Groups

Nymeria was so happy to go outside this morning! She was especially excited to get to go out with all of our daycare dogs. Since they are more playful she had so many dogs willing to play with her that were up to her level of energy. When she first got outside she ran around and gave everyone a sniff as it was her first time meeting them then she  started to play with Merlin right away. Merlin is an energetic little guy and st always on the move. He started running around Nymeria in circles as she started to jump at him and try to catch him playfully with her paws. They made their way into the further yard where they continued to run around until they both ran out of breath and had to take a little break. As they started to explore and sniff around, Nymeria’s energy came back very quickly and she ran to the other side of the yard to see who else wanted to play while Merlin scurried along the fence to continue exploring. Meanwhile, Maya was taking it easy at first and wandering around smelling everything and saying hello to her usual friends that she sees every Tuesday. When she saw Nymeria at first she wasn’t quite ready to play, but after a few minutes she got some pep in her step and was very excited to play with the puppy. As Nymeria ran back to the grass yard, Maya chased her as fast as she could and caught Nymeria off guard, when she caught up to her they began to wrestle in the grass as Merlin ran back up to join in and play with them as well. They continued running around and chasing each other until it was time to go back inside.

Rocky was such a cute boy today. When he first walked out the door he held his head up high to the sky and let all his hair blow in the wind as he took in the cool breeze. You could tell he was really enjoying the nice weather. He sat at the door as all the other dogs played and hung out with Lola, since she’s a little older as well and she likes to relax too. So they sat together by the door for most of the time. Lola took off and wandered around the gravel yard for a bit before finding a nice spot in the sun to relax. I went over to them to say hi and give them some cuddles. They both love the attention, especially Lola, once you start to pet her she just wants more and follows you around until she’s had enough. Rocky likes some good pets too, and when he's really enjoying it he rolls over on his back for belly rubs.

Pearl is such a funny pug, she’s always so busy and can never stop moving or wiggling around the yard. Today she was very focused on exploring and when she got outside she went right to it. She started at the fence and made her way along it until she got to the further yard, then she went back to see Lola. She always runs around her in circles to bug her, she got up from her spot and started to bounce around a little bit as she was running then sat back down. Pearl then made her way to the grass yard where she ran into Miko who also had his nose glued to the ground. They ran around with each other for a bit but always took breaks in between. Miko would randomly run up to Pearl and jump on her and Pearl would start to chase her for a second then go back to what she was doing. Miko kept on doing this as it was a game and he loved it.

Winston was looking so comfortable in his bed this morning when I walked down the hall, he was curled up in a blanket on his cot and was fast asleep. When it was time to go outside and I opened his kennel door I think I startled him because he jumped up and ran out immediately. Outside he took advantage of the sun and did some relaxing. He wandered around the door then took a seat on the step right beside Julie and relaxed the whole time. When I knelt down outside he walked over and put his head right into my lap for me to pet him. Tennya was a lot different than Winston outside, she was super busy and made her way out to the further yard as soon as she stepped out the door she explored for a little bit and occasionally went up to a dog that was near her to say hello. She was always moving around and would stop every now and then to roll around in the grass. She loved to do that and stayed there for a minute with her four legs up in the air wiggling around.

Maverick was loving his life today outside. He always has so much fun with all of our girl huskies and thinks he’s a member of their pack. He follows them around everywhere they go in the yard and when he goes off on his own he makes sure he’s still close enough by that he can see them. Shyla isn’t as captivated by the girls as Maverick is so when she goes outside she takes off on her own at first to explore the yard before joining in with them. She sniffed along the fence and kept coming up to me to say hi, so I knelt down and motioned for her to come to me and she was a little timid at first but then she ran over and gave me lots of kisses. When she had enough of me she ran over to the further yard where all the others were and saw Maverick running around with  the girls. They were wrestling and jumping up on each other as Shyla ran up to them to join in. She didn’t wrestle but she ran wherever they went and stuck by Maverick.

There was a new addition to the next group. Will quickly found himself as the centre of attention. He found himself being thoroughly looked over.  Maple and Indi then took a break from checking out Will to check out each other and Mocha. Mocha had planted herself in one of her customary spots in the sunshine to watch the others. The group made their way further into the agility yard. Even Sophie made her way in with the others. She was quite interested in Will and was happy to follow him around. Will was actually still quite interesting to several of the dogs seeing as he was a new addition. Percy, after a quick race around the yard, went back over to see what Will was now up to. Will was trying to go around and check out the yard and see what all was going on. Percy eventually decided to head off to do his own explorations and joined Issy, who was also off checking out the yard and anything that caught her attention. Maple, not one to be still for very long, took off racing around the yard. Percy, having seen all he wanted to see, went running back over to Will. He then set his focus on getting Will to play with him. Charlotte and Sophie finally stopped following Will around. Sophie headed off to meander around the yard and Charlotte went off to have some fun in the water. Issy finally noticed Will and she took an instant liking to him. She started to bounce around him and occasionally bounce on him. Maple saw the fun and zipped over to see if maybe she could join in. When they proved to me be more focused on each other, Maple went tearing off around the yard once more. Percy was next to go running up and see if maybe he could join the fun. Charlotte and Maple met up and were soon ripping around the yard together. Not one to miss out on running, Percy left Issy and Will to go and chase after the other two. Will also thought the racing looked like fun and left Issy to go racing off with the others. I left them to their fun and went to see how Mocha was doing. I found her hanging out with Sophie. The two of them were happy to see me and to get some pets. I then managed to convince Mocha to come for a bit of a tour around the agility yard.

The next group was rather excited to get outside. Baxter started bouncing around my legs wanting attention. He then went racing off further into the yard. Boris was on his way into the agility yard when he met up with Paulu. After a quick once over, the two of them were having fun wrestling. Boris then decided that he wanted to do some exploring. He made his way over to one of the big rocks and hopped on. Boris gave it a very thorough sniff before he and Paulu went running off to see what Tasha was up to. Tasha had made her way over to the far part of the yard to do some exploring. As soon as she saw that Paulu was headed her way, she got very excited. Like her son, she really liked him! Tasha bounced around and tried to get Paulu to play. After only a little success she went to join Boris in checking out something by the fence. Baxter decided to follow Boris's path. He stopped to check out the big rock then went to go and see what Boris and Tasha were looking at. When he was finished, Baxter went off to have some fun in the mud. Boris was soon finished exploring and went back to Paulu. It wasn't long before the two of them were having fun wrestling once more. Tasha curious as to what Baxter was up to went over to see what he was up to. Once her curiosity was satisfied she went to see how Boris and Paulu were doing. Baxter took off racing around the yard. Along the way he found himself a toy. He tossed it around and had some fun then took of once more.

Nymeria was so excited to head out for her training session. We headed up to the playroom where there weren't many distractions. I started her off with some 'sits', 'downs', and 'look at me'. After she did very well at these we moved into some recall work. Nymeria was quick to come right after I called her. We did this for a little while then went back to some basics with the addition of asking for her paw. To break it up a little we had a bit of a wrestling match then got back to work. Next we worked on her 'leave it' and also on her waiting a bit more politely for treats.

Will was super happy to get some extra one on one time. Since it was such a lovely day I took Will out to the front yard so we could have a nice meander around. Will was so excited he started bouncing around as he followed his nose in the long grass. I gave him some good snuggles while we enjoyed the sun together.
