rough and tumble wrestling match. Pearl wasn’t sure she was ready for any shenanigans quite yet, and came back to Lola and I to hang out with the rest of the relaxed group.

Bailey and Merlin were instant friends in the yard today! They both took a few minutes to have a look around in the grassy yard, but they never strayed far away from one another. Suddenly, Bailey pounced right on top of Merlin, and the games began! Merlin hopped up on his hind legs, showing off his signature wrestling move, “the hug”. Bailey was happy to dance around with Merlin, taking the occasional summersault when she ran a little too quick for her own feet to keep up. Barb came running over to join Bailey and Merlin, unable to resist the lure of a good play session. The fun took Bailey, Merlin and Barb flying back and forth across the yard, around the rocks and under the picnic table. The chase continued back across the yard towards the door where some of the quieter friends were relaxing. I took this opportunity to get a little snuggle time with Merlin, but it wasn’t long before he was off zig-zagging around with Bailey once again.

Bessie and Stella were never far apart from one another out in the yard today. It was lovely to walk along and look down to find a very tall, friendly girl on one side, and a sweet smaller friend on the other. Stella was all about the snuggles today, and kept herself close to my side and placing her head under my hand for pets every now and then. Bessie, on the other hand, ventured off to greet the other dogs but always circled back to see Stella and I. Bessie came across a toy on the ground and gave it a good sniff for a minute before deciding to pick it up. She marched around with her orange toy with her head held high and looking very proud. Vega the Husky came rushing over when she saw a side of the toy that looked perfect for a game of tug. Bessie decided against playing the game though and let Vega have a turn with the toy while she came back to see me again. Stella and I were out in the grassy part of the yard, where she was sniffing and wandering around, keeping an eye on the other dogs around her. I gave her a good scratch behind the ear and on the head until Bessie came and jumped up with her paws on my leg, asking for a turn too. These girls are such a lovely couple to spend time with!

Sophie was certainly full of beans today! Even when she was rubbing her face in the long grass or rolling on the ground she was doing it with vigor. Out on the trail, Sophie joined her friends Scotch and Bessie on this warm morning, and she took every opportunity to roll around in the grass with her legs flailing about. During her group outings, Sophie was drawn to the orange toy like a magnet and always sought it out, no matter who happened to have snatched it up at that moment. Sophie noticed that Zeke and I were playing tug and came racing over to join in. She grabbed onto the dangling end of the toy and tugged with all her might! Eventually Zeke gave Sophie her very own turn with the toy, at which point she and I played a little game of tug just the two of us. Sophie eventually left the toy for another friend to find and came to rub up against my leg, asking for some pets. I happily gave her a back scratch before she was off bounding across the yard once again.

Karlee is just the sweetest ray of sunshine. She always has a big smile on her face, whether she’s out in the yard or relaxing in her kennel. After a leisurely morning stroll in the long grass, Karlee hung out on her bed for a little while before going out in the yard for her group outing. She happily greeted the other dogs and roamed around, sniffing the fence and casually bumping into some friends here and there. She liked to hang around another older gal, a black Lab named Belle. These two senior ladies were the perfect company for one another, both at the same pace and on the same page. They really made the cutest pair! Karlee was a lucky girl after her group outing when she got to go and spend some time in the spaw!
