Groups

The first group of the morning were quite happy to get out in the sunshine. Sammy, Kaos, and Shenzi all went running out to spend some time saying hello to each other and the rest of the group. Kaos and Shenzi then went off to play with Percy. After bouncing around for a little while, they went back to hellos when Sammy bumped into Tycho. She realized she rather liked him and was happy to bounce around for a bit with him. Tycho then gave her a good once over. While Tycho was saying hello, Sammy sort of melted into him; she really liked him! This caused Shenzi and Kaos to head over and see what was going on. When they had satisfied their curiosity they came on over for a visit with me. Sammy and Tycho headed off to play and have some fun. Shenzi noticed this and went running over to them with Kaos not too far behind. After a little while, the four of them went running out to the far yard. Tycho and Sammy were a little thrown off by the mud and so turned around and headed back to the main yard. Kaos was unphased and trotting off through the puddles. When she realized no one was following her she went back to join the others in the main yard.

The second group of the morning were an odd mix of crazy energetic and very calm. Max and Finnigan were the crazy energetic ones while Sadie, Mocha, and Issy were the more calm ones. Max and Finnigan were quick to start racing around the yard. Finnigan then spotted Sadie checking something out in the dirt and had to go over to check it out for himself. Issy was also off doing some exploring. She was making her way around the yard while doing her best to avoid the puddles. Mocha apparently wasn't in the mood for sunshine or mud. She went and plopped herself on the little bit of concrete that was sticking out from the outdoor kennels. It wasn't quite big enough for her front feet but I guess she was more concerned about her bum staying warm on the sunny patch than anything else. Max took a bit of a break from running around to head out to the far yard and do some exploring. Finnigan decided to follow him out and do some exploring of his own. Sadie made her way out to the far yard, when she noticed all the mud she didn't go much further than the rocks by the entrance. Max went over to check on her. He then went off to keep exploring. Max was then approached by Cai and Finnigan and it wasn't too long after that the three of them were racing around. As they were running around Finnigan managed to find himself a toy that he was quite proud of. Sadie went to join the fun when she decided that she rather wanted to sunbathe for a little while. Finnigan went running over to see if she was okay. Once he was sure that she was doing just fine, he went back to running around with Max. Issy was still going around the yard checking everything out while avoiding being run over. Mocha was still in her same spot watching the antics of the others. Max had also spotted Sadie sunbathing and went racing over to make her run around.

The little guys were up next. We were joined today by little Nymeria, a young husky puppy, who seemed pretty happy to be back for boarding. The whole group made their way out o the yard and set off to do some exploring. Casper and William ran straight for Kinsey, who had joined us in the yard, and bounced around her to ask for some attention. Nymeria and Anejo met up and had an instant puppy connection. They were soon joined by Casper and Tennya. Everyone then spent some time saying their hellos. Winston was off in the shade watching what the others were getting up to. I called him over for some loving and he decided that the bum scratches would be worth it and made his way over. Casper, William, Nymeria, Anejo, and Tennya continued to explore around the main yard for a bit longer. Eventually the pups and Tennya headed out to the far yard. Nymeria was quick to make a beeline over to one of the big rocks, which she promptly climbed while Anejo and Tennya looked on. Shortly after that the three of them started to race around having a blast. I left them to their fun and went to rejoin Winston, William and Casper back in the main yard. Winston was happy to get some more love.

Percy and Teddy were probably the most energetic of their group. Both were quick to go off running around the yard. They said hello to the others dogs and saw what was going on in the main yard. Teddy then went running off to the far yard to check on what Magic was up to. Percy, not wanting to be left out, went running to join them. It soon turned into the two of them putting their noses to the rocks and setting off exploring. After Teddy and Percy had seen all they wanted to see they headed back to the main yard to run around where the ground was a little bit drier. Teddy met back up with Magic, who he then tried to convince to play with him. He only had so much luck and so went back to running around with Percy.

The next group was off running as soon as their feet hit the ground. Maple led the race while Birdie. Gia, and Boston chased after her. Maple took them all around the main yard then out into the far yard. Boston was less then impressed with the mud and so took a break from running until they were back on dryer land. They all had a blast racing around for quite awhile. Eventually they needed a bit of a breather and so took a break. They all then spent some time giving Maple a very thorough once over. With that done, it was time to do some exploring. That didn't last very long as Gia soon wanted to play some more and got Maple running again. Birdie and Boston were quick to join in. A little while later it was time for another break so Maple and Birdie ended up splashing around in the puddles and having fun. It soon turned into the two of them tearing around the yard. Gia, not wanting to miss out ,went racing to join in. Boston did as well until he remembered that he would rather keep his paws dry.

The second last group of the morning were up next. They all headed out to say their hellos. Spencer, Baxter, and Tasha set off to do some exploring the main yard. Tasha then found herself being followed around by Tsavo. Tianbao was all about exploring in the mud of the far yard. I don't even think he said hello to anyone but Boris before he headed out to splash in the mud. Boris was on leash again today to do some more work on manners and training. He was happy to say hi to the other dogs. Tianbao eventually had enough of playing in the puddles and now wanted to socialize. He went and rejoined the others in the much drier main yard. Tianbao and Boris met up which quickly led to them wrestling and having fun. After a little while, Boris left him to go and see about playing with Baxter. We later headed out to the far yard Baxter seemed pretty un-phased by the wet ground and was happily trotting around checking out whatever caught his eye. Spencer was a little more circumspect of the mud though he didn't let it get in the way of anything he wanted to check out. Tasha and Boris set out with their noses down, making their way around the yard. They ended up over by the rocks by the fence where it was the driest. The two of them then very thoroughly checked out all the cracks and crevices. Spencer made his way over to the play structure where he spent some time debating actually entering it. He got about half way in then decided to go and see what Tianbao was up to in the puddle. Spencer then went running off to go and see what Justice was up to. They bounced around for a little while. Justice then left Spencer to go and see if Baxter wanted to play. Spencer then found himself hanging out with Tasha and Nika. Baxter seemed happy to see Justice and soon the two of them were bouncing around.

The last group of the morning were ready for it to be there turn. Shyla and Cara were quick to head out to do some exploring. Maverick looked like he was off to do the same, but he was waylaid by Lucy who very much wanted his attention. Shyla went running over to see what the hold up was. Maverick eventually got away from Lucy and went trotting off to do some exploring around the main yard. Shyla decided to make her way out to the far yard to explore in the less wet areas around the fence line. Cara was a little less concerned about the mud. She had followed Shyla out and went traipsing through the puddles. After Cara had gotten her feet nice and dirty she made her way back to the main yard. Maverick was still off doing his own explorations when he was approached by Ivy. Soon they were wrestling and bouncing around and having a blast. Shyla not wanting to miss out on the fun came racing over. She then ended up playing with Rosie.

Enhanced:

Boris did very well today with his enhanced activities. He was in the zone! We started off as usual, with his structured walk down the driveway. It's been a while since I've done a walk with Boris and he has certainly improved! He is doing well with anticipating when we are going to stop, and he knows that he is to sit whenever we do stop. He has now mastered this, and is rewarded with a little scratch behind the ear each time. Afterwards, we went in the back playroom together, where we work on focusing when there were a bunch of distractions. I first got Boris' attention with some training treats, and then we walked around the room together. Boris did his best to try and stay focused on me. He did veer off to sniff at some things, and then once I said his name, he came right back to my side! It was a good day for Boris. (:

Tasha was asleep when I went to get her for her training session. She was quick to wake up and demand to be let out so we could start. We headed up to the front room, working on leash skills along the way, where we met up with her dad Merlin. Tasha said he hellos then focused on me. We started with some 'sits' and 'downs' then threw in some recall work. That done we just hung out up front with Merlin for a bit.

Anejo was pretty happy to get back to our sessions. He made our way up to the front room so there were minimal distractions. I then went over his 'sit, 'down', 'off', and recall. Anejo was a little bit too excited and it took a couple tries for him to actually preform his 'down', while his sit was pretty much perfection and he was quick to plop into a sit after an 'off'. Once he was consistently doing his 'down' I decided to do a more fun trick and work on his roll over. At the end of our session we did the game of wait to get the reward. Basically he has to sit and wait while I throw treats. Eventually I give permission for him to go eat the treats.

Nymeria bounced her way up to the playroom. She was so excited to start working for some treats. We started with some of the easy things she knows such as 'sit' and 'down', we also got to work on her 'off'. That done we moved onto some recall work. Nymeria did great and came right away. When I added some excited toys to the equation it took her bit longer, but she still came bouncing her way over to me. The toys then lead into work on her 'leave it'. I started with some treats in both hands. One close to her and one kind of hidden. The goal was for her to ignore the treats near her and then she would get rewarded. It took a her a couple seconds before she realized what was going on. This then turned into a combo of her 'look at me' and 'leave it'; either way she did awesome.
