Casey was stretched out on his big bed again this morning
when I went to greet him. He had eaten all of his breakfast and was stretching
out in preparation for walk time. We marched along the trail beside Casey’s two
friends, Percy and Rupert, two Australian Shepherds. After spending plenty of
time nosing around in the field, Casey happily trotted out into the play yard
to join his buddies on a nice rain-free day. A few dogs approached Casey and
asked if he would like to play, but he was mostly interested in being pet by me
and watching the goings on around him. Casey let out his playful side when he
saw me throwing a Frisbee toy for some of the other guys, who were eagerly
chasing after it and goofing around together. Casey barked excitedly each time
I raised the Frisbee to throw it, and took off running after it in hopes that
he would catch it. He was successful a few times, but even when he didn’t catch
the toy he was happy just to be prancing around and having fun. Casey was a
little tuckered out from his eventful morning of play, and joined me in the
reception area to relax for a while before going back out to play.
Domino was full of beans today, but that’s no surprise! He
was delighted to meet another Ancient Moon pup, the lovely little Ayla for
their morning walk around the trail. Domino play-bowed to Ayla and knew right
away that he wanted to play with her, which he did later on in the day. When I
opened his kennel door, Domino went flying out into the yard and started
running circles around his pals with his tail wagging furiously as he greeted
them all. Domino hopped up onto the picnic table beside his dad, Justice, and
fellow Husky pal, Vega. These three crazy cats did some table top wrestling
before Domino took off running after Ayla, who was running by as fast as a bolt
of lightning. After plenty of running and wrestling, Domino came to the other
side of the yard to try his hand at a game of fetch with his buddies Cooper and
Rupert. He was such a fast guy and caught the Frisbee quite a few times!
Sadie is such a sweet lady to have staying with us. She was
laying on her comfy bed this morning when I went to see her before walk time.
She loves being outside and was eager to get a move on out on the walking
trail. She didn’t have to wait long before Susan approached with two walking
buddies who were just as eager as Sadie to get walking. Sadie happily returned
to her comfy bed after her walk and relaxed for a little while before going out
for another group outing with her friends. There were some new faces in the
yard today and Sadie was delighted to meet all of them. She’s such a social
butterfly and takes her time to go around and greet everyone with her tail
wagging. Sadie particularly enjoyed spending time with a new buddy, Cooper the
yellow Lab! These silly friends bounced around together with the occasional
visitor popping in to join in on the fun.
Sadie was raring to get out the front door when it was time for her extra explore this afternoon. She saw the leash and was waiting for me. We went down to the creek and Sadie had no hesitation getting her paws wet. She lept across the water and was ready to keep going, but alas, I didn't have my boots on! So back she came and we moved further down the field to the bridge, where we both crossed happily to the back trail. Sadie could have stayed there all day. She is such a happy, intense sniffer, she takes her time and really savors ever new smell.
