Max had a grand ol' time outside today. He started with the usual routine. Running around the yard seeing what's new and then finding someone to play with. This time outside, Wyatt came right up to Max and invited him to play. These two boys had the wrestling match of the day, After they finished, Max's attention was elsewhere. I took the tennis ball out of my pocket and caught Zeus' and Max's attention. These two both wanted to play with it, so I threw the purple ball. Max raced after it, and Zeus realized that he couldn't beat Max there. Good thing I brought a spare! While Max was occupied with the purple ball, I threw the green one across the yard and Zeus took off after it. He was so happy when he picked it up. He looked over at Max with his ball and then trotted over for me to do it again. Max had the same idea and dropped his ball within my reach. I threw the balls in either direction, but they both went for the same one-silly boys. After a little bit of tossing those around, Max moved on to chase Trooper around the yard. In the meantime, Zeus explored the yard, still interested in his lovely tennis ball. These two boys got to go in the playroom after. Zeus was excited about going in; he got to play with Sadie and Max together. And of course Max had a blast with his bestie Sadie. These two were meant to be together!

Charlotte started off playing with Max outside today. Eventually Max was too much for her to handle so she let him run off with the other boys in the group and Trooper. She decided to wander around the yard for a while, taking in the first snowfall of the season. She stuck her little nose into most of the snow in the yard, sniffing away. It is so cute when she goes to check on Sophie in the yard. She likes to do her own thing outside, but stays close to her big sister. Today Sophie and Charlotte were on separate walks. Sophie was with the older crowd, while Charlotte walked with one of her younger buddies. Charlotte is always so happy to welcome her big sister back to their kennel. She even gives up the comfy spot on their bed so that Sophie can have a little nap before returning outside. Sophie was cheerful outside in the yard. Rather than keeping to herself, she stopped to say hello to everyone else that was outside, including me. She loves to snuggle her body in between my legs and get some head scratches. It was nice to have her with me outside in the snow because she is so fluffy and warm and loves to give cuddles whenever you ask her.

The snow had Teddy really excited today. He and Kizmet started their morning with a walk on the trail, accompanied by Marley. Kizmet and Marley were of usual spirits, eager to get out the door and start on the trail. Teddy on the other hand, went absolutely crazy when he saw the snow this morning. He was leaping out the door, bounding to the open field, just so that he could prance all through it. Kizmet looked at him, curious as to why he was so enthusiastic about the snow. Later in the morning, when they all went out for their group play, Teddy tried to camouflage into the snow. He was rolling in it and shaking it all over his body. He's such a silly boy. Kizmet stood close to him while he did this, but as soon as Teddy stood up and shook all the snow off, Kizmet didn't hesitate to back away. These two continued on in the yard, sniffing the odd rock or dog. Kizmet knows when there's another lab in his group. he always gravitates towards them. Today it was Marley and Roxy. Roxy likes to play with toys in the yard so it was mainly Marley today. Kiz loves to follow his pal Marley all over the place! He is just sad wen Marley doesn't get to join him and his brother in the playroom at the end of group time.

Apollo was dying to get his paws on any toy in the yard. It took him a while to find one today. After the snow all fell, the little toys in the yard were nowhere to be seen. After a little digging, Apollo found a purple tennis ball. After that he clung to it the whole time and never dropped it. He let me grab it and throw it across the yard a couple times but for the most part, he likes to carry it around and show it off to his friends. Bentley found a ball of his own in the yard and Apollo wasn't sure he liked that. He asked Bentley to borrow it, but Bentley wasn't giving up his ball either. Apollo went back to his toy and paraded around with it the whole time, only sharing it once with Roxy. He let her beat him once to the ball, but he knew that she would grab it for a second and then drop it again so he was ready and crouched underneath her and snatched it as soon as he got the chance.

Percy was missing his best friend Max today. They were in different groups during the day and when Percy got outside, he started looking for Max right away. Percy loves all the energy that Max has outside. He loves that he can chase him around and Max will never get tired of it. Since Percy had no one to chase around in the yard, he resorted to playing with toys. He started off with a rubber green toy. After that, he liked to play fetch with the purple and green tennis balls. First it was just him playing, but then Bennie joined in on the fun. Bennie was a fetch master. He would race over to retrieve any toy I threw and then when he was running back to me, he would drop the toy at my feet and turn around in a split second and be ready to chase it again, already heading the other way. A couple of times I was moving too slow for Bennie and he made sure that I knew; I had to be quick! He came barreling back into me, knocking the ball out of my hand. He grabbed it, dropped it at my feet again and then took off running. This time I was ready and threw it to the farthest part of the yard. Percy likes to play fetch a bit differently than Bennie does. Percy likes to only chase after it a couple times. The rest of the time he likes to throw it in front of himself and leap on it, or run through the tunnel while it is in his mouth. He's such a wonderful dog, so adorable.

George and Titan had another quiet day today. Titan's favourite part of his day seems to be his morning walk now. Today he was joined by Charlotte, a younger Golden Retriever. These two get along great. They both like to battle it out for who gets to lead on the walk. They don't pull too much though because they both like to explore the longer grass along the trail. Titan was loving the snow today. He was galloping through the long grass, sending the fresh snow into the air. At group time the two brothers took it easy in the yard, making their daily rounds around the fences. George was on his usual walk with his two gal pals Sophie and Roxy. He has grown to like walking with them every morning. George and Titan both found toys for themselves in the hallway today. They decided to go back to their kennel and play with them, rather than joining their friends in the playroom.
Issy and Mocha got to spend the day in the kitchen today. Usually these two are ready by the end of groups to go back in and snuggle into the corner in the kitchen. That is Mocha's favorite spot. Today Issy followed the other dogs into the playroom. She didn't play so much, but every once in a while she likes to go in there and hangout with her friends. Outside, Mocha's favorite spot is in one of the outdoor kennels at the end. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the other dogs but she can still see everything that is going on. Also today she wasn't much for getting her paws in the snow. I guess she isn't quite used to the weather yet, unlike her furry sister.

Hobart had a good day today. Once outside for our group time together, Hobart wandered into the agility yard with the other dogs, instead of staying in the main yard as he always does. He was excited when I called to him in the yard. He got so excited when I started to give him a good scratch and rub down his back. He makes some little whining noises when he gets really excited and wiggles his entire body back and forth. It is so cute. It was nice to cuddle him out in the cold weather today. His big fluffy coat kept us both warm for a little while. He didn't want to go in the playroom. Instead he wanted to go and eat his lunch inside and then lie down for a little nap before going out in the afternoon.

Finnley is so cute. I love when he comes to visit us at Tails & Trails. He was out with a moderately energetic group today. He was happy to see everyone running around the yard and having fun. He doesn't like to engage in the games so much, but whenever they all run as a group in between the yards, Finnley loves to bolt out of the yard with them. His tail was wagging a mile-a-minute today. On his walk, he met Kyah and Mocho. These two loved Finnley. Kyah kept trying to play with him the whole way, but Finnley kindly reminded her that it was time for walking and not to play. Kyah understood and they continued on their way. They raced around in a big circle near the end of their walk, but then they realized they were almost back to the yard and then raced to get inside. Finley was the first one at the door. He met so many new friends today. It was a good day for Finnley.

The little dogs were positively ecstatic to be outside today. Each and every one of them was having fun! Miko, Gatsby and Pearl got the big chase/wrestling game started for the day. Miko is always so lively with the other dogs, and it gets them in an up-beat spirit too. It is hard to turn down Miko when he wants to play. Pearl started to chase Miko all around the yard, but after a little while, she wanted to calm down a bit. She explored the yard, and wandered over to me for a little petting. Lola was already standing with me in the snowy grass, enjoying some back rubs and ear scratches. Pearl wanted the same royal treatment as her older sister. Miko was still going full tilt, all the way until it was time to come inside. Even then he didn't want to stop playing-as usual. Pearl was loving getting some attention from me, and then after that, she backed up and stood in front of me, her whole body moving like she was about to take off running. A few seconds went by and she took off, running circles around me, making funny little noises as she went, almost like she was talking. So cute.

Gatsby is such a nimble little guy. He is always bouncing wherever he goes. It is so cute to watch him chase the other dogs about the yard because his ears are flopping up and down with every stride and then once his feet hit the ground, he springs back up every single time. Today his attention was centered on Maya at the beginning of group time. Maya sure loves to play with Gatsby. These two were springing up and down the yard non-stop. The only time Maya stopped to rest was when we were going inside, when Gatsby gave Miko and Mac some of his attention. Maya is also really light and agile on her feet, like Gatsby, so these two were tons of fun together! They wrestled around for the longest time. Maya stopped playing while Gatsby was with Miko and explored for a few minutes. She was walking along and then suddenly she fell into a hole that a dog had dug before. She stared at it for a moment, taking in that she fell in a hole, and then she proceeded to stick her face in it and sniff the entire thing. Her bum was sticking up in the air and she got Mac's attention. Mac came over to see what was so interesting but Maya ignored his curiosity and decided she wanted to play again. Gatsby joined in as well, bringing Miko along with  him and then they had a full on chase around the yard.

Pippin looks so dashing with his new haircut. He is ready to go for the winter. He loved the snow today, and made sure that he sunk his little paws into the snow covered grass in the yard. Pippin really took a liking to Flora, one of the boarding dogs. Flora and Pippin were the only two dogs that stayed in the gravel yard for the first bit of group time. They played together and jumped on each other's backs, making a little fake wrestling game. Pippin was super excited to go in the playroom too! There he continued his good mood and played with Miko. All the other playful small dogs were in the playroom too, but Miko wanted to just play with Pippin.
