Casey had a bit of a quieter day because of the weather. He started on a walk with Millie and Blue, two of his new companions. Casey first let everyone else in the yard get acquainted while he contemplated the rainy yard. Then he noticed Gunner, who was quite interested in Casey. Gunner and Domino were wrestling and Casey joined in with them for a little while. He would stand at the side of them and then leap right in the middle, making everyone jump up and start to run around. Casey loves a good game of chase and he forgot the rain for a bit when he was at the back of the pack with Dom in the front. After he was satisfied with playing along with his friends, he and I cuddled lots in the yard until we went back inside. Casey lured me into one of the outdoor kennels so we could be out of the rain. I sat on the stool and pet his head and gave him a really good ear rub. He rested his head on my lap and then gave me a few nice kisses on the cheek. When we went inside, I went into Casey's kennel and pet him a few times. He snuggled right into his bed in a ball, tucking his tail in and then dozing off for a nap.
Domino had another great day, despite the rain! He made a new friend named Gunner and the two of them became best friends straight away. They wrestled non-stop, and Gunner was even keeping up to Domino when he was being chased around the yard. Domino exhausted lots of energy racing around with his new friend, but when Buddy brought everyone's attention to the rubber ball, Domino was very eager to get his paws on it. I threw it around a few times before it was finally Domino who got to it first. After that, he never let it go! Gunner and Buddy even chased him and tried to wrestle him for it, but Domino held onto it as long as he could. When the others grew disinterested, Domino and I played fetch a few times before we headed inside. Later in the afternoon, Domino got to resume his fun afternoon, and with the rain letting up a bit, he got everyone into a full on game of chase. Domino was at the front with Buddy not far behind. Dom was very happy with the time he spent outside and got back to his kennel to gulp down a bunch of water before taking a well earned nap.
Sadie is very a sweet girl. She and I spent quite a bit of time together during her late morning group. She was a little hesitant to to venture off to the yard but she followed Cara into the grass yard and then she began to explore around. She sniffed all along the long grass and got her face all wet! I went over to her to give her lots of pets but she was very focused on exploring and investigating the new smells. She finally came over to me for some pets and I knelt down and she rested her head on my leg while I rubbed her back and pet her head. She really liked getting a good ear massage! When it was time to head in, the rain had no influence on Sadie at all! She was very content to stay outside and venture through the grass. I went and got her and she cuddled right into her bed inside. Later on in the after noon, Sadie and I spent a little more time together for her extra attention time. First we had a few minutes to snuggle in the playroom. I got Sadie a few treats but she wasn't very interested in them. I then asked her if she wanted to go for a walk, and this sparked her interest right away! She leaped up and was barking at me and jumping up, ready to go! We went and walked through the front field and Sadie was so happy! She wanted to stay outside for much longer but it was time to go inside so she got a nice little treat and headed back.
Maya is such a sweet girl. Her favourite part of her day was her extra attention time, up front. She was so keen to motor down the hall and begin exploring the reception area. She wandered all over, getting her nose into just about everything. She was sure to check out the toy bin, as well as underneath the chairs and desks where potentially snacks may have fallen. She was very excited when I offered her some liver treats. She sat, and gave me a paw without any hesitation in order to receive a goodie. Maya loved being lifted onto the comfy chair, and sitting with me. She nuzzled into my side and dozed off for a bit as I brushed her with the zoom groom. When Susan came in the front door, she was wide awake. Maya began buzzing around again, and got very excited when Susan lifted her into her lap. Maya briefly helped Susan out at the computer, before she returned to my side for some more cuddles. Not only did Maya get some liver treats, she also tried out some peanut butter in a small kong. She wasn't sure how to get the peanut butter out of the little hole, but she tried her hardest. She was very pleased with the delicious snack. When we headed outdoors later on, Maya laid pretty low. The rainy weather wasn't too exciting for any of the small dogs today, however, it was very exciting when I opened the door to the back play room. Maya was the first one to zoom in and begin exploring. She loved being with all her friends in a warm, dry environment. She was quick to snag a comfy spot on a bed and begin supervising the youngsters play. A couple of dogs invited her to play along, but she wasn't too interested. Maya continued to watch all the action going on while laying low around the perimeter of the play room. She was happy to sit in my lap for a while, and then even happier when I carried her back inside so she didn't have to get her little paws wet in the puddles.
