Bessie is such a sweetheart; she makes the
best company, not only for our staff but for the rest of our four-legged
guests. Who could resist that sweet face and fun-loving energy that she exudes.
She enjoyed her morning trail walk alongside Stella the St. Bernard and Scotch
the lab; they were the perfect trio! Like the obedient girl Bessie is, she
never walked ahead of me, she preferred to hang out by my side and let Stella
and Scotch take the lead down the trail. Next up, she was headed outside for a
morning of fun with daycare ladies Annie and Zen. Bessie excitedly ran around
collecting toys to play with and Annie and Zen followed close behind to see what
she was up too. Annie and Zen had just come back from their morning trot with
Nika as well and were ready to get their day started and excited to see who was
in the yard today. They met a new face named Macey the Golden and she is
probably the nicest Golden you will ever meet! She was thrilled to meet so many
new friends and excitedly followed everyone around the yard and explore her
surroundings. The real fun began when Vega our resident Husky and Bella the
Shepherd started an epic chase around the yard. Annie and Zen were all smiles
as they tried to keep up with these two speed-demons! Bella had a blast running
all of her energy out with Vega; they were the perfect match and Bella was
thrilled to have a partner that was just as energetic as she was. Miss Oakley
could hardly keep up with all the commotion surrounding her in the yard today!
She hung back with sweet Macey to make sure she didn’t get in the path of
chaos, however she didn’t stray too far either, it was way to entertaining to
watch Bella, Zen and Vega run laps around the yard. She enjoyed some nose
nuzzles from Bessie and of course endless amounts of head rubs from me, no
wonder she never wanders too far away from my side!
Keegan and Dugan had another fun-filled day
spent with all of their favorite little friends. After coming back from their
morning trot with new friend Olive, they were ready to head outside again.
Dugan was just on fire today; he was full of such great energy and was whipping
around the yard in excitement enticing the rest of the gang to follow him. We
played a fun game of fetch together and he enjoyed tugging on the rubber ball
and fetching the Frisbee out of the agility tunnel. This got the attention of
Casey and she ran over to see if she could join in the fun and before we knew
it, Ringo and Jake had made their way over as well for a group wrestle! I let
the four of them playfully wrestle it out and made my way over to the front of
the yard where Keegan was hanging out with Olive and Ziggy. Keegan may not be
as playful as his brother Dugan, but he enjoys the company of his friends just
as much. He was thrilled when I made my way over to him because he knew it was
cuddle time!
After a fast paced walk on the trail this morning, Max and
Sadie took their time in the yard to hang out and relax. Sadie joined me on the
big rock, where she rested her head on my shoulder for some pets and cuddles.
Max got his fair share too when Katie entered the yard with the wheelbarrow.
Max was determined to give her a helping hand with her chore, and stuck close
by as she worked. Sadie and I, on the other hand, were happy to relax together
as I gave her lots of ear scratches and pets. She periodically roamed the yard
and perched up on the pallet or the picnic table, and eventually made her way
back towards the door where she likes to lay. Max eventually left Katie to her
work and came over to see Sadie, hoping she’d be ready to play. The pair
pounced around a little bit, and Max hip-checked and pawed Sadie to keep her on
the ball. After some good play time together, Max and Sadie both used the rest
of their group outings just to hang out together.
Stella the gentle giant loves to be around the other dogs.
One of her favourite activities here is going for her walk, and today she was
joined by friends Bessie and Scotch. Stella marched along happily with her head
held high, only pausing to say hello to her walking buddies or to sniff an
interesting spot on the trail. Stella was eager to enter the yard and see her
friends again after walk time today. She ran into Scotch and said a quick hello
before racing over to get in on the games that were starting up. Zeke and Kane
were pawing and pouncing at one another, while Riley and Nika play-bowed beside
them. Stella was very excited that the other dogs were about to play, and did
the cutest little hop with her front paws. She had a huge grin on her face when
she ran up to me, and nuzzled her nose into my side as if to say “isn’t this
fun??”. Stella stayed close to the other dogs all throughout the day, and even
shuffled around a little bit with a fellow St Bernard (mix) named Chloe. One of
my favourite parts of Stella’s group time is when she comes bustling over and
nudges me for some pets! She’s the sweetest girl.
Sophie had another action-packed and fantastic day! But
really, has Sophie ever had a bad day? I don’t think so! She did her favourite
thing during her morning walk today, which is to roll in the grass. Whether it’s
the short grass in the yard or the long grass in the field, you can guarantee
that Sophie will stop to roll around in it. Today she hopped into the long
grass on the side of the trail and all you could see was the tall grass waving
around as she moved. After a minute she pounced back out and we were off
walking once again. During group time, Sophie met Kane the Weimaraner, who was
immediately smitten by her. He wanted very much to play with Sophie, but she
was much too focused on the toys and the puddles left over from yesterday’s
rain. We played a few rounds of fetch with a couple of different toys, until
Sophie went to roll in the grass some more and have a little splash in the
puddle. Eventually Sophie was ready to join the other dogs in a little game of
chase, and she did a few laps around the yard with Kane and Chloe, amongst a
few others.
My best friend Kane had another five-star day at daycare! We
missed his fun-loving energy while he was on holiday last week and it was great
to have him back. Kane started his day with a trail walk alongside his friend
Indi. After stretching his legs on the path, Kane was ready to run and play
with the other dogs. He met a senior Golden Retriever named Sophie, with whom
he was instantly infatuated. Kane followed Sophie around hoping that she’d be
up for some rassling. Sophie was quite busy with her toy at that moment, but
luckily for Kane Zeke the lab mix was at his side, ready to fill her post as
play partner. These boys wagged their tails a mile a minute while saying hello
to one another, and before long they were flying away across the yard in a game
of chase. They stopped to pounce and wrestle with one another, but continued on
running in between matches. Lots of other friends briefly joined their match,
including Kane’s good friend Chloe, Sophie the golden, and Riley the Shepherd.
He certainly had two weeks worth of fun today!
Chloe was absolutely thrilled to meet the nice young lady
that she was paired up with for walks today. Bella the Shepherd is just about
the same size and goofy energy as Chloe, and they made a great match on the
trail. Chloe couldn’t wait to get playing, and pounced and bounced the whole way
around the field. Later on when we went out into the yard, Chloe was so eager
to get playing that she ran a few laps around the yard to stir the pot and
catch the other dogs’ attention. She met up with almost all of her group-mates
during her time in the yard today, and had some good chases and wrestling matches
with each one. Chloe play-bowed with Scotch, wrestled with Kane, ran with Riley
and played some fetch with Zeke. She’s such a social butterfly!
Coco and Timbits had another great day at daycare today.
Coco has been such a good and patient girl with little Lab puppy Barb, and even
got a little silly and joined the game of chase! Timbits put his nose to work
during his first group outing of the day, keeping his head down and following
the scent trails closely around the yard. When he saw that Coco was making her
way to the picnic table to join the other dogs in their games, Timbits went
flying over and pounced on Coco. Bailey and Barb came flying out from
underneath the picnic table and Coco and Timbits went bounding after them at
full speed. Eventually Coco left Timbits to play and went to say hello to a new
friend, a mini doodle named Ruby. Coco hung around with Ruby, who was still
getting used to the yard and the other dogs on her first day of daycare. Coco’s
calm energy seemed to make her feel more welcome, and the girls hung out
together while the sillies played.
Guess who Bailey played with today? Barb, of course! These
girls are the absolute best of friends and it’s the cutest thing. During groups
you can count on seeing them wrestling and chasing each other around, sometimes
with other dogs and sometimes just on their own. They met up under the picnic
table today, which is their favourite spot to play. Coco and Timbits noticed
that Bailey and Barb were mid-wrestle under the table and went bouncing over to
investigate. It wasn’t long before the four of them plus Finnigan were off to
the races, zig-zagging and tumbling around the obstacles. Eventually Coco and
Timbits branched off for a little while, and Bailey and Barb just kept on
playing. Charly the Golden and Finnigan the doodle were quick to replace Coco
and Timbits in the games, and the chase started up once again! Bailey adds such
a fast-paced and fun energy to her group!
It was lovely to have Ruby join us for daycare today! She
was feeling a little bit shy at first, so I scooped her up and we went to hang out
together on the big rock. Finnigan came to say hello, and he’s the best greeter
we could have asked for! He’s the best guy to help friends feel welcome, and it
worked for Ruby! She sat on my lap for a while and Finnigan stood up on the
rock next to us to give her a sniff. Eventually I left Ruby down and she sat in
the grass with Finnigan next to her for a while. Once Finnigan went off to race
around with Bailey, Barb and Charly, Ruby decided it would be a good time to go
and wander and sniff in the long grass around the fence and hang out with Coco
the beagle. She was happy to make her way back into her kennel a little bit
later on to have some rest time on her comfy pillow.
