I was so happy to see that Charlee, Roxy and Trixie were
back at Tails & Trails this morning! I was immediately greeted with kisses as
soon as we got into the grass yard from both Roxy and Trixie. Charlee was a
little bit more shy to begin with but soon enough she was right by my side as
well. Roxy and Trixie took off into the yard and began exploring as soon as
they were done saying hello to me. They didn’t seem to bother with anyone else
in their group because their noses were leading them everywhere! There were so
many fresh new smells that the rain had brought in and they knew that they had
to explore all of them. Charlee stayed back with me for a little while. I
picked her up and she moved around until I was holding her like a little baby, so cute. She kept smiling up at me with her beautiful big eyes and gave me a
little lick on the nose every so often. Soon enough she was back on the ground
and sniffing along the side of a rain puddle. I think she was trying to debate whether
to jump in. I found Roxy and Trixie still sniffing around in the yard. However,
I soon got their attention when Roxy's nose picked up the scent of a little treat
and Trixie caught on quickly as well. I ended up having both girls complete a
few tricks and receive treats in return. Of course, I made sure there was one
left for Charlee before we all went back inside.
Max and Sadie were two little goofballs today who
weren’t sure what to do while they were out in the yard. Now of course their
group time started as usual with Max racing out of their kennel to give me a few
kisses all over my face, while Sadie began a ginormous stretch before slowing
trotting outside and saying hello. Sadie wasn’t so sure about the weather at
the beginning of her group so she started off by simply following along the
fence line and smelling all the new smells from the fresh rain. Max seemed to
follow in her footprints. However, it wasn’t long before he was sitting right
up on the picnic table with me. Lucky for them, the sun came out for the second
half of their group time! I could tell right away that Max and Sadie were
already in better moods. I brought her green turtle pool into the yard hoping
that Sadie would enjoy sunbathing as per usual. As soon as I looked back at the
pool, Sadie was already laying down, completely soaking up the sun. She
remained there for the rest of her group time, looking as content as possible.
I joined her for a little while so that I could give her a little belly rub.
Max wasn’t as interested in the pool as he was in the liver treats I had in my
pocket. After he sniffed them out I knew I needed to give him a few. We ended
off his group time by trying out a few tricks for treats and of course a bit of
cuddling.
I don’t think Sophie W is ever in a bad mood. Even on
rainy mornings like this, she’s right there in her kennel, waiting to flash me
her bright smile. Once I got out into the yard with her I knew it was going to
be a good day. The two of us ran into the yard and immediately started playing.
She seemed to have extra energy if that’s even possible. I grabbed a bright
green toy bone out of the yard and immediately had Sophie's attention. She kept
running up to me in order to try and grab the bone, but then she’d dart off
into the yard and wait for me to throw it. It was as if she wanted to play with
it so badly but didn’t know which game she’d rather play! We ended up playing a little
mix of the two games. I’d throw the ball for Sophie and she would run as fast
as she could to catch it. Then when she came back, the two of us started a
quick game of tug-of-war until one of us won. This repeated itself for quite some
time. Eventually Sophie decided it was time to play with her friends. She
joined in on a few games of chase which got her a little tuckered out. At the
end of her group time we snuggled for a little bit so that she could take a
break and play just one last time afterwards.
Dexter and Gracie were the funniest little flirts
during their outings throughout the entire day. I could tell that the two of
them were both playing hard to get in their own funny ways. Once their group
got into the yard, the two of them would go separate ways to start off. Gracie
usually came over to simply join me in the yard while Dexter got into his
playful mood with a few other friends. Then soon enough, the two of them were
shyly following one another around the yard. Gracie kept an eye on Dexter as he
did all sorts of things. Eventually, while Gracie was sitting on top of the picnic
table, Dexter give himself a bum rub on the side of it. Funnily enough, he
accidentally bumped into her nose and the two of them were stuck side by side
from that moment on. They each took turns following one another around the yard
but they stopped every so often to sniff and lick each others noses. Suddenly,
Dexter took off in a sprint around the yard with Gracie close on his tail. They
ended up in a long game of chase, constantly taking turns following each other.
Towards the end of their group, Dexter and Gracie came over to share a few
kisses with me.
Gracie was delighted to come up front for her extra
attention today. She bounded down the hallway with a big grin on her face and
immediately got to work exploring the reception. She has been up here plenty
though everyday there are new smells for her to check out. Gracie said hello to
Julie and then sniffed a few of the toys that were lying around. She proudly
performed some tricks in return for a couple of treats. Then Gracie sat down to
cuddle with me. She just couldn’t stop wagging her tail the entire time! What a
happy little girl. We ended off her group time with a bit of TLC. I gave her a
long belly rub as she laid on my lap. For the rest of Gracie's training, extra attention time, we went out front and explored the wet grass. Gracie didn't seem to mind but I decided we would practice place on a nice warm, dry rock. It was perfect timing as Lauren arrived for her evening shift and Gracie had to maintain her place while Lauren got out of her car. Gracie did an amazing job staying in place!
The morning was very wet, but Victory didn’t mind at all
and trotted along on her walk sniffing up in the air and down on the ground. Victory
was all about playing with everyone’s favorite red jolly ball when we were out for
group today. While the other members of her group play tackled each other (and
me) Victory concentrated on her toy. When the others gave me a moment, I went
into the yard with Victory and played a game of fetch. I think her favorite
part of today was her extra attention time, which was a mixture of indoor and
outdoor time. We sat together and she put her paw on my arm while I scratched
and brushed her back. Victory couldn’t resist a squeaky ball, however, and
played a little with that. She also played a game of toss-it with one of the
silly moustache squeaky toys. She loved sitting beside me more than anything,
even more than another outing out front where she got to explore some of the yard. We
mosied around but soon came back in where Victory pressed herself against my
leg for even more cuddles and pets.
