Groups
Hibou went running out with the rest of the group to go do some exploring around the agility yard. Upon discovering it to be rather muddy she headed back to the main yard. Hibou went trotting around then took up position in the shade. Apparently it was much nicer for her there. Hibou started in one spot then headed over to a different spot where she laid down for a little nap.
Tasha and Boris were pretty excited to get out for a group with Tycho, who happens to be Boris's dad. They all spent some time exchanging hellos. Boris and Tasha were then pretty quick to ask Tycho to play. The three of them then had some fun wrestling and running around. After a little while they all need a breather and so went off to do some exploring.
Max and Sadie were quite happy to get outside on this lovely day. Max started to race around the yard checking everything out. Sadie wanted to check things out as well, but she put her nose to the ground and set off in search. As she was going along she met up with Merida. The two of them then spent some time their heads together thoroughly investigating a rather interesting section of dirt. Sadie and Merida then decided to check out more of the yard together. They set off trotting around. Max was still enjoying racing around by himself with the occasional visit with me or his sister. Finally he was tired of running by himself and went to get Sadie to join him. Luckily she seemed ready for a good run and the two of them took off at max speed. Eventually Merida tagged along as well.
Next up we had a rather fun group to watch. It started out a little quiet with Cara heading out to do some exploring, while Daisy made her way around the yard to have a loot at her new surroundings. Tianbao was occupied with a bone he had found. Baxter was all about seeing what the other dogs were up to and saying hello to them. Cara then took a break from exploring to go do a little socializing, and so went up to say hello to the new group member, Daisy. Daisy was happy to meet a new friend, and she and Cara spent a few minutes sniffing and wagging their tails. I went up to see the pair and gave them lots of pets and attention. Baxter, having said hello to everyone, decided that he quite wanted to play with Percy. Tianbao spotted this and went bouncing over to see about joining in. Somehow it turned into Baxter and Tianbao wrestling and having a great time together. Cara left me and went to do a little more exploring. She then decided that she wanted to play too, but she wanted to play with Justice. They were pretty adorable to watch. After a little while Cara needed a break and came back for more love. Baxter and Tianbao ended up splitting up. Baxter went to play with Luna and Tianbao ended up playing with Percy. Daisy spent the rest of her time in the yard just observing the other dogs and hanging out close by me. I gave her lots of pets whenever she wanted them. She had a nice first day!
The littles were up next. Tennya and Koda were quick to head out and start exploring around the yard. Tennya soon found herself a bone that she was quite happy to lie down with and have a good chew. Winston, Holly and Darby took a moment to think about what they wanted to do. In the end they all decided to head out and do a little exploring as well. Nymeria came bouncing over to me for a quick hello and a pat then went racing off to Iris. Iris was pretty happy to see her and soon the two of them were ripping around the yard. They almost ran over Tennya a couple of times as she was laying in the grass. Tennya decided to take her bone and relocate to a safer location. Koda went over to see what she was up to then went back to his own exploring. This also caught Nymeria's eye and she went bouncing over to see what Tennya had. Next time I looked over, Nymeria was happily chewing on the bone. Tennya was quick to move on and went back to exploring around the yard. Winston, Holly, Darby and Iris were all ranged around the yard giving it a very thorough once over. I crouched down to take some pics. This caught Iris's eye, she was then very quick to race over to demand some loving and cuddles. Koda meandered his way over to see what was going on. After he got a couple pets up his own, he continued on his way. Winston was happy that it was such a lovely day, and he took every opportunity to soak up the warm sunshine.
Fez seemed pretty happy to be back today. He went moseying off around the yard checking everything out and seeing if anything had changed since last he was here. Fez met up with Brutus and walked around with him for a little while. In need of a break, Fez headed over my way for lots of pets and love. Brutus followed him over and the two of them continued to hang out together.
The second last group of the morning were ready to have fun. Maple was quick to go running over to Aurora to see if she wanted to play. Birdie took off running around the yard when something on the ground caught her attention. She put on the breaks and went to check it out. Gia and Boston went to run around the yard together when Gia spotted Maple and Aurora. She then went bouncing over to see about joining in. Not too long after, Gia went bouncing off to play with Duke. Boston decided to go racing around the yard. It didn't take long for the others to notice and soon he had Maple, Gia, Duke and Aurora on his heels. Birdie was still on the scent of something interesting and stayed focused on her spot on the ground. The group didn't run for long, though, and soon Maple was playing with Aurora once more and Gia went to play with Duke. Boston still wanted to run and so did just that. Gia soon went back to Boston, but tried to get him to wrestle instead of run. Birdie was finally done with her exploring and was ready to play. She went running over to Maple and insisted that they play together, which was completely okay with Maple. Gia saw them having fun and left Boston to see about having fun with the girls. I think she was then feeling pretty conflicted and spent the next little while alternating between playing with Maple and Birdie and Boston.
the last group of the morning found themselves with a new member, Mr. Rex. Since he was the new addition to the group, he found himself being thoroughly investigated. It wasn't long before Rex was being asked to play Ivy and Maverick. Shyla, having said her hellos, was now off doing some exploring. I think Rex wanted to do some exploring of his own but he was still being followed around by the girls who were all vying for his attention. Eventually he caved and decided to play with Lucy. Maverick finally decided to leave Rexto play with the girls and headed off to do some exploring around the yard. While he was walking around he was startled by some plants whacking the outside of the fence. Maverick spent some time staring and trying to figure out what had happened. He then made his way over to me for some pets. After some attention, Maverick decided to go and check in on Rex. Shyla was finally finished exploring and was hit by the need to play. She started to play bow to me and act like a good racing in circles. Rex saw this and went over to see about getting her to play with him.

Nymeria was pretty excited when I went and got her from her kennel. When she realized that she was going to working for some treats she got even more excited. I started her with some things that she knows well like 'sit' and 'down', she was also more than happy to give me her paw. After a little while, I left her in a sit and walked away so we could start working on her recall. I was also quite happy with how well she stayed. We did recall work for the next little while and she did awesome especially with the distractions I broke out after a couple tries. Next I wanted to work on her 'drop it'. I got out her favourite toy, but she was more interested in sitting nicely for treats. We then moved onto working on her 'leave it' and 'look at me'.
Tasha was up first for her training session this afternoon. We started off with our structured walk down the driveway to work on focusing and on loose leash walking. She did very well at staying by my side and she kept her eyes on me most of the way. I had her sit and lay down randomly throughout to keep her on her toes. When we came back inside, I had Tasha sit and lay down, but this time we focused on holding the command until I signaled that she could get up. She did very well at holding her sit, but it took a few extra tries with lay down. When we were finished all of tha hard work, we had a little snuggle and I gave Tasha the leftover treats from my pocket, which she gobbled up happily.
Boris was very excited to do his training today, since his mom got to go first. He was waiting and ready when I brought Tasha back to their kennel, and I made him wait patiently to be leashed up. We headed down the driveway for our structured walk to work on walking on a loose leash. There were people walking down the road so that made a good distraction, which Boris ignored after only one reminder. I changed directions a lot as we walked along to ensure that Boris was focusing on me and where we were headed next. When we came back inside, I did some work on Boris' basic commands and we did some recall down the hallway. He's getting to be such a good boy!
